The the IL house held its hearing on CCW today. Unsurprisingly, they tried to push all sorts of anti-gun legislation and had a string of anti-gun advocates reading prepared speeches, citing skewed anti-gun prepared statistics and getting very little questioning in response.
The first 3hrs is full emotional diatribes, claims of wild west shootouts (the main argument), gang members shooting up the city and other crap. But if you really want to know why you should be a dues paying member of the NRA and ISRA, go to 2:59:00 where NRA/ISRA lobbying Todd Vandermyde begins.
Now he's used to walking into hostile environments and this is no different. The levels of ignorance and belligerence directed towards him are astounding. He starts by clearing up Chicago's misconception that they can ignore a court decision and then the real fun begins as he compares anti-gun activists to historical anti-rights like Bull Connor. Unlike all the anti-gun speeches, he is subjected to what basically turns into a trial questioning and he slaps them around left and right. They try to badly nail him w/ the Socratic method and they just go downhill from there.
Drury's argument against CCW is that the Illinois State Police are incompetent in handling licenses so IL shouldn't have Concealed Carry. Todd V. responds that IL has had plenty of time to upgrade its systems and the ideas were discussed years ago, now the state has until June 9th. Drury's response is to act like a sh!t and repeat the question again trying to get Vandermyde to agree to a 'delay' by putting words in Todd V's mouth.
'Lost & Stolen'/ban on private sales is then brought up. Todd clarifies the speakers' law and gives the history of registration systems in IL and around the country and why educated firearm owners oppose it. His mention of the Chicago PD losing over 900 firearms and refusing to release the report while at the same time the state is trying to punish legal firearm owners is entertaining. Then 'straw purchasers' is brought into the chime and how there is not prosecuting.
Welch: "We all respect the US Constitution....". You know where it goes from there. Welch wants a 'mass transit' ban. Todd says 'No Compromise'. He then brings up 'duty to inform' and Todd mentions the controversy over it and a video of a stop.
Williams: Some people are too stupid to own a gun, how do we stop them from getting CCW licenses? Really lady?
Simms: Chicago's special and deserves special treatment. Todd V. "You're right, Chicago's especially abusive to the rights of gun owners. " and lists abuses by Chicago. Simms pushes for 'may issue'. "How do you tell Otis McDonald he's a second class citizen because he lives in Chicago". "It's not the people w/ FOID cards who are shooting out streetlights" "It's a right or it's not"
THIS is why it's important to belong to the ISRA/NRA.

IL En Banc Denied. Concealed Carry Soon.
The IL 7th Circuit Court has denied the petition to rehear the Concealed Carry cases. Even the opposing judges recognize (unlike the Chicago lawyers) that CCW needs to be established. UPDATE: Link updated
So this is a step ahead. We need to keep the pressure on to get a nice, 'clean' bill passed.
Second, despite my disagreement with the panel majority,What's really pathetic are the dissenting judge's excuses not to support CCW. They use the situation in NYC where cops chasing a gunman shot up the neighborhood. A Concealed Carry holder would have made it 'worse'.
it’s important to keep in mind what the panel
did not decide. The panel majority opinion is now the law of the circuit, and Illinois has 180 days to decide
how to amend its laws.
We will always need armed police officers, and someYEah, citizens who actually practice w/ firearms that aren't designed to be nearly unusable like the NYPD's are w/ their 12lb trigger pull.
harm will be unavoidable despite their training, skill,
and experience. But consider how much worse the situation
on the crowded streets of New York might have
been if several civilians, without the officers’ training
but carrying firearms lawfully, had tried to help with
their own firearms.
So this is a step ahead. We need to keep the pressure on to get a nice, 'clean' bill passed.
MAIG Members Run Miserable Cities
Forbes put out a list of 'Most Miserable Cities'.
The first four out of five are run by Bloomberg's Mayors Against Illegal Guns (MAIG):
#1: Detroit, MI
#2: Flint, MI
#3: Rockford, IL
#4: Chicago, IL
Coincidence? I think not.

I Still Wasn't Polled
A 'poll' by the Paul Simon Public Policy Institute making the rounds in Illinois media is proclaiming that most Illinoisians want more gun control both Chicagoans and 'Downstate'. They interviewed a whopping 600 people. The do not say how many were from 'Downstate' just 'across the state'. Their questions are unsurprisingly loaded and show an ignorance of terminology and function.
3. Do you favor or oppose banning high-capacity ammunition clips that can contain more than 10 bullets?
4. Do you favor or oppose a law which would make it illegal to manufacture, sell, or possess semi-automatic guns known as assault rifles?
So likely 3/4 of the respondents were from Chicago and don't own guns anyway, a question they conveniently left out.
Oh, and another bit. The Paul Simon Public Policy Institute is a Joyce Foundation grant recipient and several of their board members work together.

Dirty Campaign Money
So it appears the 'in' thing to do among people w/ more money than sense is to spend it trying to buy/influence elections in other parts of the country.
Cases in note:
Bloomie from NY has dumped nearly $2m into the race for the IL 2nd Dist. Dem. Primary (formerly held by soon to be convicted felon Jesse Jackson Jr) to defeat Debbie Halvorson and maintain the district's anti-gun vote.
Now this isn't a new thing for him, he's been throwing his money around trying to buy elections (including his own) for a while now. He's just getting more blatant at it and spending more.
Obama is trying to get into the action as well. His former campaign group has 're-organized', moving to Chicago, and will be spending its money on anti-gun ads 'targeting politicians'. Full out endorsements won't be far behind.
I think it's funny that anti-gunners that are funded by a few billionaires like Bloomie or the Joyce Foundations are the ones that scream loudest about the NRA spending money and getting it from firearm owners and businesses. They are so blind they can't recognize the hypocrisy.

OGRE 6E: Nihon Proofs and More
Got an email today from SJGames w/ the final proofs of the Nihon: NA Division sheets and some lo-res images to use for publication.
I also got to preview some proofs of the 6E Kickstarter specials even outside of the sheet I was sent a few weeks ago. 'Squeee' worthy is putting it mildly nevermind the plans I'm already having to work on for playing (and storage) space of all of it.
I can't wait until June.

Comcast Bans Gun Ads
Nevermind showing gratuitous sex and violence nearly 24/7, obviously banning gun ads will save society:
Chris Ellis, the director of communications at Comcast Spotlight, confirmed the new policy but declined to provide any supplementary information.Well not like I turn on NBC anyway.
“Consistent with long standing NBC policies, Comcast Spotlight has decided it will not accept new advertising for firearms or weapons moving forward,” he said in an email. “This policy aligns us with the guidelines in place at many media organizations.”

IL State Sen. Munoz: Gun Owners Always Responsible
Apologists keep trying to say that bills allowing for
warrantless searches are 'accidents' (like in WA) or that bills banning guns to single shot (like in CT) aren't 'serious' but they keep cropping up, don't they?
And in IL, State Sen. Munoz wants you to be responsible for what is done w/ your gun even if it's stolen (plus a $1m insurance policy).
I normally try to keep the blog family friendly but Fuck You Munoz. You can take your 'insurance policy' and your bill and stuff it up your ass, right next to your head. You stay in your jerrymandered district and let the rest of the (much lower crime ridden) state run itself.

Provides that a person shall be deemed the owner of a firearm after the firearm is lost or stolen until such loss or theft is reported to the police department or sheriff of the jurisdiction in which the owner resides. So never mind that no insurance company is going to offer it, let's say I go visit my mom for the holidays. Jimmy Meth-head breaks into my home, crowbars my safe and then goes and robs the local quickie-mart after selling all my other guns to his buddies for more drugs while I'm away. According to Munoz, it's MY fault and I have to pay for all the damages.

Biden: "Women Can't Handle AR's"
In a statement sure to surprise the tens of thousands of female servicemembers in the US military, Biden has declared that the AR-15 (and subsequently M-16's and M-4's) are just too much for those little ladies to handle and they should all instead be using dbl barreled shotguns to shoot up in the air.
This moron is the most sure life-insurance policy that Obama has. Just how dumb can one person be? and how dumb are the people that listen to him?

Monday Gunday Funday: More CCCP Joy
After much driving due to stupid paperwork and even stupider IL waiting periods, I've added another Cold War trophy to my collection. A 1950 Soviet SKS in very good condition.
It's pouring rain out currently so unwilling to take it out to shoot. Just from basic operating though, the bolt seems smoother than my Norinco SKS and the safety is tighter.
I can't wait to make it go bang.

So Who Wrote The Illegal Search Bill?
WA politician introduces an 'Assault Weapon Ban' that includes the provision of allowing the authorities to search your home annually for 'compliance'. When called on it (by other anti-gunners), he (and the other sponsors) said it was a 'mistake':
Here's the trick. The guy filed the exact same bill w/ said provision in 2010. Just nobody paid attention to it then.
Oh right, because all they care about is banning guns and they don't care how many other rights they trample on in the process. They're only upset they got caught.
The prime sponsor, Sen. Ed Murray, D-Seattle, also condemned the search provision in his own bill, after I asked him about it. He said Palmer is right that it’s probably unconstitutional. And they blamed 'unnamed staff'.
“I have to admit that shouldn’t be in there,” Murray said.
Here's the trick. The guy filed the exact same bill w/ said provision in 2010. Just nobody paid attention to it then.

17 legally possessed on the effective date of this section, the person
18 possessing the assault weapon shall do all of the following:
19 (a) Safely and securely store the assault weapon. The sheriff of

Entertainment Industry Thinks Safety = 'Flying Off The Handle"
So some dumb-ass extra on Tom Selleck's TV show (playing a cop but has never handled a gun, really, I'm not kidding) picks up a gun and starts acting like a dumb-ass, pointing it at people. Selleck rightfully chews said dumb-ass out.
Headlines and descriptions?
Update: So I really need to pay attention to dates. Point still stands though. ;)
