'Terror Gap Loopholes' and Due Process
While Dennis Henigan dances in the blog of the 9/11 victims to try and ban guns, I want to remind everyone of just what kind of 'Due Process' is involved in these bills that he's endorsing:
Guilty until proven innocent is what the Brady Campaign and all supporters of this bill endorse. So when you hear people like Ladd Everitt, Communications Director of the CSGV claim that people have Due Process if they're denied their right to purchase a firearm, they are lying.
Police state and the elimination of rights. What a 'fitting tribute'.
‘If receipt of a firearms by the person would violate section 922(g)(10), any information which the Attorney General relied on for this determination may be withheld from the applicant if the Attorney General determines that disclosure of the information would likely compromise national security. In responding to the petition, the United States may submit, and the court may rely on, summaries or redacted versions of documents containing information the disclosure of which the Attorney General has determined would likely compromise national security.’.Get that? They don't have to provide ANY information to you or the courts they determine to be 'sensitive' and the courts have to rule on what is presented.

Brady goes shopping
(NOTE from Thirdpower. To avoid confusion, this was written by my co-blogger Kaveman)
With over 15 million Americans out of work, they should have no trouble finding someone to take the helm of their gigantic suck hole.
Some choices quotes...
"The Brady Campaign has embraced building this grassroots strength as one of its most important priorities for the years ahead. It has targeted key states and communities in which to concentrate. While it will take time to build, this effort must proceed with urgency. The new President will be expected to take the lead in making this happen."
Seems I called that one a while back...
"The organization is headquartered in Washington, D.C., with a staff of 25. There are 5 regional staff members in other parts of the country and the two entities have a combined annual budget of $5.3 million."
According to their 2009 Annual report(latest available) the Campaign and the Center both brought in about 4 million. Now they only generate 5.3 million combined?
I think I need a tissue.
"KEY RESPONSIBILITIES"
"S/he will be expected to create and execute a comprehensive strategy that utilizes a wide range of voices to deliver the organization’s messages."
Get that? They want a wide range of voices to say what we want them to say. Nice.
"The CEO shall be responsible for effective stewardship of the organization’s existing resources and for identifying and attracting new resources to the Brady Campaign."
Translation: Must be good enough at dancing in the blood to make people want to pay to watch it.
Then the truth slips out concerning grass roots...
"With the assistance of the Board and the Development Department expand the involvement of staff and volunteers to raise substantial amounts of money from new and existing major donors, and foundations."
Then they clarify what they really mean about "grass roots."
"Spearhead and actively support the efforts to build a powerful grassroots movement in those states and communities that have initially been targeted for concentration."
"Develop strategies to determine and promote evidence-based arguments for public policies, which are grounded in research and support common sense efforts at reducing gun violence."
I can't wait to see that.
"Build the movement to insure that all guns in our nation are childproofed by 2015."
Wow, that ambitious. I hate the fact that I have to wait over 3 years to witness their epic fail.
"A good listener who inspires trust and confidence and remains open to the ideas of others."
That would be kinda nice for a change.
"Unimpeachable integrity."
We shall destroy their integrity using nothing but their own words.

Gun Control Pushing For Union Support
Joyce Foundation funded 'Media Matters' in coordination w/ the CSGV (also Joyce Funded) is still pushing the 'NRA hates Unions' meme.
By connecting multiple degrees of separation, they are trying to establish that states w/ progressive firearm laws that are attempting to woo firearm companies away from anti-gun states are, in actuality, trying to bust the unions.
Maybe if pro-union politicians weren't often anti-gun hacks there wouldn't be an issue. Maybe Union members should write their politicians and tell them to stop supporting gun policies that are driving firearm companies out of their states.
So if you are union, pay attention to whose funding these proclamations. It's not a group working towards your best interests. In anything.

Ironic Quote By Dennis Henigan
But the gunners will be back, with the tactics of bullying and intimidation that have become their trademark. Dennis"I forgot the People" HeniganHmm. You mean like when the Communications Director of the CSGV started posting names and personal information (ie work locations, state of residence, etc.) of pro-gun advocates promising to hold them 'accountable for their actions' and deliberately libeled them in attempts to disrupt their families? Actions endorsed and supported by Brady Campaign National Board Member Joan Peterson.
PR Word Games from Cliff Schecter
Cliff Schecter is a 'strategist' for Bloomberg's MAIG (which has a higher conviction rate than CCW holders). He's another one of those pundits that wants to eliminate due process and keep CCW laws as limited as possible.
We've tangled w/ this twit before.
He knows he can't defend the fact that MAIG wants to ban private sales and litigate dealers out of business thereby no legal sales can be conducted, that they want to pass laws eliminating due process, etc. so he, as usual, ignores those points and jumps on the one thing he thinks he can attack:
So their founder and leader wants them banned to the point of hysterics. They use wording to try and create opinions against them and they get hundreds of thousands of dollars from a foundation that spends MILLIONS to try and ban them.
But they don't have a position on them. Really they don't.

Simply not true. MAIG doens't take a position on semi-autos. Prove to me where they doOK. They don't have an 'official' position on their website. Here's what their founder has to say on them:
The Mayor was quite blunt in his criticism of the sale of automatic assault rifles. "No rational person thinks you should be able to sell a rifle that's advertising as able to bring down a commercial airliner," he said at Monday's press conference. "Nobody thinks we should be selling armor-piercing bullets -- you don't need that if you're hunting deer or elk."And from the MAIG push-poll:
A federal law making it illegal to manufacture, sell, or possess semi-automatic weapons, sometimes known as “assault rifles.”And funding comes from the Joyce Foundation.
So their founder and leader wants them banned to the point of hysterics. They use wording to try and create opinions against them and they get hundreds of thousands of dollars from a foundation that spends MILLIONS to try and ban them.
But they don't have a position on them. Really they don't.

Dan Thomasson is a Liar and Hack
In the lame-stream media's never ending quest to smear and slander firearm owners, the NRA is their primary target. And it really incenses them just how much out of the mainstream they really are and their writing makes that come across:
See Dan, the reason the NRA has all that money to 'grease congressman's palms' is because it actually HAS members who recognize that the kinds of things you say are pure PSH. Unlike say, the majority of gun control groups in the US which are kept alive by rich philanthropists and whose major mouthpieces are ignorant media hacks. Like you.
So take your NRA hate and settle in to the dustbin of history. Where you and your ilk belong.
gun lobby's main argument for arming every able bodied American, man, woman, and child.No-one's making that argument. Lie.
with everyone loaded for bear, we would stop a lot of these unwarranted attacks on civilization.No-one's making that argument. Lie.
the gun religionNow into character attacks, so much for unbiased reporting
those who oppose any reasonable restraint on the dissemination of firearms here and across borders like Mexico unless they can find a way to use the issue to beat up on law enforcement'reasonable'. We've all heard that phrase before. Like how I would be a felon in NJ for having a single round of .22lr. And nevermind 'Fast & Furious' deliberately arming the cartels. That's the 'law enforcement' they're talking about.
LaPierre's position has been that the automatic and semi-automatic weapons used to slaughter 43,000 Mexicans in drug wars south of the border didn't come from America or through it.Again, a fabricated claim. AKA Lie. Find fully-auto firearms and grenades at the gun shows. Please. Why won't Mexico release the majority of it's confiscated firearms? Oh, right.
gun worshipers.More character attacks.
The NRA stands for No Reasonable Action -- foursquare.Yeah. 'Reasonable'. They sure like that word. When the bans and restrictions they want are anything but.

Dennis Henigan Delving Deeper
While the Brady Campaign ignores deliberate actions by the Gov't arming drug cartels through Fast & furious, they keep trying to push the 'Terror Gap' myth which involves secret Gov't watchlists, no due process and outright violations of civil liberties.
All in the name of the 9/11 victims, none of whom were killed w/ firearms.
Just like when they sent out an e-mail hours after Virginia Tech asking for donations of $32, there are no depths that gun control advocates won't go to in their quest to disarm the public.

My 9/11 Memories
I rarely use DOOT for personal musings but today I'm going to. I know it's a few days early but there's a reason.
I was woken up that morning by my BIL who was in town. He said "Your uncle got your dad's effects from the coroner and we need to go out and get you a new suit for the wake. Oh, and some terrorists crashed some planes into the World Trade Center."
Three days before. Ten years ago today, I got a call at work from my mom that my dad had been killed in an accident at his job when a crane he was working on collapsed. That three hour drive home w/ no radio and no-one in the car w/ me was the longest 3 hours of my life.
I got downstairs in time to watch the 2nd tower collapse. We did go out to a Men's Clothing store a little bit later. Everyone in there was sitting around a TV set. We joined them. There were reports of Flight 93, truck bombs, evacuations etc. Eventually one of the salesmen did realize we were there and we got the suit. Then going home to continue watching the news.
Most of those days are a blur but the most striking memory I have is walking outside the funeral home and looking up in the sky. There were two moving lights. That was it. In a city w/ two major airports that was something I had never seen before. And the realization that those were armed fighters patrolling hit me.
So the focus for those days is a little different for me than it is for most. My world has changed. THE world has changed. But we're all still here.

There I Go Bullying Again
Pointing out a gun control advocate's red herrings, strawmen, made up facts and penis comments results in them begging me to stop and crying that he's all alone in wanting to ban guns.
An entertaining morning.

History Repeating Itself
Over at Weer'd's, there's a discussion in comments about how often US uniformed personnel are posted to 'Guard Duty' while not being issued any ammunition or, occasionally, firearms at all.
When I was in the Navy and we were crossing through the Straight of Hormuz, the ship was on lockdown and all the sponsons had their .50 cals out w/ the crews manning them. The ammo for said .50 cals, however, was locked away.

More CCW PSH
MAIG's 'strategic advisor', Cliff Schecter (who we met here), is trying to get others to mess their shorts over National Concealed Carry reciprocity w/ the ol' 'arming criminals' bit.
Much better to have arbitrary systems like NJ where the authorities only approve licenses for legislators. Even if they have criminal backgrounds.
Remember that MAIG supports banning most types of semi-auto and restricting private sales while at the same time attempting to litigate firearm dealers they determine to be 'bad' out of business along with wanting to base NICS background checks off of secret gov't watchlists w/o due process.
That's the kind of 'strategies' that MAIG pursues.
SIH has more.

Reminds me of the British where units being overrun had to overwhelm the supply officer/sgt’s because they wouldn’t issue out more ammo.
