What are they really afraid of?
WaronGuns has a post about a NY legislator trying to regulate, of all things, Geiger Counters. Why would they possible use to justify this? Just like w/ .50 cals, a scenario that hasn't happened but "might" :

Why do they want to know where they are and regulate them? Because they're afraid that people might discover the truth:

They want people to be utterly dependent on the Gov't and to rely on "official" information for their safety. As we all know, Paul wants to close the "Gun Show Loophole" by making all sales go through FFL dealers. At the same time, they advocate lawsuits against said dealers and the BATFE is closing down as many as they can showing their true agenda. I ask again this simple question:

A quick roundup
I only have a limited time on a crappy connection to do my blog/news sweeps. Annoyingly I’m blocked from blogspot so I have to use a proxy server. At least I’m able to keep up. It is causing some withdrawal symptoms though. Here’s my thoughts on the highlights of the last week.

Weak. Weak. Weak. Hopefully their Cert. will have more in the way of cajones. This was so fluffy it could be in competition as a fabric softener.
ATF on Broken Semi-auto machineguns:
I guess the dealer I bought my 1911 from sold me a machine-gun as I had to send it back to keep it from double-tapping on me.
But the BATFE isn’t reaching for convictions, no, not at all.
Abrams conviction:
Maybe he f*cked up, but I’m not convinced. Especially w/ the jury-rigging and incompetence we’ve been seeing from the judiciary leaves me w/ too many unanswered questions.

The usual tripe. Make it MORE illegal to commit crimes. Put the onus of crime onto legal owners who are victimized. Continue to call for bans on scary looking guns and for untested technology to be mandatory.

Another Win For the Freedom Side
The lawsuit was filed in January 2000, but according to the opinion written by Associate Judge Michael William Farrell, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act of 2005 required the court to dismiss the case.
SAF founder Alan Gottlieb said the ruling was proper, and recalled that it was municipal lawsuits like this which led to passage of the federal legislation in the first place. At one time, several cities filed a string of junk lawsuits against gun makers, and SAF actually filed counter suits against big city mayors who launched the legal attack. SAF was not a participant in this litigation.
“We’re proud of the tenacity shown by American firearms makers, and their refusal to be bullied by this kind of legal harassment,” Gottlieb stated. “Such lawsuits threaten the gun rights of all law-abiding citizens by posing a threat to the very life of the nation’s firearms industry. It is no secret that such lawsuits have been launched not simply to blame gun companies for out-of-control crime, but to put them out of business through a financial and legal war of attrition.
“Historically,” he continued, “such lawsuits have not been successful, but defending against them has cost the industry considerable time, money and effort, all of which could have been far better spent on research and development of firearm safety education programs, or new, innovative gun safety devices and mechanisms resulting in genuine advances rather than symbolic ‘feel-good’ headlines and paychecks for litigious attorneys.

Welcome and Hello all. In Georgia HB 89 has some getting all upset. Some really lame anti-gunners attempting to scare people about the bill are claiming this bill would raise insurance costs. I am in the industry and know that insurers underwrite policies based on trends and risk. I would strongly doubt that having a firearm locked in the trunk of a car is going to change the risk. Fact is the firearms are already in the trunk and insurance companies know this.
Georgia Could gain House seats, as some one who leaves the Freedom of the South and Comes to the Little Peoples Republics in the Northeast to work. I hear people in New Jersey simply asking me why are you here? They say I hate this state I have lived in New Jersey all my life and I can not wait to get out. My response is generally”I am only here because of this project” and I’m outta here when it’s done. Lets face it folks there is nothing to like about the hell hole known as New Jersey.
I have been kind of busy lately; will try to come up with some entertaining items this week. Hope you all are having a wonderful New Year.

I was pleased to see her majesty lose. 4 more years of the Clinton's is not palatable although, she may return the stolen items to the White house. Unfortunately, it still has a chance at the highest office in the land, regardless of how nauseating she is. I can not say her opponent, the winner of Iowa is any better.

This (as Alex puts it) "Shitty little blog" that "nobody reads" and "doesn't matter" has generated more hits on both Paul Helmke's and Josh Sugarmann's Huffpo blogs than either of their organizations or, for that matter, ANY anti-rights blog or organization. And I'm just small potatoes.

BATF agents reported that the Branch Davidians at Waco fired .50 caliber sniper rifles at BATF agents attempting to execute a search warrant. BATF had requested the use of Bradley Fighting Vehicles to execute the search warrant because the Bradley is believed capable of withstanding .50 caliber firearms. But the Bradley's were not used and four agents were killed.[13]
And how many were killed by the alleged .50 cal fire? None. But you wouldn't get that from their statement, now would you?

That's why it's interesting to hear about the big demonstration that went down yesterday over on Blizzard's servers. Apparently, sometime around 8:30 PM EST on Tuesday, a throng of Alliance members took to the streets of Ironforge in a surprisingly well-orchestrated in-game demonstration designed to drum up support for (very real life) Republican dark horse presidential candidate and Internet darling Ron Paul.
Surprisingly, the WoW demonstration seems to have gone down reasonably smoothly, without much civil unrest or excessive PKing. The procession opened with upwards of 200 Alliance members who assembled en masse in Ironforge sporting names and guild affiliations (such as "RP Revolution") obviously designed to indicate support for the candidate. Some players went as far as to sport custom armor bearing a scroll symbol meant to represent the US Constitution.
I have to admit, that's pretty inventive. Wonder if the various other politicos are going to try and start organizing cyberspace rallies now.

It’s all over the news, D.C. Case imploding. Where I do show cautious optimism anyone who assumes this case will put the issue of freedom to bed really needs to re-think this issue. The supreme coming down solidly on the side of freedom and the individual right will be wonderful.
But be aware the Supreme has not ruled yet. Further one need only look at the likes of Miller, Helmke and their noisy, mouth breathing, and feral minions, not to mention the organizations that are not simply packing up shop and going away.
Realize the rabid supporters we have all come to know and love, at the old Brady Blog, more recently in Huffpo whine, occasionally in the Miller knee-jerk column to name a few, will continue to be flies buzzing around every Bill of Rights supporter, and will not give up an emotion based, propaganda and lie driven position.
You need only look as far as the evening news, the vote for me folks, and realize our fight has just begun. Because if there is one thing we all have learned (or should have) is how crafty the Anti-Freedom crowd can be. Moreover this issue is not really over firearms, it is power and control over “The People”. History has taught us if the second falls the rest are sure to follow. I will continue the belief that mine is the fight of freedom. Firearms are just scapegoats.

They're still number one!!!
New Orleans retains the murder capitol of the US title w/ 209 in 2007 giving it an estimated 71/100K murder rate.
Going by last years numbers, NO had 30% (161) of the states murders (530) but only 6% (255K)of the population (4.3M) giving it 7X the murder rate of the rest of the state. I doubt the rest of the state saw a similarly large increase.
I guess residents should continue to rely on the police and NG for protection. They're doing a fine job of it now. My hats' off to you Mayor Nagin.
NYC and Chicago are claiming the lowest levels in years. I'ld like to see a neighborhood breakdown of those claims because areas like Englewood sure haven't seen a decrease.

Children & Guns
Even PSH UK is recognizing that allowing children to play soldier/cowboy&indians/cops&robbers does no harm and can increase the use of imagination and teach safety at an early age.
PuSH'ers on this side of the pond however, feel differently. Kelli, our favorite sycophant of the Brady Bunch, sees no difference between teaching firearm safety and recruiting child soldiers al la Rwanda while Alex Riley of Ceasefire PA feels parents who let their children play dress up should be imprisoned.

The Mexican Gov't is claiming that illegal immigrants are being recruited to be used as cannon fodder for the US military:
It's commonly asserted in Mexico that the US military uses minorities, including Hispanics, as cannon fodder.
The governor of the Mexican state of Zacatecas recently made the astounding declaration that 70% of the US military is black and Hispanic - with 40% being of Mexican origin.
To bad that isn't even close to being true:
Hispanics, on the other hand, continued to be underrepresented, with 14 percent among NPS accessions compared with nearly 18 percent for comparable civilians. In terms of the force, African Americans are overrepresented in the enlisted ranks when compared to their civilian cohorts.
This is like their claims that criminals are importing 600,000 AR-15's along w/ high explosives every year from the US. They need to do everything they can to distract from their own incompetence and corruption while prices are increasing and their facing an economic collapse when their oil supply runs out.

Thirdpower has graciously offered me the use his forum, and invited me to be a guest writer here. I would like to thank him for this wonderful opportunity. I will do my best to keep the open lively discussion going. I may have “Melodies Little helpers” from time to time, but I am sure we will all have lots of fun.
Now a little about me.
Many of you know me as “Melody” I hail from Georgia, but split my time between home and New York/ New Jersey area. “Yuck” Business is Business, Money is Money and “Melody” does like her job, as well early retirement is a wonderful goal…..I find little enthusiasm for the Northeast, and look forward to my escapes back to the free world. I have little if any tolerance for Anti-Gun Anti-Freedom people, and find it difficult to understand why someone would want to toss a freedom in the trash can. I am a conservative, a proud member of the NRA, SAF, GOA, as well as the SAS (Second Amendment Sisters). I look forward to the coming month, and hope you all show patience as I have never handled a “blog” before.
On that note I will wish you all a Merry Christmas “albeit late”, and a Bright, Safe and Wonderful New Year.

What is it with Miami Police spokespeople?
Do they have some sort of mental dysfunction about telling the truth?

In Miami, authorities say the proliferation of assault weapons led to an increase in killings, from 56 in 2005 to 79 in 2006 and 86 so far in 2007.
"You just pull a trigger and 20 or 30 rounds come in a second and in those 20 rounds you're sure to hit your intended target and some innocent bystanders, totally unlike a firearm that is just one bullet every time you pull the trigger," Miami Police spokesman Willie Moreno said.

Gun Control and Racism II
A comment by Uncle on less ammunition being turned in than guns in Argentina reminded me of an article in the New York Times from 1885 that I had come across. It quotes Gen. Crook on the general policy of disarming Native Americans:
"It is not practicable to disarm Indians. Their arms can never be taken from them unless they are taken prisoners with their arms in their hands, while engaged in fighting, by sudden surprise or disableing wounds *** The disarming of Indians has, in almost every instance recorded, been a farcical failure. Let me cite the case of the Cheyennes who surrendered in 1878. They were searched with the greatest care when they were confined, and it was believed with the fullest success; yet when they broke out of prison at Ft. Robinson, Neb, they appeared well armed with guns and knives and ammunition."
The article continues:
The Cheyennes already have learned from their agent and in other ways that the Government would like to disarm them, and if the troops undertake to deprive them of their rifles and ammunitions a collection of almost worthless weapons may be turned in, but their best arms will be hidden for the use of the warriors who will not hesitate long about turning them against the whites.
This was in response to a Gov't program of keeping the entire population on a reservation providing less than 4 acres of tillable land per person (one person nominally needed 10-20 depending on farming techniques) and using the military to force them back onto it if they tried to leave to get food resulting in the deaths of uncountable numbers of Native Americans.
From an article dated 1880:
It is true that the sale of arms to "uncivilized or hostile" Indians is prohibited; but that is another matter. The military forces often disarm Indians on a reservation as a military measure; but the power to take away implies the power to restore. Finally we discover in the dispute about hunting privileges that Mr. Stephans's rule is, that "if Indians wish to go more than fifteen or twenty miles from the agency they are required to obtain a pass." It seems, then, that Indians, having given up vast tracts of country to the whites, and having taken small reservations instead, are not allowed the free use even of these reservations.
Sound familiar?
Take as many guns away from them as we can, starve them to death, and restrict their movement thereby reducing their ability to fight back when we take even more land and rights from them. If they do fight back, kill them all. They're not white so who cares, right?
These are the types of historically racist and genocidal policies that are followed by gun banners to this day.

Racism and Gun Control.
To complement ArmedandSafe's post on the subject:
Alex T. Riley of Ceasefire PA has made the claim the the modern firearm rights movement started as a reaction to the race riots of the late Sixties and that those that support said rights do so in fear of blacks and hispanics. To counter this, I present the words of journalist Robert Sherrill, no friend of gun owners, from his book "Saturday Night Specials":
The Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed not to control guns but to control blacks, and inasmuch as a majority of Congress did not want to do the former but were ashamed to show that their goal was the latter, the result was they did neither. Indeed, this law, the first gun-control law passed by Congress in thirty years, was one of the grand jokes of our time. First of all, bear in mind that it was not passed in one piece but was a combination of two laws. The original 1968 Act was passed to control handguns after the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., had been assassinated with a rifle Then it was repealed and re-passed to include the control of rifles and shotguns after the assassination of Robert F. Kennedy with a handgun....
Hmm. It would seem that the modern movement started as a reaction to a knee-jerk reaction. Did people purchase more firearms during the riots? I wouldn't doubt it. That is a well established trend following discord. That, however, does not a political movement make. Why would a movement to keep firearms need to be started unless legislatures were trying to take them away?
But I digress.
In 1988, the Chicago Housing Authority and CPD started the program known as "Operation Clean Sweep". This involved warrantless searches of homes,
mandatory sign in/out rosters, and visitor exclusion rules that included
family members and children. This resulted in the case Rose Summeries, et al. v. Chicago Housing Authority, et al. The CPD and CHA chose to limit their activities instead of going through the courts. Firearms, however, are still banned from CHA buildings.
Virginia courts have upheld a similar ban in the Richmond Housing Authority (Richmond Tenants Org. v. Richmond Dev. & Hous. Auth.) while Federal legislation (HR 3838) was proposed, along with the states Washington and Oregon, in 1994. Maine attempted to ban firearms in public housing in 1995 but this was struck down.
So not only are "gun control's" very origins rooted in racism and efforts to control what are deemed by them to be undesirable elements of the population, their efforts in the latter half of the 20th Century continue this oh-so-fine tradition. This is re-enforced by Obama touting his wife's words:
And by the way, Michelle, my wife, she was traveling up, I think, in eastern Iowa, she was driving through this nice, beautiful area, going through all this farmland and hills and rivers and she said 'Boy, it's really pretty up here,' but she said, 'But you know, I can see why if I was living out here, I'd want a gun. Because, you know, 911 is going to take some time before somebody responds. You know what I mean? You know, it's like five miles between every house.'
And then adding:
"So the point is, though, we should be able to do that, and we should be able to enforce laws that keep guns off the streets in inner cities because some unscrupulous gun dealer is, you know, letting somebody load up a van with a bunch of cheap handguns or sawed-off shotguns and dumping them and selling them for a profit in the streets."
In other words, it's alright for the rural folk but you can't trust those 'people' on the streets.
Now what demographics would fall under those brushes again?

So Obama and Hillary are adding names to pretend they have more support than they really do. I guess they're taking lessons from the Brady Bunch who have done the same thing and tried the same spin to cover their lies.

Rapper Yung Joc was arrested for having a loaded handgun in his carry-on luggage (shock, yes I know). He then is released on bail and decides to skip his court appearance. Prosecutors are stating that he also had AP ammo.
""He is alleged to have taken a loaded firearm with 20 rounds of ammunition into the airport. It is also alleged that some of the ammunition in his possession was armor piercing."
Apparently he had a CCW license from somewhere or at least claimed to have one so this is looking like a case of stupidity that he is domino-ing by not showing at his hearing. If he had actual AP ammo, he's screwed.

Merry Christmas to us.
In a conversation last night w/ my ultra-liberal (but still my favorite) cousin:
Me: Westroads forced people who had completely legal CCW licenses to disarm themselves if they wanted to shop there. Why shouldn't they be held liable when something happened?
Cuz: Huh. I never thought of it that way.
And two certain blogs have gone down the memory hole to join their bastard siblings in oblivion.
And a Happy New Year to come.

CeaseFire NJ Reasoned Discourse
Bryan Miller is trying to either ignore or distance himself from Alexander Tristan Riley and lies about it in the process. I posted a link to Riley's latest blog, which he is eminently proud of, and noted that he was a board member of Ceasefire PA, CeaseFire NJ's sister organization. As those of you who have read it know, in between the insults, there are comments on gun laws directly related to Bryan's post about allowing firearms on campus.
Bryan deleted that post as well as the first one. Here's his response:
Catch that? He claims that CeaseFire PA is not affiliated with CeaseFire NJ "in any way". I guess that's why Bryan co-founded, used to be the director of and still works directly with them to pass legislation. He states in a previous article : And, energetic and strategic leadership has emerged at CFNJ's sister organization, CeaseFire PA,
I guess that's not "affiliated with" in Bryan's world.
I didn't have to "attack" him Bryan. All I had to do was link to the various statements he's made and which he is proud of. This is the kind of person you have as "energetic and strategic leadership" and we're going to make sure everyone knows it, no matter how much you try and distance yourself from it.
So Alex, how does it make you feel that your associates are denying you already? Why don't you link to the blogs making what you claim are slanderous statements about you? Are you afraid of people reading what you wrote and later defended? Are you afraid that people won't see your claims of racism or supposed death threats because they aren't there?
Cowards.
