Sad Pandas Lose Their Funding

Back in the 90's, it seemed a really good idea to try and re-frame the attempt to ban guns as a 'health issue' instead of what it really was, projection and fear mongering. It worked pretty well for awhile as the AAP et al got involved and the CDC started copying research hacks like Wintemute, Kellerman and Hemenway.

Then the NRA stepped in and the CDC got their Peepee's slapped for getting into politics. Once it dropped out of the media, private money started drying up as well.

The amount of money available today for studying the impact of firearms is a fraction of what it was in the mid-1990s, and the number of scientists toiling in the field has dwindled to just a handful as a result, researchers say.

And, said hacks, seeing their grant money dry up, whine and cry that their pre-determined conclusions aren't very popular anymore.

“The National Rifle Association and its allies in Congress have largely succeeded in choking off the development of evidence upon which that policy could be based.”

No, they're keeping activist hacks like Hemenway et al from presenting selectively chosen numbers as 'evidence' and giving groups like the Brady Campaign, VPC ect. sound bites they can use over and over again no matter how inaccurate they are.

And I'm going to do my part to make sure that money stays unavailable to them.

Family Shooty Fun

Since I couldn't make it to the LuckyGunner Shoot, I took the Fourth-powers Alpha & Beta out for some firearm fun and safety training.

Then we broke out the SKS w/ some Daddy support.



We all had a good time. A few safety violations but they were turned into learning experiences. I need to get myself and them out much more often.

Networking

I ordered 3 “Kalashnikitty” T-shirts last year and wore mine today at work. One of my extended work group peers saw it and asked me if I was a gun owner.

I said “Oh yes, I’m actually what some would call a gun nut extremist.”

We then conversed for the next 45 minutes(while seated) about AR platforms, Top shot, Bob Munden, ammo prices, CCW, Nossler vs. Hornaday, chain guns, ballistic coefficients, bullet drop, varmint guns, the Civil War, the 1968 GCA, the 1934 NFA, suppressors, and reloading recipes. After we both determined that we should probably “get back to work,” we spent another 15 minutes talking guns while standing.

I barely know the guy, and he barely knows me. We work in adjacent labs but that’s about it.

At the time, I was just happy to be paid for talking firearms at work when I should have been…uh…working.

But on the drive home, I realized that we had talked about guns for a full hour while never mentioning the NRA, the Brady Bunch, the CSGV, MAIG, VPC or anything even remotely related to any of that crap or whatever and that.

Face it.

We engage the crusty douche-nozzles for entertainment purposes. Yeah ,we gotta hold a torch to SCOTUS and BATFE nominees, but little shit like HuffPo and Twitter are explored for a cheap laugh.

We walk the halls of congress while they try to get their twitter feed re-instated.

We fight everywhere; at every turn, at every opportunity.

They throw the golden ring they think they have at every wall they encounter in the hopes that we will not counter attack with the truth.

As long as we are who we are, they CAN NOT win.

It's that time of year again. I need to update my 2A list. I started this many years ago in an excel spreadsheet with the make/model of every gun I own along with the serial # and what I paid for it. A few years back I cataloged all my ammo in each caliber and type...FMJ, hollow point, shot, AP(legal in Oregon), frangible, etc.

I started out with the idea that I wanted to keep track of every round just for inventory purposes. Firm believer in having at least 500 rounds for each gun on hand I am. I tried to be smart about it and split every caliber into two groups.

1. Cache ammo
2. Range ammo

If I have 2678 rounds of 7.62x39, I cache 2500 rounds and I keep the extra 168 rounds in a seperate location for target practice. I only count the cached ammo on my spreadsheet. Once I deplete my range ammo, I move an even number amount from cache to range and track that number. I kinda slacked off and haven't tracked squat for at least 3 years.

I should probably add that self defense ammo is also not counted or tracked. I only track that which I believe should be hidden from those who would wish to track it.

This will be my first attempt to record every single round(number and type) inside my walls as well as my magazines and their round capacity. I'm also taking this opportunity to inspect for rust/corrosion/bent feed lips, blah blah blah.

I figured a 3-day weekend would be perfect for my endeavor, but I'm feeling a bit daunted.

I'm looking at at least 50 mags and 1500 rounds of ammo, and that's just what's in my kitchen.

I figure I should be able peek into my gun room late saturday or early sunday.

The room in which I sleep is probably gonna slow me down a bit.

The antis will read this and get a diaper-tearing erection, but if they would only step back and recognize that storing a drum mag next to a coffee maker isn't that different than storing incendiary ammo next to the peanut butter.

For those who gain my trust, I'll tell you what I have stored next to the smoked paprika.
