Illinois Private Gun Sales Requirements

It's interesting that while (allegedly) incredibly easy to do, it's fairly difficult to find out HOW to actually do a 'person to person' sale in Illinois after the new law went into effect.   Technically, you're supposed to contact the Il State Police to verify the FOID (Firearm Owners ID) card.  But here's what their info sheet says on 'PTP' sales under 'Acquiring or Transferring Firearms in IL (follow the firearms tab).

Nothing about contacting the ISP to 'verify' there.  Maybe the little disclaimer off to the side is meant for it.

Maybe you're supposed to call?  There is no number listed anywhere though.  The super secret FFL dealer number though is 866-752-1246.  Option #2 is for 'Non-FFL's from what I understand.

After much searching, an actual page was found.  Under 'Firearms', tab to FOID then scroll down to 'Person to Person Firearm(s) Transfer'. Scroll down to "Check FOID Card Status for Private Firearm Transfer".  There is a section there for entering the FOID number, DOB and CAPTCHA code.  Interesting to note that the both the drop down and area to enter the info is below what most phones/tablets would display.  I'm sure that wasn't intentional.

So there ya go.  How to follow the law that has no penalties for not following it.
I don't know if it works as I have not used the system yet.

4thPower A vs 3rdPower: Rnd 2

Rnd 1 here

The boy was on the defensive this time. He went w/ a howitzer heavy defense (3) and decided to try out some Mobile Howitzers w/ his forces.  He split his infantry up into lots of smaller units. Outside of that he picked 3 GEV,s 2 Hvy Tanks and a Msl Tank. I used a 1 hex Nihon Mk III. Here's the initial placement:

I think he did that because either that's similar to how I placed my units the last time we played or it was just closer to where he was sitting. Unfortunately he placed his Command Post (CP) in the center.  So I did what would be expected and ran up the east side of the map bypassing most of his slower infantry.

He used his GEV's fairly effectively, sweeping in and out, managing to take out my Main Battery but not before I had destroyed a Hvy, damaged another and taken out his Msl Tank w/ one of my Msl's.

He focused his Howitzers on my treads to no effect w/ some bad rolls. Then the last Hvy fell to secondaries and a MHwtz to my 2nd Missile. The 2nd MHwtz fell shortly after w/ the Hwtz next.

He decided to keep playing.  By the time I escaped off the board, the GEV's had fallen to ramming due to movement miscalculations. All of my weapons were gone (excluding AP guns) and had full movement left.  Two lone squads of Infantry remained to explain what happened to Division HQ.

Following the game, I gave him some more advice.  Some better placement concepts for his CP, concentration of forces, more effective use of OGRE weapons and not jogging backwards when the goal is to destroy the CP. Next time we're going to up it to a Mk V and see how he does.

Taxing a Right

Hey, did you know that it's legal to tax a constitutional right and that making a requirement to report the name, address and firearm info to the authorities isn't 'really' registration?

That's the latest bit of stupidity to come out of Cook Cnty.

The full dumb@ssery can be viewed here.   This is a judge who did everything he could to try and find any split hair to dismiss the case.

Mom's Demanding 'Action' To Silence Free Speech

While claiming others are 'ignoring and disrespecting the First Amendment'.

Case in point would me IL MDA 'spokespersan' Marjorie Fujara who got the same cutnpaste screed in several papers.  In it, she claims the ISRA was 'fear-mongering' by opposing an 'informational meeting' on CCW.  Let's see who was presenting the 'information'

IL State Rep Laura Fine, the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence, and the Cook Cnty SA office.  All of which opposed the passage of CCW in Illinois and have supported countless bans and restrictions on firearms.  Yeah.  There will be some honest 'information' coming from them.

Then there's this bit:
Last year, an educational event was held at the Glenview Police Station meant to educate the public on gun violence.  The ISRA had issued a similar alert prior to the event and its loyal members turned out en masse and prohibited the panelists from being able to speak uninterrupted, as they heckled any statement they found disagreeable.  As I looked at those around me, I shrank in my seat, feeling as if I was surrounded by a group of schoolyard bullies.
And her evidence of this?  Besides her own word, a HuffPo article that was so biased even the folks at Democratic Underground didn't believe it.

Her own MDA shuts down any opposing views on their sites, needing their echo chamber to survive.  When they don't have that echo chamber, they cry 'bullies' when they can't respond to the facts.

Like CockRoaches in the Light Pt II

Anti gun IL state rep Laura Fine was going to have a 'forum' on how to attack/circumvent concealed carry.  Yeah, that's going to go unchallenged.  The ISRA put out several Email alerts notifying its members to attend.

Via the ISRA:
The ISRA has just learned that the organizers of the meeting have postponed the event until a date to be announced later.  We suspect that the organizers will reschedule after they have found a venue spacious enough to accommodate the large number of law-abiding firearm owners who will turn out for the event.
Her original email:
I am very sorry for the late notice, but due to circumstances beyond our control, our concealed carry forum scheduled for tomorrow, January 22 at 7:00PM at the Glenview Police Station has been postponed.
I will update you as soon as the event is rescheduled.  Thank you for your understanding, and I apologize for any inconvenience this change may have caused.

Yeah, those 'circumstances' I'm sure had nothing to do w/ the fact that her fellow PuSH'ers would be outnumbered 10:1 w/ crowds out the door.

4thPower A vs 3rdPower: Rnd 1

I know the game posts aren't the most popular but I enjoy them.

Took on the oldest boy in a game of OGRE today.  I played the defensive (w/ my Nihon forces of course) and he played a NAC Mk III (Kong).  Thanks to Steve Jackson et al. for that Nihon CP on the KS exclusive Vulcan and Friends sheet.

I started out w/ 2 howitzers, 3 hvy tanks, 3 GEV's and 2 Msl Tanks along w/ the 20 pts of Inf.  I forgot to take a pic of the initial set up.

As soon as the boy got into range, he used both of his missiles to take out a 3pt Infantry. He's a bit obsessed w/ destroying them.  I got numerous units in range and took out his Main battery so he was reduced to Secondaries and AP guns.  Following that, I had a series of monumentally bad rolls allowing him to reduce my forces significantly while taking little damage until he got into range of my Howitzers.  He made the mistake of jogging back to take out some infantry (again) so I was able to slow his movement down to two and take out the rest of his secondaries.

From there, it was just attrition until I stopped him.  Here was the final layout:

Both Howitzers, two Heavies, a GEV and two points of Infantry survived. Next game will be me playing the OGRE and him on the defensive.

Like Cockroaches in the Light

So are the mayors of Bloomberg.

A while back, the Joyce Foundation removed their lists of grant money to anti-gun groups when a spotlight was shown how they were bankrolling that lobby almost exclusively.

Now, via David Codrea's Examiner,  The list of members of Bloomberg's criminal 'Mayors Against Illegal Guns' has gone down the memory hole

This is entirely unsurprising and has likely been in the works for awhile.  They used to proudly list the pictures, names and contact info of their members.  That is until the members started getting regularly arrested/convicted of multiple crimes and the names of former (or sometimes even dead) mayors were being used in official documents. The latest update for Illinois didn't include links to the cities and many of the names were inaccurate.

Just like the cockroaches they are, when the light is shown on them, they run and hide.  If they have so much 'grassroots' support for their cause why then are their members regularly receiving bombardments of calls opposing Bloomberg's nanny-state goals?

Buying 'Grassroots'

Just peeked over at the NGAC page to see what they've been up to since they Reasoned Discoursed me. The usual.  Insults, lies, character attacks, obsessions w/ genitalia.  Then I noticed something.

They've gone from about 900 'likes' which they sat at for years, to over 26000 in just two months.

Yeah, that's legit.  So iow, they got a grant from someone to start dumping money into advertisements and/or 'bots to make it seem like they actual support.  There's a word for that.  What was it again?

Mattoon Gun Show AAR

Smallish show w/ about a dozen vendors. The kind of venue I like.  Fairly steady crowd.  The usual slow points and rushes.  Guns weren't selling but ammo and accessories moved.  One table that had reloading tools was near empty by end of the day Sat.

I had several locals come up who read DOOT.  Always feels good when they do that.  Met some guys who run a local CCW class which is the one I will likely do.  More details on that later w/ a post. My sales were a little bit of everything, uniforms, hats, books, toys, mags, what have you.  Shared part of one table w/ a friend who runs 'Big Game Tek', selling his 'Slick Shot' arrow rest. Again, more details on that later. Also met some guys who run a local gun show that had a couple of Cricket rifles.  Thinking of picking some up for the 4thpwers.

Overall a decent weekend. Tomorrow I'm going to enjoy John Moses Browning day.   I'll be in Paris at the American Legion hall next weekend.
