It's nice to have friends w/ skills. One of my best friends is painting up my OGRE mini's and just completed an Armor/Infantry battalion in a Russian Interior Ministry Arctic Woodland pattern.
I'm thinking about adding a few mobile howitzers to it but he started crying when I mentioned it. He's got quite a bit on his plate already including some Babylon 5, Malifaux, Warhammer and my and his OGRE stuff. . I'll be nice and wait awhile. He does take commissions though if anyone of my readers in interested in having minis painted.

Quick Daniel, to the Brady Cave!
I apologize for not jumping on the Batman Shooting bandwagon but from what I’ve seen, it’s been sufficiently covered. What I haven’t seen is the behind the scenes look into the reaction and underlying strategy of the antis.
That’s where I come in.
I’ve been volunteering for the Brady Chapter here in Oregon to do a little recon on my favorite prey. Last Friday, the day of the Aurora Shooting, we all got called in for an early start and were told we’d be working straight through the weekend.
Wow, epic fail…and not the sort I normally enjoy writing about.
I failed.
After we all chugged 17 bottles of champagne at 4am, they stuck me in a small room for what they called “face book patrol.” I got the crap job of deleting every comment which made them look like the fools that they are because I’m the new guy. I could hear the celebration continue on the other side of the door. After 5 hours straight of hitting the delete button, someone pounded on the door and reminded me to click all the “like” buttons several times.
After sheer boredom set in, I decided to comfort myself by calling an old friend…
Ring…Ring…Ring
Helmke: Hello?
Kaveman: Howdy Paul, how you holding up?
Helmke: (heavy sigh)- I…I dunno.
Kaveman: Depressed about the news, huh?
Helmke: No, I don’t give a crap about the news anymore…I’m unemployed.
Kaveman: But all those innocent victims, I thought you’d be thrilled…to death.
Helmke: Yeah, whatever…screw them.
Kaveman: You’ve gotten jaded my old friend.
Helmke: Yeah, well screw you too, you just called to gloat didn’t you?
Kaveman: True enough, but what did you expect, I got bored.
Helmke: You know what’s gonna happen just as well as I do; you just want to rub salt into the wound.
Kaveman: Whatever do you mean, old friend?
Helmke: Let me tell you what you already know…
Kaveman: Oh boy!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Story time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Helmke: Let me break this down for you like a good recipe for bad ju-ju.
1. Premier showing of a movie about the one and only Super Hero with no super powers. Just a regular guy with lots of disposable income and lots of weaponry…just like you
2. Mass shooting of innocents; the type Batman defends with the most vigor.
3. All subsequent showings of the movie are now filled with people watching a Knight fighting scum bags while having the tickle in the backs of their minds about becoming more like Batman and taking responsibility for their own safety, because deep down, they know that Batman is fiction, but lunatics are very, very real.
4. Gun control advocates and MSM alike throw everything against the wall to see what sticks and can’t help spouting the most outrageous lies which are so transparent that even non gun owners start to question our honesty and integrity.
5. We fracture and fail to present a united front. Brady plays it safe by pleading for background checks on private sales in a piss poor fashion. CSGV pleads for banning mags which hold more than 10 rounds. The VPC goes all bat-shit crazy and screams for banning an entire class of firearms which will never get through congress. SUPGV tries to suck any teat promoted and is relegated to oblivion.
We have no cohesion and therefore no impact.
6. The true antis will force Obama into a corner in an election year and make him look either idiotic or oblivious, neither is good for us.
7. And to top it all off, the Summer Olympic Games are already stealing the spot light.
8. Just as we failed to capitalize on a Senator getting shot in the face, and everything before that, what we are doing now clearly isn’t working.
Kaveman: So what’s you strategy going forward?
Helmke: With my head hung low, I hope the antis have a new generation of small dick jokes.
Kaveman: So you’re pretty much done, huh?
Helmke: We’ve been done awhile now…but…GOD, I hope we have some new dick jokes.
Aurora Shooting AR Magazine Discrepancy
Multiple reports had the shooter using a 100 round magazine that allegedly jammed.
The UK Dailymail has photos of the scene. (Warning: Graphic)
But here's the one relevant to this post:
That's no 100 rnd drum in the rifle, that's a standard 30 rnd. So was a 100rnd'er 'recovered' or was it 'used' and he changed it?
Not like it matters because the anti's will use those pools of blood to dance in to try and ban/restrict anything they can regardless of the facts.

Annual Training
The niece was down for the week and on the last day, the weather was finally cool enough to get some lead downrange. Her choices were the Makarov:
AK
and Dragunov
She did pretty well w/ the Mak when she kept a good grip and didn't anticipate the recoil. The AK was her best overall ("Do you want to shoot another magazine?" "YEAH!!" ) but she didn't hit squat w/ the Dragunov. No biggie. It takes a lot of practice to get used to and the recoil/weight of the rifle was a bit much for her.
This is the future of firearms right here.

Confused
I've been staring at this dangerous 'AK-47' (bought during the AWB, apparently illegally according to the media), 'high capacity magazine' and arsenal of 'high powered assault ammunition' for two hours.
I have had exactly zero murderous impulses nor has it loaded itself and started firing randomly at passerby's.
It must be broken.

Those Scary Airsoft Guns
Why do gun control advocates think they're capable of creating effective legislation when they can't/won't even tell the difference between a toy and a real firearm?
A few years ago we had a politician using a big, scary looking BB gun in one of her campaign ads, deliberately hiding the CO2 cartridge.
Currently we have an advocate that posted a photo of a scary looking gun on the NG(V)AC's FB page:
Now take a look. That cute little sticker on the side? Airsoft gun.
Yep. He needed a photo of a scary looking gun and didn't know anything about it. Just like how California went through a gun catalog to write their first Assault Weapon ban.
And they expect to be taken seriously?

The Failure of Gun Control
Via Anthony Martin and the Denver Post shows exactly what happens when happens when a tragedy strikes.
While the Anti's are using this to push whatever political goal they think they can successfully pursue, the public is waking up to the enabling of these kind of events by 'gun free zones' and the media which glamorizes it. Already there have been multiple copycat attempts just like regularly happens after the news plasters these psycho's faces and names all over.
And each one of these people who buy firearms and get the training is one more person who won't listen to the nonsense from Sugarmann, Horwitz, Gross et al. which is nothing but good.
Background checks for people wanting to buy guns in Colorado jumped more than 41 percent after Friday morning's shooting at an Aurora movie theater, and firearms instructors say they're also seeing increased interest in the training required for a concealed-carry permit.IOW, Americans in general are not falling for the calls that they should be disarmed but instead are realizing that the authorities ARE not and CAN not protect them from madmen (who shall remain nameless).

Old Gun ID Help
A friend of mine gave me a couple of old guns to ID/sell for him. Of course they're ones I know very little about.
First one. A 12ga single shot shotgun w/ a side handle lock (non-functional). I can't find a manufacturer name on it but there is a serial # on the inside where the grip covers the barrel. Barrel is 28 3/4". It is currently non-functional and a complete beater. Unless it's got some sort of historical value or parts, I'm thinking a GSL donation for their next 'buy back'.
Second: A dbl-barrel caplock. One hammer is missing and there's lots of wear/rounding. The single hammer does work and the barrel is 31 1/2":
Any help would be appreciated.

Anaheim CA Police Shoot (Non-Lethals) at Protestors/Rioters
Police shoot bean bag rounds/rubber bullets etc. at a group of protestors (possibly near a riot) that included infants and children after a questionable police involved shooting.
Can we say 'spark' boys and girls?
