#JourneyQuest S3; Last Week

Before Zombie Orpheus Entertainment/Dead Gentlemen started the KS for JourneyQuest Season 3, they did a pre-pledge drive, asking fans to sign up as a promise to support at least $100 to get S3 off the ground.  They needed 4200 people to do that and over the course of a few months, they exceeded that goal.

Over the three weeks + of the KS to date, it's sitting at a hair under 3K pledges. Only 760 people have pledged $100 plus (about a dozen or so in the thousands.  About 1700 people have pledged $25 or $50 and about 450 have thrown in a few bucks as a thank you (that is much appreciated).

So that means several thousand people have basically thrown JQ under the bus by promising to pledge and then either not doing so or only putting in a smaller amount than they promised.

I'm going to keep this family friendly and not say what I really think about that.  There's always exceptions and issues but not in these kinds of numbers.

'Dragon Sheath's' KS from #DogMight Games

I've picked up a number of items from this company including a Dice Box, Dice Tower, and a board game.

Their latest KS is for an accessory they call the 'Dragon Sheath'.

Saw this meme on the book of face:

We all know how accurate meme's are so I did some googling. Yep. While not 100%, it's an accurate quote.

Her 22 yr old son (w/ a 6yr old of his own) 'works two jobs' and decided to drop $600 on three pair of limited edition Air Jordan Nike's.  Shortly after leaving the madhouse sale, he gets ventilated by a thug for them. 

She thinks it's Nike and Michael Jordan's fault for 'creating a culture' of shoe desire which leads towards violence. 

"My son's life was worth more than a pair of shoes," Williams told reporters. "Nike and Michael Jordan didn't pull the trigger that took my son's life, but with great power comes great responsibility."

Wonder how many lawyers are standing behind her whispering in her ear?  Let's break this down shall we?

Her son has a child when he's 16. He's working, kudos, but instead of putting money towards a better life/future for his kid, he's dropping it on frickin' shoes.  How many pairs of shoes could he have bought that kid for that $600? 

And that's not even going into the trash that did the killing itself. 

 "Particularly in the inner city, these sneakers mean so much more. These kids form their identity around this material possession."

This isn't over food, water, or other critical items during a time of shortage, that at least makes sense.  This is over shoes w/ a checkmark and a name on them.  Neither Nike nor Jordan are responsible for creating this 'culture', only idiots who have no sense of priorities. 

When the stupidity comes home to roost, the fingers get pointed at whoever can pay the most money so they can go out and spend it on more shoes.

Must Be A 'MicroAggression'

Gods I hate that phrase. Talk about a First World concept.

So I've got some stuff up on Ebay.  The usual. Patches, gaming stuff, etc.  With all the orders, I send a card for the site, either loose in the envelope or stapled to an invoice.  With the gaming related stuff, I send a copy of the Chick Tract 'Dark Dungeons' to which I've stamped a link to the blog's gaming stuff.

Anyone w/ a clue should recognize the irony in that.

Apparently that got someone's panties in a twist as I got this feedback:

The Chick Track and political propaganda were completely unnecessary.

Sad really that people are this oblivious and that they feel the need to react so negatively.

Camo Gun Sleeves

At the last flea market, I managed to get a few bolts of camo material, licensed Multicam and Navy woodland.  Into my head came an idea.  I love camo.  I want my guns camo but don't want to paint them or use camowrap.  I needed something that I can change depending on the environment and/or my preferences at the time. So I started sketching.  A local sewing shop took care of the rest. 

A stock sleeve w/ a closed off end and two barrel sleeves, one long, one short. 

This is the way it looks on my AK and Dragunov. 

All openings have paracord and toggle stops to close it tight. The stock sleeve has a hole to allow for a sling.  This first prototype turned out pretty well.  I've got a few adjustments to make for the next one I have made.

BBQ Bacon Wrapped Shrimp

Decided to experiment and expand my repertoire.  Had a bag of shrimp left over from New Years and a package of bacon (which no fridge should be without) so went ahead and tried to make one of my favorite sports bar meals.

Threw some of the extra bacon and shrimp into a pan to fry up.

The final result

Not 100% of what I was going for but the spawnlings all said they really liked it. Think I'll do it w/ jumbo shrimp next time, maybe on a skewer instead of toothpicks.

Save GunFreeZone

Mig needs some help keeping GFZ up and running.  

I have to upgrade, I need your help and unfortunately there is no Bloomberg equivalent on our side. My goal is to raise $650 to lock down service for the next three years. That should cover hosting, domain name, privacy and other security stuff so the site does not get hacked/abused/etc (they have tried in the past).
