Quote of the Day: Projection Edition

Be scared. Be very, very scared. When all the Liberals get guns, it will be a much more violent world. At that point, Conservatives will start screaming for gun control.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

@GovernorQuinn from #IL

The Governor wants to know what's on the minds of Illinois residents through Twitter.

Hey Gov. Two things. Fix the budget w/o bankrupting my kids and let us defend ourselves. Follow the will of the people like you were hired to.

Define 'Ban' please

During Rep. Cumming's anti-gun 'forum', VPC's Policy Director Kirsten Rand stated:
"No one wants to ban 'standard' rifles, shotguns or handguns."
Well besides the fact that the VPC has long called for complete handgun and semi-auto bans, they put out a report calling for common bolt-action rifles to be classified the same as machineguns under the guise of 'Intermediate Sniper Rifles'.

But that's not really a 'ban' as all you'ld have to do is pay an extra $200 and go through months of hassle to eventually get your gun. Right?

The Radicalization of Gun Control

As gun control groups have lost membership, money and influence, they have become more extreme and hostile in their messages. While this may work to rev up their hard-core base which is small to begin with, it tends to make your average person look at them as if they're nuts. Two prime examples of this are the VPC and CSGV. These went from being fairly influential to being a couple of die-hard fanatics sitting in their DC offices calling gun owners traitors and potential murderers. Protest Easy Guns has pretty much gone the same way (although Abby Spangler's always been a little 'off') and even the Brady Campaign spends more of their time talking about past glories, wishful thinking and attacking the NRA than they do on actual activism.

Now we're seeing MAIG start going down the same path. Former Chicago Mayor Daley, in his last few months in office, made numerous hostile statements about firearm ownership including threatening a reporter. Now NY Mayor Bloomberg, frustrated he hasn't been able to buy off Congress like he has the city council, seems to be heading in the same direction:
"Congress must believe that there is a constitutional amendment that says the right of terrorists to buy arms shall not be infringed."

Statements like that are fine w/ me. They show just how disconnected gun control is from reality and the mentality of those who endorse it, especially their leadership.

UnPossible In DC

5-Year-Old Kid Shoots 4-Year-Old At D.C. Area Playground

Nope. Didn't happen. DC and MD have all the 'Reasonable, Common-sense' laws in place including licensing, registration, AWB's, etc. There is no way a criminal could have illegally had one in his home or left it out on the streets.

But the PEG-Heads see this as a reason to make MORE laws.

Social Indoctrination. 90's Style

I've done several posts on how there are anti-gun elements common in television and movies. Much of this is done under the advisement of the "Entertainment Industries Council (EIC)". A group dedicated to social engineer the populace using mainstream media including gun control. Since 1999 is has been in a partnership w/ the Joyce Foundation.

I was watching an old episode of Doogie Howser from 1993, the height of crime levels in the US. In it, Doogie and his friend Vinnie experience a hot robbery (robbery when you're home) and he gets convinced to get a gun. Now remember, this is based in LA. Anyway, it starts out good. He gets good, realistic advice from the instructor, uses proper safety, etc. He then delves into a 'Rambo-esque' fantasy giving him an adrenaline rush and a smile. That all changes though when he actually starts shooting and starts having 'flashbacks' from the hospital. Watch the clip.

This is very close to the EIC recommendation:
Try emphasizing the fact that introducing a gun into an argument lethalizes anger: What could have been resolved with just harsh words, or even cuts and bruises, may end up with a death. Guns don't allow for cooling off or reconciling once the momentary or situational anger subsides.
After he leaves, he attends a victims course where they follow the EIC to the letter (screaming in this case):
Consider having characters successfully use alternatives to guns for self-defense, such as pepper spray or mace.
With groups like this encouraging their own version of society while at the same time the media panders to the lowest common denominator for their ratings, it's no wonder we're in the mess we're in today.

Joyce Foundation Hack Wintemute at it Again (Updated)

Garen Wintemute, prolific sucker of the Joyce Foundation Teat, is taking a break from shooting upskirt photos at gun shows and instead is trying to trick FFL dealers into giving out information that can be selectively edited and used to smear the entire industry. You know. SOP for the gun control lobby.

I'ld lay money that the 'survey' does not include disclosure of who funds him or his past history. Pass this along to all your local FFL dealers and try and obtain a copy of the survey itself.

UPDATE: Survey is available through NSSF. Thanks to the fine folks at NRA-ILA for passing the link along to me.

Just as I suspected, the questions are geared towards promoting the gun control agenda by getting dealers to admit they're 'worried' about activities, enabling criminals or would support stricter laws.

I'm A Gun Owner Butt.....

Sometimes we're our own worst enemy. Indiana fixes a law that prevented you from even transporting a firearm in your car w/o a state permit. People freak out over media proclaiming it's CCW w/o a license.

Then the stupid hits:
People should have to have a permit to carry whether it's on your property or not. Even in your car unloaded," said Jennifer Scott, gun owner.
So she thinks a person needs state permission to carry a firearm on their own private property. Yeah. That will stop criminal activity.

From the Marion Chronicle Tribune (much more accurate):
An Indiana handgun license allows gun owners to carry their handguns openly and concealed. A permit is required to take a loaded handgun anywhere except if the handgun is kept at home or work.

Starting Friday, a person can also carry a handgun without a license: or in their vehicle if the weapon is unloaded, not easily accessible and securely wrapped. Or on someone else's property if they have permission to be there and are attending a firearms-related event or receiving services for their handgun. Or at a shooting range while attending firearms training or hunting legally.
