Following That Joyce Gun Control Money

It's been awhile since I last looked at the Joyce Foundation grant money lists, mostly because they pulled their lists for several years offline because we were showing how little public support gun control has and that most of it comes from elites like the Joyces, Soros, and Bloomberg.

Well some of it's back up and the numbers are just as interesting as before

Josh Sugarmann and the VPC seem to be weening themselves off the Joyce teat, only receiving about 30% of their total money from them ($250K), which almost covers Josh's and Kirsten Rand's salaries ( $150k ea.)

The 'New Venture Fund' has seen their monies go from about $450K to over $1m/year under various grants.  The NVF seems to be a hub for money distribution to other sources.  Gotta keep as much of it hidden as they can.

The Chicago Mayor's office has gotten $150K/year for the last several years to push gun control along w/ another $250K to the ICHV.

Harvard has gotten about $500K for the last few years.

the CSGV's 'Educational Fund' $150K and Bloomie's Everytown $350K and the WI 'WAVE over $300k/year.

Overall nearly $5.5 million dollars being dumped into gun control efforts every year just by the Joyce Foundation alone. So while the accusations that the NRA are just 'gun lobby' whores abound, the fact remains that anti-gun activism is paid for almost exclusively by a few rich philanthropists w/ their own private armed security.

Change the Wording and it's Still Just as Silly

Saw this little gem on the book of face:

Of course I chuckled and shared.  Then I got to reading the comments left on the original post.

Dice don't kill characters, stupid decisions and vindictive DMs with dice kill characters.

Dice don't kill PC's. They kill the innocent, unsuspecting NPC's who are simply attempting to defend what is theirs from the raiding, violent and greedy PC's, who invade their homes, businesses, mines, and those oh-so-costly dungeons, all in the name of financial gain and material wealth. But more NPC's die by the deadly "1" roll every single week. Please, do your best to protect these poor, innocent NPC's from a fate which could, with care and forethought, have been prevented.

Dice don't kill people. DMs kill people - with dice.

Dice don't kill characters, players do.

This is why the PCs must have their own polyhedron dice. Without them, they are defenseless against the GM and his minions.

And my two favorites:
There's no need for high-capacity dice with 10 or more sides! An 8-sided die is plenty for the DM to defend himself with!

In Amber and Nobilis, where dice have been banned, PCs still die.

Chicago 'Gun Buyback' Money Coming From Rahms @ss

So the city of Chicago is hundreds of millions in debt for pensions so that Rahmbo is making sweeping across the board increases in taxes and fees to pay for it, making Chi-town one of the highest taxed cities in the nation.

Yet he's able to pull out $250G for a publicity stunt along w/ all the overtime he'll have to pay police to do it.

Yeah, another 'gun buyback' which has never been shown to have ANY impact on crime.

Well GSL is going to be there w/ bells on to help support youth safety and education and they're pissing off all the right people:
Anthony Guglielmi, spokesman for the Chicago Police Department, said officers will check to see whether turned-in guns are operable but won’t check the IDs of the people who bring them in.
“If people want to game the system, society is the victim,” he said. “I think those people need to ask themselves, are they part of the solution to reduce violence?”
If you've got any old clunkers, GSL will accept them and they'll go to a good cause.

Denial. It Ain't Just A River in Egypt.

You really have to love anti-gun advocates.  They truly have to live in a world of their own to maintain their self image.  Take this column for example:
That power of the NRA is now diminishing and the power of "common sense" gun organizations are rising, such as the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence
Only if he defines 'now' as the last few weeks w/ a margin of error.  Pew and Gallup both show the exact opposite trend as does any measure of common sense.

Then this unsurprising bit of info:
Hillary Clinton will be recognized by the Brady Center for her "longstanding leadership in the fight to reduce gun violence by keeping guns out of dangerous hands".
While working for an administration that has shipped arms to drug dealers and terrorists.  Interesting take on it. The 'Brady Center' is giving her this 'award' in order to garner some media attention since she's currently in the lime-light  It's about the only light they can afford to keep on anymore since they're near defunct and have been mostly supplanted by the millions of dollars (not donors or members, unlike the NRA) of Bloomberg Inc.
The NRA, for its part, has stopped every single "common sense" gun reform proposal in the past 15 years, including a universally accepted "universal background checks."
How have they done that if their power is so 'diminished'?  A refrain we've been hearing from other failing anti-gun fanatics (ie Josh Sugarmann) for years.
The inaugural Mario M. Cuomo Visionary Award will be presented to Hillary Clinton at the Brady Center’s annual Brady Bear Awards Gala in New York on November 19.
Bet she won't show.  Any takers? I'll give odds.
In an attempt to "distract and distort" the "common sense" gun debate, the NRA is claiming that Hillary Clinton favors a "gun confiscation" agenda, using the code word of "Australia."
I love this bit.  He then goes on to justify how wonderful Australia is while completely ignoring the FACT that the rigged statistics he provides are only in association w/ the CONFISCATION of hundreds of thousands of privately owned firearms (while we managed to drop our homicide rate 50% over the same period).  He has to ignore that to maintain his worldview of the NRA as some giant behemoth that controls the minds of tens of millions of firearm owners (w/ their reduced influence of course).  You know, the usual "NRA is in the business of selling guns" meme.

The NRA doesn't have to 'fear monger' or lie.  Clinton and Obama gave firearm advocates that gift of calling for confiscation wrapped in a neat package w/ that fancy metallic ribbon as a bow.  The author's attempts to distract from that are nothing but sad as he lives in the gun control mental utopia of 20 yrs ago.
