Thanksgiving in Chi-town

Man Toting Loaded Assault Rifle Walks into Police Station, Declares Martial Law
Chicago - A man is in custody Thanksgiving morning after walking into a West Side police station with a fully-loaded rifle and declaring martial law.

The man entered the Harrison District police station at 3151 W. Harrison St. about 4 a.m. with a fully-loaded AR-15 assault rifle and 30-round magazine, police said. The man said he was declaring martial law, but did not point the gun at anybody or fire any shots.
Carrying a rifle in the city - Illegal
AR-15 in Cook County/Chicago - Illegal
30 rnd Magazine in Chicago - Illegal
Chicago/Illinois - Long gun registration/firearm licensing

Officer Shot in Hand During Chase, Exchange of Gunfire

Chicago - A police officer was shot in the hand, and a suspect was wounded, during a shootout and chase early Thursday on the South Side.
Running from police - Illegal
Loaded gun in vehicle in IL - Illegal
Attempted murder of police officer - Illegal
Chicago/Illinois - Stringent handgun registration/firearm licensing

One more law would have made them think twice. Right?

@VPCinfo Doesn't Understand Percentages

The VPC recently tweeted this:

What percentage is this $276K of the NRA's total donations each year?

Then there's Josh Sugarmann's near exclusive income from the Joyce Foundation.

Who's the mouthpiece/puppet again?

Let's look at it another way. The Anti's were up in arms the other day over a report that Wayne Lapierre makes over $1m annually. The NRA has a membership of about 4m. That's .25/member/yr not even figuring in donations from the 'industry'. That's 1% of your annual dues. Again, we're not even accounting for donations and other income.

Were we to put Josh in the same situation, he would make $0.00/year since the VPC has NO membership. If we were to be generous and he got 1% of the total income of the VPC/yr, he would make about $4k on average. But instead, he pockets about $140K/yr, between him and Rand, nearly 1/3rd of the VPC's operating budget.

What a racket.

Chicago Victims of 'Gun Violence'

Father 'Snuffy' Pfleger, the man who threatened the life of FFL dealers, continues his crusade against firearm ownership:
He was joined by advocates and about 20 people who had lost family members to gun violence, including several parents who stepped forward with photos of their dead children.
Well now let's look at the numbers. Statistically of those 20:

15 had a prior criminal record
13 were gang related

How many of them were 'good boys', 'straight A students', and 'trying to turn their lives around'?

But Snuffy thinks it's legal firearm owners who are the problem.

Quincy, IL City Council vs MAIG

The city council of Quincy, IL overwhelmingly passed a 'non-binding' resolution to support the passage of Concealed Carry in this last holdout of a state.

The Mayor of Quincy, however, is one of only seven IL members of Bloomie's MAIG, which works to oppose CCW as much as possible.

Wonder how he feels about that?

@CSGV, The Criminal's Best Friend

Amidst another one of their hit piece rants against the NRA, Ladd Everitt proves once again whose side he's really on:
The NRA has also not hesitated to dismantle the presumption of innocence when it allows gun owners to shoot first and ask questions later.
So Ladd wants a criminal who's breaking into your home or raping your wife or daughter to be 'presumed innocent' but when it comes to firearms, you're guilty even if you're 'suspected' of anything.

Is there any wonder why we can't reason w/ them?

Ignorance is 'Authorized Journalist's' Bliss

There are just so many things wrong w/ this op ed by the Rev Jackson it's hard to know where to begin:
Under a federal assault weapons ban from 1994 to 2004, there was a 60 percent drop in assault-weapon deaths.
There was a 60% drop in ALL homicides during that period.
We need to enforce universal background checks on every gun transfer and prohibit all violent criminals from possessing firearms.
Because criminals are following the law now. Just look at Chicago.
Nearly 30,000 people a year die as a result of gun violence in the United States.
Brady talking point. 2/3rds are suicides, not 'gun violence'.
Fifty-caliber sniper rifles and firearms that combine long range, accuracy and massive firepower are not used for hunting animals — they are military weapons used to hunt people. These weapons can damage large targets, penetrate structures and bring down airplanes.
Designed by and for the civilian market for long range target shooting. And the airplane thing is just another talking point of the ignorant.
We created the Department of Homeland Security and are spending tens of billions of dollars to counter the threat of terrorists. And then states and Congress act to loosen our gun-control laws and open up sale of assault weapons.
Nice connection there. No bias. Semi-auto owners = terrorists.
The House has just voted to override state laws, making it legal to carry a concealed weapon from states that allow them into states that outlaw them.
Nope, another ignorant lie.
This shooting comes as Rep. Gabrielle Giffords courageously made her return to the House,
Another heart pulling statement that has nothing to do w/ the topic.
But we’ve come to the point where a mentally unstable person is strafing the White House with a semiautomatic assault weapon.
Memories fail them. Same thing happened in 1994 DURING the Clinton AWB. And crime is 60% of what it was then.

I'm sure there are more factual inaccuracies in this piece but these are the ones I picked up on after just a cursory reading. This is the kind of 'reporting' you get when it comes to anti-gun 'journalism'. Ignorance, poor research, talking points and flat out lies.

It's all they have.

I'll ask the question again:

Sure, I'll support more gun laws for you, as soon as you have your congregation write the names of every family member and neighbor that belongs to a gang and has a gun hidden on a sheet of paper. Let me know when you're done and we'll hold a joint press conference to name names and start to really bring the cycle of violence to an end.

Sound good Rev.?

California Cell Phone Control

Gov't Monopoly of Violence advocates think they control firearms through legislation. They can't even keep cell phones out of a high security prison and the inmates off Facebook:
In California, home to the nation's largest inmate population, the corrections department confiscated 12,625 phones in just 10 months this year.
Obviously we need cell phone users licensed and registered through the state.

Temperance Unions, Buggy Whips and Gun Control

For decades, Temperance unions had a grip on American politics leading to numerous 'dry states' and eventually the 18th Amendment in 1919.

Where are they today? Most of them disappeared as the entire idea of prohibition was shown to be a failure and an enabler of criminal activity. As a political movement, it's long dead, it's adherents moved on to other things.

As a business franchise, selling buggy whips was stable for generations up until the popularity of the automobile. Oh sure, some people are still making and selling them but it's only a tiny subset of tack gear. Not something many would expect to make a substantial living at.

The same goes for gun control as a political endeavor and business opportunity. The CSGV tweeted a photo of "young leaders of the gun violence prevention movement". If they're there for an internship and experience, the only thing they're going to get is experience watching how an advocacy organization closes shop as their major players jump ship and the remaining staff figure out ways to keep the lights on. If they're there because they want to 'do something' about 'gun violence', the type of company they're keeping is mostly ignorant lunatics and frothing at the mouth fanatics as their public support continues to dwindle.

If they were smart, they'ld move on to greener fields. Of course if they were smart, they wouldn't be gun control advocates in the first place.

Criminals Don't Follow the Law..Duh

So obviously we need more of them.

A story from a few weeks ago shows just how deluded gun control advocates are.

Convicted felon w/ ties to motorcycle gangs and who runs a business customizing firearms (but no FFL) gets arrested for selling manufactured/converted machine guns and explosives to an undercover agent.

So boys and girls, how many federal/state laws did this wonderful human being break just in that synopsis above?

Why do Anti's like Abby Spangler (where I got the link from) think MORE laws would have stopped this wonderful human being?

Does that make any sense at all?
