Violence Policy Center Paradise

From Josh's latest Huffpo screed:
since May 2007, at least 499 victims in 32 states have died in incidents not ruled self-defense involving private citizens legally allowed to carry concealed handguns
Note that it's not those carrying concealed, just those allegedly w/ licenses. Most of his examples have nothing to do w/ CCW at all.  It's also over a period of over 5 years.

Now let's look at a Chicago Tribune headline that is repeated virtually every weekend:

6 dead, 11 wounded across city overnight

This article also includes the shootings of some teenagers the VPC and CSGV  'won't' use as propaganda since all the laws they demand are already in place in the city and they weren't shot by CCW holders. No candle for them.

And as for Josh's penchant to label things 'mass killings' and blame guns:
a man shot his father in the head with a bow and arrow in front of a computer science class not long after fatally stabbing his father’s live-in girlfriend at their home a couple of miles away.

And watch this little bit of terminology:
Christopher Krumm had smuggled the compound bow — a type much more powerful and effective for hunting than a simple, wooden bow — onto campus beneath a blanket, Walsh said.
Change a couple of words and you have the same description the media uses for an 'assault weapon'.

Quinn B!tchslap Pt I

So Il Gov. Quinn tried to be an @ss and rewrite a widely supported ammo bill ( a power he does not have) into the usual anti-gun tripe.

Here's the response in the State Senate.

Any questions?

Now on to the House.

So what do the folks who donate to the Brady Campaign get for their money?

Why the ability to time travel:

Take a look at the dates. They already know what's going to happen. Or the intern screwed up.

Veto Session For Quinn's AWB

From the NRA-ILA:

This past summer, Illinois Governor Pat Quinn (D) vetoed the NRA-backed ammunition purchase reform bill, Senate Bill 681, after this common sense legislation had passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in the Illinois General Assembly (previously reported on here). In a crass attempt to exploit the tragedy in Colorado and seek media attention, Quinn used his Amendatory Veto powers in a brazen attempt to impose more draconian gun control in Illinois. Quinn rewrote the entire bill as an amendment to the Illinois Criminal Code that includes an onerous ban on the manufacture, possession, delivery or sale of commonly-owned semi-automatic firearms (inaccurately referred to as “assault weapons”), .50 caliber rifles and cartridges and “high capacity” magazines in Illinois. Quinn’s amendment additionally tramples on the rights of Illinois citizens by creating a de facto statewide registration scheme for firearms and magazines currently owned.

Idiots on Parade

What do you get "a group of religious leaders, anti-gun activists and lawmakers" together, none of which know the first thing about firearms or the laws governing them?

Why the Stop Concealed Carry Coalition of course.

And just like the CSGV, they are incapable of differentiating between criminals and legal firearm owners. These are the modern day George Wallace's standing on the city steps crying 'Disarmament now, disarmament tomorrow, disarmament forever' as the city's population is slaughtered by the criminals running rampant.

Raaaaaciiiiiiiiiissssssttttt!!!!!!

Again, the only defense presented by Obama supporters.

In response to this post
This post is utterly ridiculous, so is the owner for putting up that sign. So if black people or Jews don't buy from his shop it's ok to post a sign up because it doesn't hurt business or actually helps business. It's ignorant and none of his business.
So choosing a political affiliation is akin to race, creed or color?  If you choose (note that word) to vote for a person who has spent most of his political career opposing a civil right and trying to put people out of business, you shouldn't even attempt to buy the products that are sold there.

Not that any of that matters.  Any opposition to the Lightbringer is 'raaaaaccciiiiiissssttttt'.

Alienating Who Exactly?

Remember that gun shop that put up a sign saying he didn't want any Obama voters as customers?

Did you read the pundits claiming how stupid he was for 'alienating over half the population'?

Turns out, not so much:
“People are saying that I’ve alienated half of our customers,” Reynolds said, laughing. “No, I haven’t. I haven't alienated any of my customers, because the people who voted for Obama don’t buy guns here. They don't come here at all. I haven’t alienated. I’ve improved things. I have packages sitting on my desk to be shipped to places like Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Idaho, Nevada and California.”
For those w/ any sort of clue, this is totally unsurprising.  I would say a significant percentage of people who voted for Obama (like my dead grandma's) don't own guns and wouldn't go to a gun shop in the first place. Yet the people who do buy guns (and pay attention) will go out of their way to give this guy some business.

Pretty savvy for a knuckle-dragging redneck.

Gaming Goodness

As I've said previously, I have very limited painting skills so a friend of mine is (re)painting up some of the mini's that have always been favorites of mine but I never got around to finishing or that just looked like crap.
First up is my unit of 'Wights' from old edition of Warhammer Fantasy.  Heavily armored undead leaders from the past laden w/ magic.  The odd coloring of the weapons is a request of mine since the old warhammer books described them using bronze weapons and wearing 'black iron' or bronze armor. These were the heavy infantry and champions of my undead army.

The next addition to this grouping will be a unit of 'armored skeletons'.  I was always asked why I was bothering buying them since they weren't 'efficient' but I always thought they looked cool so I made up a regiment.
Changing Genre's, we switch to OGRE Mini's. An Combine OGRE Mk III in WWII Afrika Corps colors as a companion to the Mk V.

It's opponents are a Paneuropean 'Luftpanzer' company in German 'Tropical Fleck' pattern.
The infantry would be riding the GEV-Personnel Carriers w/ support by the three GEV's and three lt. GEV's surrounding them. Next (and last for now) up on the OGRE stuff is an Australian (Combine) Coastal Artillery Battery (of which he just sent me a 'sneak peak' and a Nihon OGRE Mk IIIB.

Switching from table top mini's to table top RPG's, I've continued my quest collecting old D&D Modules.

Managed to complete the 'A' series which are all connected plus have picked up a bunch more.  Most of these, especially the 'B' modules are great for new gamers.  My kids wanted me to make them characters so we rolled them up some. A Dwarven Knight (son) and an Elven Wizard (daughter).  I'm working on putting together some simple adventures for them to run through on the weekends I'm not gaming w/ my main group.  I also am working on trying to run some adventures w/ my niece but since she's a distance away, it makes it difficult.  There's some remote gaming sites I've used but they're not ideal.
