Harry Potter Flick

Went to see the last Harry Potter movie yesterday. Didn't realize it but we ended up in one of the 3-D showings. I was most impressed. I haven't read any of the books so I've been able to enjoy the movies separately and be surprised w/o having to worry about "well they did that differently in the book", "he/she didn't say that" etc.

Definitely one worth going to the theater to see.

Now I can start reading the books.

Slow and passive

Lots of talk about this whole “Fast and Furious” thingie on the interweb tubes; perhaps you’ve heard about it.

After some digestion, the picture for me is pretty clear. Yes, my conclusion is conjecture, but the circumstantial evidence may very well convince a jury. Let’s have a looksee at the unfolding.

1. Before he was a Senator, the Messiah was a Joyce Foundation board member for 6 years, a vocation which he cleverly labeled as a “community organizer”.
2. As a Senator, the Messiah ain’t exactly friendly to the 2A.
3. The Messiah wins the 2008 presidential election.
4. The Messiah builds his cabinet with the who’s who of gun control.
5. Gun and ammo sales surge beyond record levels…………………..in America.
6. “Never let a good tragedy go to waste” douche-bag has the Messiah’s ear.
7. Holder, Clinton and the Messiah all regurgitate the 90% meme, along with the douche-bag in Mexico.
8. We learn that the main trafficker was actually an FBI informant buying guns for the Narcos with stimulus money, and would never be subject to prosecution at the end.
9. Obama tells Sarah Brady that he’s working on gun-control “under the radar.”
10. We now know the Eric Holder authorized “Gunwalker” back in 2009.

The current administration has manufactured a crisis in which they could offer a solution through more gun control.

The amount of spin going on only reinforces my conclusions.

“Keep your powder dry” has become a glib phrase which means little simply because it‘s been over used.

Having said that…keep your powder dry.

That’s the first time I’ve ever said that.

New job

I started my new job about 2 months ago. Still with the same company, just a different role. We’re a 2 man team that affects operations world wide. The veteran who’s bringing me up to speed is the absolute epitome of work ethics and efficiency.

We support requests from every corner of the globe and our expertise is one of the reasons our department hasn’t been outsourced to some other Hell-hole of a country.

Here’s a conversation we had the other day…

Him: Goddammit!

Me: What?

Him: Do you have your blade on you?

Me: Always, that’s why it’s called my blade.

Him: Singapore is trying to piss me off more than China. This packaging is ridiculous. Customs requirements are getting out of control.

Me: Here ya go, it’s sharp.

Him: I used to carry a knife but company policy won’t allow it.

Me: We can’t do our jobs if we don’t have a blade. I use mine a half-dozen times every day and you borrow it just as much.

Him: Yeah, I know. I usually have a box cutter close by but I always set it down somewhere and lose track of it.

Me: Well then I’m going to buy you a decent blade and you’re going to carry it everyday.

Him: Cool.

Carrying a knife at work will subject one to immediate termination if you believe company policy.
Then reality rears its ugly head and everyone who’s worth their salt carries a decent blade.

Being who you are is an asset in so many different ways.

The Latest Gun Control Distraction

John R. has the text of the latest attempt to distract from Fast And Furious.

Reading it, quite a few DOJ and BATFE personnel could fall under it w/ their various schemes to 'trace' guns by letting them be smuggled to Narco-terrorists.

I wonder if they'll support the bill?

The Desperation of Dennis Henigan

Being the acting president of the Brady Campaign is already telling on Dennis Henigan. His first Huffpo puff piece since taking over is awash in false information, hysterics, character attacks and insults. Part and parcel for gun control advocates true but this is supposed to be a professional organization.

This is what you get from a waning star.

Quote of the Day

One of the things that caused me, as a gun owner and avid shooter, to get more involved with the issue is being greatly incensed at the constant attempts to make me responsible for the negligent, criminal or suicidal behavior of others.
-Sebastian, Snowflakes In Hell

I was barely a gun owner and not a very avid shooter but it had the same effect on me.

Garen Wintemute is Sad

Paid anti-gun researcher and upskirt photographer Dr. Garen Wintemute is unhappy that people aren't falling for his tricks:
Apparently Dr. Wintemute has been forced to send out repeat invitations to America’s firearms retailers urging them to reconsider their rejection of his survey.
Good. Keep wasting that money Garen. The only way we'll let you do your hack anti-gun activism is in secret.

A Gaggle of Authorized Journalists

Or "When the Ignorant and Biased Write"

From 'MySanAntonio':
It's nice when the National Rifle Association validates my reading — and low general regard — of its motives and strategies.
No preconceived bias there.
Earlier this week, a Guadalupe County sheriff's deputy discovered a cache of 67 semiautomatic weapons and a bunch of ammo in a small trailer being hauled near Seguin.
Linked to BATFE's Fast & Furious scandal. No mention of that.
Last month, Mexican President Felipe Calderón said 85 percent of the more than 100,000 weapons taken from cartels in the past five years came from the United States.
One of the most corrupt and incompetent Gov'ts in the world trying to distract blame from himself. There's a reliable source.
Any takers among those outraged by the new rule? No? Unfettered gun ownership apparently trumps saving lives.
Nice strawman.

Here's an attempt to try and divide firearm owners from the DallasNews:
several North Texas weapons dealers say they support a new directive that will require them to notify federal authorities of people who make frequent purchases of high-powered weapons.

“The industry is not going to like what I have to say,

Now let them put a sign up in their store stating they support the measure. Let's see how long they stay in business.

More preconceived bias from the Salt Lake Tribune:
Gun-rights extremists will object to the new rule, but their grounds will be weak. The homeowner can hardly argue with a straight face that he needs to purchase more than one rifle in a five-day period for self-defense. Unless you’re trying to arm a firing squad, there’s no sensible argument to be made for bulk purchases.
'Extremists'. 'no sensible argument', 'weak'. Gee, think they're an unbiased source of news?

And finally, from the paper of making up the record, the New York Times:
It is an open and deadly scandal that at least 70 percent of the weapons recovered in Mexico’s bloody drug war originate in the United States
Since the 'fact' that it's 70% of firearms Mexico selectively chooses to send to the US that 'can' be traced, this is either ignorance or lying and they know it.
'Semiautomatic battlefield weapons'
ohhh, scary sounding terminology followed by:
These guns have no legitimate place in civilian life and were banned outright for 10 years until Congress and two successive administrations failed to fight for the ban’s renewal.
Bias and another outright lie.
Gun lobby sycophants in Congress are calling the regulation a smoke screen to distract attention from a gun-tracking operation botched by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
'Sycophants'? More like completely accurate as the paper acts as an apologist for this administration no matter what they do. Just like this:
If anything, the ill-conceived operation, which deserves the fullest investigation, is a measure of the firearms bureau’s frustration in dealing with porous American law.
No, it's a measure of a rogue agency showing levels of incompetence that can't be tolerated. But the NYT's certainly has no problems tolerating it, as long as it's not done by a Republican administration.

And they wonder why people are finding other sources to get their news from.

Why Are Gun Control Activists So Violent?

A desire to commit arson is not a sign of a healthy mind:
The only way to prevent this sort of thing from happening again is to track the weapon back to the gun manufacturer, then burn its factory to the ground.

And we can see what he would do w/ a gun if he had one:
As long as it is legal to make and sell a product whose only function is to kill people,
In the mind of a gun control advocate, ANYTHING is justifiable in order to ban guns.

They're Not Even Bothering...

W/ the demise of the FSA, most of the Joyce funded attack websites disappeared. The most famous of those, the 'Gun Guys' went independent but posting became rarer than an anti-gun advocate w/ a clue.

Karlin apparently doesn't even bother checking it much anymore:

Now why is that so important? Let's put it this way. Should the unlikely happen and the NRA or SAF etc. fold, obviously their websites/blogs would shut down as well. There would still, however, be dozens upon dozens of pro-gun sites (blogs, message boards, etc) out there run by activists, bloggers, what have you w/ thousands of readers and members.

The majority of anti-gun activity on the web, on the other hand, is operated and funded by the groups themselves, not advocates or grassroots support. So when the money dries up, so do their attempts at astro-turfing.

Dennis Henigan Lies and Slanders

In a debate Acting Brady Campaign President Dennis "I forgot the people" Henigan shows he selectively pays attention to federal law as well as the COTUS and claims the NRA wants to arm drug cartels.

This, according to the CSGV and PegHeads, is 'handing his hat' to NRA's Chris Cox.

They really are scraping the bottom of the barrel for 'victories.
