SIH has a post about an 'organic' ice cream maker in Chicago that is being hit by the state for not having a license or following all state health guidelines. Basically they're after her because she's gotten popular, been on the news etc., and drew attention to herself.
Now this individual is a laid off CPS teacher and into organic food. I'm going to stereotype a little bit and guess that she tends to vote for 'progressive' candidates. The same ones that create/inflate all these bloated bureaucracies in this not-so-fine state. The same ones that create all these nanny-state laws for our 'safety'.
Example. All these laws governing things like food packaging. Plastic, styrofoam, radiation, etc. Then these same folks who pushed for these laws complain about excessive amounts of trash and unhealthy foods.
Now she's reaping the benefits of it. The Gov't will do ANYTHING to keep control of people and generate revenue and the more gov't there is, the more control and revenue they want.
What's worse is then these types of people move away to somewhere 'free' to get away from all that bureaucratic, nanny-state gov't and START THE CYCLE ALL OVER AGAIN. We have some neighbors who moved near here from a very 'blue' urban state for some 'good country living' (yes, Illinois is a step up from where they were). They then proceeded to put up 'No Trespassing' signs around the creek that all the area kids have played in for decades, cutting down trees and complaining about, well, how people live in the country. They're going to be in for a real shock when we get a heavy snow and none of those country folk w/ 4-wheel drives and chains are willing to help them get their car out.
So actions have consequences and you reap what you sow.

Paraphrasing for Accuracy
How much easier it is to believe in the politics of gun control and to fight for others to be dis-armed, than to step in front of the gun and build social and civil institutions that sustain our society and promote economic and political justice? Gun control is ultimately a shortcut, a strategy to sidestep consent. Our will to engage in democracy is what is at stake. The question remains: Can we put aside the lethal politics of gun control and take up again the challenge of democracy?”You rarely see gun control advocates going out and standing in front of gangs while they face off or patrolling crime-ridden neighborhoods w/ "I'm unarmed and morally right" signs. Instead they're 'protesting' in nice, safe areas where they won't be attacked.
- What Joan Burbick should have said.
They want us to drop firearm rights because, when it comes to the 'challenge of democracy', they've lost. While they can point to all the polls they want, the reality is here.
In her attempts to label firearm rights advocates as anti-civil rights, misogynistic racists and pigeon hole them as 'conservative' white guy, she ignores that most 'gun control' has been focused on disarming minorities and women while 'Scott Vogel' (of Joyce funded 'GunGuys' fame) presents some skewed views of reality in that the NRA wants to arm wife beaters. You know, the usual cognitive dissonance needed to be a gun control advocate.

Another 'Gun Control' Failure
Gun control advocates really need to pay attention to WHERE these crimes are being committed before hyping them up in their attempts to demonize firearm owners.
Massachusetts. A highly restrictive 'May Issue' state. #3 on the Brady Scorecard w/:
How are those working out?

"strong gun laws that help combat the illegal gun market, prevent the sale of most guns without background checks and reduce risks to children according to the Brady Campaign. "Full handgun licensing and registration. Standard capacity magazine restrictions. 'Assault Weapon" bans.

Joyce's Conflicting Interest
In another piece decrying Florida's law preventing Doctors from using their positions of authority and offices to promote gun control, a long time paid gun control advocate hides his true affiliations.
Matthew Miller, MD of the Harvard School of Public Health is a Joyce Foundation grant recipient to push gun control.
Financed gun control researchers and lawyers paid by gun control groups. And they wonder why the law was necessary.

PEG-Heads Missing The Irony
Anti-gun activists must be really busy updating their resume's as they're not reading the articles they're tweeting. From Protest Easy Guns:
The headline:
Just goes to show they think an 'armed society' is anyone being in possession of any type of firearm whatsoever and they must abolish it.
The headline:
D.C. man killed in dispute over broom
The location? Maryland. #6 on the Brady Campaign score list. Licensing, registration, 'May-issue' CCW, waiting periods, 1-gun/month, assault weapon ban, the works.Just goes to show they think an 'armed society' is anyone being in possession of any type of firearm whatsoever and they must abolish it.

Ladd Everitt @CSGV Faking the News
A recent much re-tweeted CSGV tweet:
But that's not what the article says. Some political pundit created an astroturf group w/ the word 'Sportsmen' in it. There's no 'Gun rights group' just as there is no actual membership of the VPC or CSGV.
So Ladd Everitt lies and obfuscates in his continued attempts to smear firearm owners and their followers are too wool-headed to actually read past the headline.

Mom's Annual Training
My mom's down for her annual visit w/ the kids so of course I use some of the time to keep her somewhat in practice w/ her little Keltec P-32. Accuracy still sucks but she can load, fire and hit a man-sized target at about 20' and she's comfortable w/ it so I consider that a success.
I also got her to try out the Ruger 10/22. She enjoyed shooting it.

Mark of Shame
11 Federal Legislators have written a letter telling Illinois lawmakers to get their heads out of their @sses regarding CCW.
"Exceptionalism can often be a positive thing, but in this case it is a mark of shame,"I'm glad to say that my Rep was one of the signers.
"Public safety has been and continues to be one of Governor Quinn's top priorities, which is why he is opposed to allowing people to carry loaded, concealed handguns in public places, such as college campuses, parks, malls and our city streets," the governor's office said in a prepared statement Friday" (ed. while surrounded by tax-payer funded security). The police (outside of Chicago leadership) are for it. The overwhelming majority of people (outside of Chicago/leadership) are for it. We are not a third world country where one city controls everything. And when the lawsuits come through, it's going to work against Quinn et al as CCW is determined to be part of the RKBA.
