Setting up the Dominoes

San Francisco, CA
Chicago, IL
Evanston, IL
Morton Grove, IL
Oak Park, IL

It feels like we're playing DefCon.

Wilmette, IL has already suspended their handgun ban.

In a 5-4 decision, the court struck down Washington, D.C.'s ban on handguns, a prohibition similar to those used in several major cities, including Chicago, and a handful of suburbs including Wilmette, Evanston, Winnetka and Oak Park."The Law Department and the Police Department have suspended enforcement of the ordinance pending further review by the Village Board," Wilmette village attorney Tim Frenzer said Thursday. "Based on the decision today, at a minimum it calls into serious question the continued viability of the ordinance."

Morton Grove to follow suit?

And that's just the low hanging fruit.

Wait until we get to the really fun stuff like may-issue carry laws and onerous registration requirements.

Even states like Texas with its silly ban on open carry are going to see some Heller action.

Alan, I cannot see Heller having any effect of May or Shall issue, seeing that could be seen as a 10th Amendment issue. Or even the method or location of carry, as in the mentioned Texas.

Now, registration, that could happen, seeing it could be used to deny ownership. Sort of like Jim Crow laws were used to deny voting.

yeah, I suspect that's the next front in the war as it were.

Shall we play up the "Bush is Hitler" hysteria to our benefit? Lets.

Would YOU want a government under the control of George Bush knowing you had a gun, when all they have to do is cross check and find any info on you they want in the giant government databases?

On a slightly related note, have you actually played that game, Third? I was about 2 centimters away from snagging it at Fry's a few days ago, but my financial advisor (otherwise known as "wife") squashed it. Would it have been worth it?

I downloaded the Demo version and will be buying the full key for my B-day. I played the original GWBasic Global Thermonuclear War game when I was a kid and am still morbidly fascinated by it.

Damn you for convincing me to download the demo. I will be snagging a full key in short order as well.

Addictive, isn't it?
