Add Religious Bigotry to the List

Via DOOT reader LC Scotty comes this gem from the Brady Campaign FB page (verified by me):

Andrew Goddard, father of VT victim Colin Goddard, and current spokesman for gun control has a very 'progressive' view towards other religions:

Nevermind the references to making a 'Utah Ghetto' to stick all those 'undesirables'.

This is the face of gun control advocacy.

Perhaps it has something to with... I dunno... MISSOURI EXECUTIVE ORDER 44, also known as the MORMON EXTERMINATION ORDER. It's not like Mormons had been persecuted in the past for having strange believes compared to Catholics or Protestants.

Something even more sick? It wasn't repealed until 1976. As a Mormon myself, I'd say having these gun laws makes us mighty safe here in our 'Utah Ghetto.'

As far as them saying us religious nuts should have more restrictive gun laws, I merely point to Luke 22:36. "He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one."

Jesus' own words.

I wonder if these halfwits comprehend that Mormonism is nothing more than a sect of Christianity...

I wonder how many of them claim to be "Christian"?

Considering that they ruthlessly patrol their boards deleting anything that even whiffs of disagreement with the party line, it's fair to say that this is the official position of the Brady Campaign, is it not?

I know the antis are bigots, but religious bigots is a new one. Can't recall ever seeing that one before.

High five, Tango.
I'm a non-Mormon who has lived in Utah over fifty years. If the best the Brady Bunch can do is insult my LDS relatives and friends, they can kiss my agnostic ass.

Just remember, it's not bigotry if they do it.

Markie Marxist sez: "Mormons are slated for the Gulag. It's just common communist sense to dispense with people who think outside the Marxist box. We commies have done that all throughout our history. Nothing new for us, really."

A blogger had a picture recently with an updated version of Luke 22:36. "He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a lever action winchester, sell your cloak and buy one."

I think I have the link below.
See - http://passtheammo.com however, I could not find it there last time I searched.

"...Mormonism is nothing more than a sect of Christianity..."

Nope. Strictly speaking, like the Unitarians-Universalists, they don't really make the cut for mainstream Christianity (though over a different detail of doctrine). This is not to put the LDS down or to deny their faith has enormous common ground with Protestantism or even Catholicism, it's simply a matter of creed and definition.

@Roberta X "a matter of creed and definition"
Whose definition? Yours? Here's mine: Christian- someone who believes that exaltation is only through Jesus Christ. Miriam-Webster: Christian- one who professes belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meet both definitions.

Those of you like RobertaX are dishonest liars for saying Mormons aren't Christians. Just because you don't understand all of his teachings in the same way we do doesn't mean you can slander/libel us to everyone else.

As if "Mainstream Christianity" could define then exclude anyone who professes a belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ from being called Christian. Since when is Mainstream-anything necessarily a good thing? Democracy is oppression of the 49% by the 51%. If we put Christianity to a popular vote then we'd all be wiped out by the other world religions. We should unite on our principle of Faith in Jesus Christ and following His commandments.

Excluding and disparaging other Christians is a decidedly un-Christian thing to do.
