#GenCon 2014 Day 1A

I have arrived in Indianapolis. This is the view from my hotel room:

A quick shower and getting my badge from the press room, A quick trip to the floor before it closed.

 There I got to meet Jen Page of 'Gamers' fame and picked up her new film 'Project London'

Then over to the Zombie Orpheus booth where I met producer Ben Dobyns who produced the the Gamers films and Dark Dungeons.  JR Ralls was at the showing (which we mistimed) and so hopefully I'll meet him tomorrow and get some autographs. Then to the SJ Games booth so I could get the release of Knighmare Chess before they got sold out and chat w/ some SJG people.

 We then went to Munchkin Tavern for some (expensive) food before heading back to the room to decompress for a bit.  Tonight we have tickets for the 'Late Night Puppet Slam':

Gun Control 'Blood Money'

Anti-gun activist who didn't know the law in GA gets her undies in a wad when she discovers the guns she 'bought back' will be auctioned by police to FFL's.

“My whole objective was to get them off the streets,” she said. “I don’t agree with the law that has been passed, and I think we (should) pressure our local legislators to find ways to change that.”

While she's at least honest in not going on about 'safety' or whatever the current meme is and just wants to get rid of guns nor that they all have to go through background checks before being sold to the public, she's got no problem demanding some of the money the county got from the sale:

"We came here asking for proceeds from a local gun auction that was developed here last month. We supplied guns and we want some money to come to our organization," said Watson.

She didn't do the research, she shouldn't get any.  If she wants money from firearm sales, she can get herself an FFL and set up shop buying and reselling firearms to fund her organization.

Geek Joy: Dark Dungeons the Movie Is Here w/ Review

A long time ago, on a Kickstarter far far away...

Not really that long though as far as KS's go, I funded an independent film bringing to life the classic anti-RPG 'Dark Dungeon' Chic comic. It arrived today, just in time to bring to GenCon Friday for automographs.

Will post a review after viewing.

Review:  A worthwhile 35 or so minutes.  I was wondering how they were going to make an 18 'page' micro comic into a 2 hr move.  I'm glad they didn't Hobbit it.  Lots of gamer references (including the Hobbit), KODT, gazebos, The Gamers movies (note the cult leaders), and numerous others.  Check out the name of the evil fraternity they go to for the RPG party for a real laugh. It's even funnier watching it w/ the subtitles on.

Spoiler Hint: Zeta Omega Epsilon 

They stick fairly close to the original story w/ all the famous lines.  The over the top acting is perfect for an over the top story and everything was much higher quality production than you would expect from an 'Indi' film w/ a budget of $25K.  The Cthulhu CGI were notoriously low budget however.  The CinC started out w/ "There's a lot of Christian bashing in this, isn't there?"  She lessened her initial planned hostility when I explained the original comic made references to Tolkien and Lewis being occult figures (which is mentioned in the movie) while in reality both were devout Christians. This is about Chick, not religion.

For an Indy flick, this gets 5/5 stars.  I'm glad to have funded it and it will get watched multiple times. Watch it w/ the subtitles on.  It adds to the entertainment.

Chicago & LA: Faking Crime Numbers

Two of the largest cities in the country w/ some of the strictest gun control laws have made it work so well they need to fabricate crime numbers to show how well it's working:

The LAPD misclassified nearly 1,200 violent crimes during a one-year span ending in September 2013, including hundreds of stabbings, beatings and robberies, a Times investigation found.
Nearly all the misclassified crimes were actually aggravated assaults. If those incidents had been recorded correctly, the total aggravated assaults for the 12-month period would have been almost 14% higher than the official figure, The Times found.

The tally for violent crime overall would have been nearly 7% higher.

So when will it come out that NYC's crime numbers are equally faked?

Gun Sales Up Across Area 

 Anti-gun groups can repeat their '90% want more gun control' mantra all they want but when it comes to REAL numbers, such as those who show up to pro-rights events and/or are buying guns, it's our side that has the strength behind it.

And while at the same time hundreds of people are buying AR pattern firearms to protect themselves,  anti-gun judges and politicians are working to keep those same guns out of the hands of the public.

I do wonder though how many of those people now buying firearms also voted for the same anti-gun politicians above or answered polls in the affirmative to more 'gun control'.

The Real Reason ABA Opposes Stand Your Ground Laws

• Victims’ rights are undermined in states with statutory immunity from criminal prosecution and civil suit related to Stand Your Ground cases.

It reduces the amount of people they can sue and actually makes prosecutors have to work instead of just indicting anyone they feel like.

And did homicides really 'increase 8%" in SYG states after the laws were passed or is this more sudoku math to try and get the desired results? I know where I'ld lay my money.

Poor Bloomie

Tries to buy a sheriff and fails.

A pro-gun incumbent sheriff in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, beat back the anti-gun money of former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to win his primary contest for re-election by a handy margin, 52-48 percent.

That's going to become a campaign slogan soon "Bloomberg supports my opponent. Vote for me instead of him."

Of Famous Dice & Cyborg Zombie Tanks

One of my 'Early Bird' rewards from KS'ing Gamers 3: Hands of Fate was a die used in the film along w/ a CoA (my suggestion btw):

I really want to get it shadowboxed but this will do for now. As of this time, I've been unable to locate it but have been told to "Check the tournament tables". I call on my gamer geek readers to assist me in this.  Time stamps and/or screenshots would be appreciated.

Also, the other day, I got in the mail an old copy of Analog magazine from Nov. 1969.

  The historical relevance of this issue is known to many an OGRE player or fans of the BOLO series of works by Keith Laumer. It has in it the story 'Gottlos' (translation: God Lost/Godless/Ungodly) by Colin Kapp about a 'warmech' w/ a dark secret.  I first heard about this story decades ago and finally got inspired to find a copy on Ebay. There were quite a few available and at decent prices. 

This week I will be going to one of the gamer mecca's, GenCon, w/ press creds. in hand.  I'm hoping to get some great photos, lots of autographs, and maybe even some interviews. 

Chicago's 'Racist Codewords'

Anti-gun activists have long attempted to smear pro-rights groups as 'racists' using 'codewords' like 'gangbanger' and 'inner-city' to mean we hate all blacks. 

I wonder how they feel now that the media and the city of Chicago are using the same terminology.

What are the party promoters and club owners talking about?

 Sources tell CBS 2 club owners have been told to be mindful of using certain promoters to book concerts or parties that can bring violent patrons

 And the result?

Hmmm.  Sounds familiar.

The suspension of the Phi Beta Sigma came about after a barn party shooting at 2:24 a.m. Sept. 15 that left three attendees hospitalized. The gathering, which allegedly had several hundred and perhaps as many as 1,000 attendees, was hosted by Phi Beta Sigma and was promoted by G.O.M.A.B. Productions out of the Chicago area.
