Ignoring the Violence, Blaming the Gun

Joyce Foundation puppet group ICHV highlights a video by the anti-gun Sun Times.  It's about Carolyn Murray, an 'Anti-Violence' advocate in Evanston, IL whose son was killed in a shooting. She seems to have done pretty much everything right. He son was attending school and didn't seem to have a history of crime.

Unfortunately that didn't extend to other members of the family. At least one branch of the family were gangbangers involved in a violent feud w/ another gang.  Her son hung out w/ them.
As the trial continued in Skokie, Justin Murray was fatally shot Nov. 29 in the 1800 block of Brown Avenue. Murray, 20, was reportedly a distant cousin of defendant John Bamberg Jr. and Parrott confirmed that Murray "hung out" with Bamberg affiliates...

Police investigating Murray’s murder said it was connected to the bitter family feud, although it’s still unclear whether or not Murray was the specific target in the shooting.
So instead of providing information on the families involved, she instead primarily blames the guns, setting up 'gun buybacks' and working w/ hardcore anti-gun fanatics Fr. Snuffy Pfleger, Rep Jan Schakowsky and the ICHV.

So again, here's my challenge:
Sure, I'll support more gun laws for you, as soon as you and your associates write the names of every family member and neighbor that belongs to a gang and has a gun hidden on a sheet of paper. Let me know when you're done and we'll hold a joint press conference to name names and start to really bring the cycle of violence to an end.
It has nothing to do w/ the guns and everything to do w/ the people.

Say It With Krylon

Last time we visited my Mom's (Firstpower?), Fourthpower Alpha found an old toy helmet I used to play army with.  It was originally a 'spaceman' helmet of some sort w/ a face shield.  The faceshield broke, I pulled it the rest of the way off and then hit my dad's collection of spray paint.  This is what it looked like 30 years later having sat in the basement:

A bit battered after years of faux wars.  Let's fix that.  First a trip to the hardware store:
Set the kids loose to shake up the cans, a few basic lessons in spraypainting and voila, ready for war again.

Bloomberg Stops Terrorists

These two terrorists were just about to blow something up when Bloomie stepped in and personally stopped them:

Do you think he has any idea just how stupid he's making himself and NYC look w/ this idiocy?  One can just imagine him walking down the street and taking candy from children 'for their own good'. (and then of course eating it himself)

Two MAIG's Down, More To Go

Not only the Rockford, IL mayor but apparently the Mayor of Nashua, NH has dropped out as well, realizing what we've known since it was organized.
"Nowhere within the literature of this group was there any indication that there would be campaigns against members of Congress, particularly around issues that were not related to illegal guns," Lozeau said in a statement provided to U.S. News.

"I said, 'Wait a minute, I don't want to be part of something like that,'" Lozeau told the Union Leader on Monday."I told them, 'You're Mayors Against Illegal Guns, you're not mayors for gun control,'"
Anyone who's ever listened to a thing that Bloomie's said should have known though. I've gotten a member to drop out, it can be done.

This is what MAIG had to say:
"Mayors have occasionally chosen to leave the coalition, but our growth has always far outpaced the number of mayors who have departed," the organization said in a statement provided to U.S. News.
Well sure they have, they've used the resources (ie tax dollars/employees) of numerous cities to push for its 'growth'.

Know Your Place Gun Owners

Back of the bus..... Separate but Equal..... Ghetto's... 5 feet behind.   You know, the usual places 'those kinds of people' should be.  Not around 'reasonable' people.

'Those people' in this case being 'wing nut gun owners' according to MAIGFrom an email sent to anti-gun advocates in Georgia:
We have monitored the gun groups’ blogs and are certain there will be some protesters present. The Sheriff’s Dept and Capitol Police will be keeping us safe, and at other stops where, the “wing nuts” were present, they were fairly passive and knew their place.
Isn't that special?  I wonder if she was also paid using some city's tax dollars?  I also wonder if, in between her calls for armed men to protect her from armed me, if she would tell us exactly where our 'place' is?

While waiting for that answer, we'll just keep waiting for the bus to eventually show.

NetRoots Nation's Two Minute Hate

One can almost imagine this scene at the latest 'Netroots Nation' conference which featured numerous panels on how to take down the NRA":

The levels of hate and propaganda there was frightening, especially due to who was spouting it:
"I'm not an ordained minister, I'm not a theologian, but these guys are going to hell," the National Education Association's vice president (Lily Eskelsen Garcia) said..
"The gun lobby has been very smart about figuring out every single loophole to negate the assault weapons ban. We're sick of the loopholes, we're sick of the cat and mouse games," he said. "We need to distinguish between responsible gun ownership, gun ownership for sport ... and the extreme -- the use of rapid-fire weapons that have no purpose but to kill."State Senate President Pro Tem Darrell Steinberg, D-Sacramento,
American Federation of Teachers president Randi Weingarten said the movement should take a page from immigration and same-sex marriage advocates and present clear, touching stories of those who gain and lose from gun violence. "When people see faces and when they are impacted individually, it changes minds," she said.
So IOW they want to call us a bunch of baby killers and constantly rub our faces in the blood of the dead, no matter the facts behind it.

Some of them recognize reality though:
MoveOn.org executive director Anna Galland praised the Netroots Nation crowd. "The grass-roots engagement and leadership here is so important," she said, but only in that it can mobilize the masses. "We need to have a movement that is 10 times bigger, a hundred times bigger than we have now."
Rep. Robin Kelly, D-Ill., acknowledged this discussion in such a liberal venue might have been like preaching to the choir. "But the choir needs practice," she said. "The choir needs encouragement."
Yep, keep telling your remaining sheep that 'we're winning' while the overwhelming majority of the organizations are based around a few people in an office claiming 'grassroots'.  Their 'majority support' only lasts as long as there isn't a new episode of American Idol on.

While they keep focusing on the NRA, it being the '500lb guerrilla', they have less resources to focus on all the state level organizations w/ hundreds, thousands and tens of thousands of members. When they're online, their only recourse from having their pages turned into pro-gun advocacy sites is 'reasoned discourse', deleting comments and banning anyone who varies even slightly from the party line. Like Rep Kelly admits, they need their echo chambers.  When in the meat world, the reality is this: 1, 2, 3, 4

Ignorant and/or Lying

While I know more than the average bear about firearm laws, etc. I am the first one to admit that there are people more knowledgeable than I and that some elements of legislation (especially various 'parliamentary' procedures) baffle the hell out of me.

But when an organization openly presents information that is completely wrong, the ONLY explanation is that they are deliberately lying or they are really ignorant of the topic.

Case in point.  The anti-gun group 'stopconcealedcarry' which I highlighted yesterday has this as their stated purpose:
We support the current Illinois law which prohibits carrying concealed weapons, and we oppose any change in the law that would allow people to arm themselves in public.

We are committed to educating the public about the dangers of hidden guns.

We seek everyone's help in convincing the legislature to keep our state free from concealed handguns
Here's the thing.  The legislature has no choice but to pass some form of Concealed Carry.  The courts have given them until July 9th to do so, ruling the state ban on carrying to be unconstitutional.  The Chicago-crats don't have enough support to pass a 'No Carry' bill so the option was something in between that and 'Constitutional/FOID' Carry. The only real options they have left is for some sort of absolute backstab by Madigan and Cullerton (through some sort of parliamentary procedure) or pin their hopes on a stay by the Supreme Court.

Here's a precursor to what IL will look like going over the 'cliff':

GREEN for go:  The SA has publicly stated that they will not prosecute.
YELLOW for caution:  Local LEOs may not arrest, but if they do, you could be prosecuted.
RED for stop:  Don't even go there.

So again, the legislature really has nothing to do w/ it anymore.  Unless the SCOTUS completely reverses the 7th's decision there's going to be carry in IL.

So Ignorant and/or Lying?  Personally I go w/ just plain stupid.

More Gun Control Grassroots (2Fer)

So for that '90% want more gun control' bit?

A protest outside the ISRA's open house at the range yesterday(around 1000 attendees):

I don't recognize the logo on the car.  Anyone?

Update:  They're from 'stopconcealedcarry.org'.  Looking at their site, they have over 2000 people listed as 'members' along w/ 2 dozen 'institutions' and some legislators. So their participation is less than 1:1000.  So another instance of anyone who signed their 'petition' or for email being listed as a 'member'. They even require it to sign the petition.

And, in Rockford, IL, the mayor has renounced his MAIG membership and denounced the organization as another anti-gun group.
"The reason why I joined the group in the first place was because I took the name for what it said, against illegal guns," Morrissey said.
Morrissey said he didn't expect the organization to get involved with banning magazine clips or "assault" weapons.
"As the original mission swayed, that's when I decided it was no longer in line with my beliefs," Morrissey said.
