Understatement....

In another hit piece on the NRA's Eddie Eagle program in VA, the 'Authorized Journalist' personally interviews good ol' Joshie Sugarmann of the VPC, introducing him w/ this line:
Another perspective comes from the Violence Policy Center, a nonprofit lobbying group in Washington that often advocates for gun control.
'Often'? Heh. How about 'exclusively'.

His only research into Eddie Eagle? Looking at the NRA's website.

And they wonder why their medium is dying.

Chicago's Finest

No not the CPD but the goblin who was ventilated by the 80yr old Chicago Vet w/ an unregistered handgun.

And as is typical, he's got a nice long history of violence and drugs.

"Nelson (see prison photo at right) had a 13-page rap sheet that includes a number of drug and weapons convictions dating to 1998, according to police and court records."

But of course his momma says he was a 'good boy':

"I just don't want to believe it's true," said his mother, Lenora Nelson, who said her son earned his GED while in custody and had just signed up for an online carpentry program. "He could fix almost anything," she said.

So I wonder how many breakin's he committed before he earned his latest conviction?

Paul Helmke may be right (for once)

He goes on and on about Palin and the lack of the current administration to live up to its campaign promises on banning guns. He may be right.

After Mexican president Calderon again blamed the US for the collapsing condition of his own country, O sidestepped the issue:

Not only will the White House not make good on candidate Obama's promise to revive the ban or Holder's announced decision to do so, it won't even talk about the assault weapons ban. Not a word. The reason is obvious: Obama and his aides don't want to spark a backlash from the NRA and voters who cling to their guns—especially as Democrats ride toward a difficult mid-term election. On this dicey topic, Obama cares most about ducking a political bullet.

Kind of shows where the political wind is blowing, doesn't it? Especially after the Brady Bunch flexed all their political muscle by assigning him an 'F'.

Handgun Ban Support Collapsing

Like the old joke "A Liberal is just a Conservative who hasn't been mugged", a gun banner is someone who isn't in danger. Chicago news stations are reporting that, after dozens of shootings over the last few days, people previously anti-gun are looking forward to being able to own firearms.

Gowder, who said his mother had always been in favor of gun control, has now changed her mind.

"My mother, who is in 60s, now feels she needs to have a gun and she needs to take lessons so that she will be qualified in case somebody kicks in her door," said Gowder.

I wonder if they realize the roadblocks Daley is going to put in place to keep them defenseless.

Unpossible

Jamaica, an island nation, with very restrictive firearm laws put out a fake news broadcast of police officers being killed by drug lords during a shootout.

We know it's fake because there is no way that criminals can obtain guns when these strict laws are enacted on the populace especially when the nation is surrounded by a natural barrier like the Caribbean.

Right?

"Somewhat Anachronistic"

That's the view that the Illinois ACLU holds of the Second Amendment. Ironically, what they use to justify their opinion is itself anachronistic, US v Miller from 1939. No mention of Heller or McDonald.
So instead they resort the the typical red herrings of the gun control movement:
The ACLU therefore believes that the Second Amendment does not confer an unlimited right upon individuals to own guns or other weapons nor does it prohibit reasonable regulation of gun ownership, such as licensing and registration.
Very few people argue it's an 'unlimited right' nor does any reasonable person consider the registration systems in place such as Chicago or DC 'reasonable'. And the use of the slippery-slope to nukes is just pathetic to see from an organization like this.

I wonder what they they would say to the FACT that the Illinois State Police regularly violates state law by delaying the issuing of licenses up to 6 months.

Perhaps the ACLU should enter the 21st Century and its progressive views of the Second Amendment.

Back in Business

The IL House is scheduled to reconvene today at 4pm, presumably to continue working on the budget. The OCD that 'gun control advocates' suffer from will most likely force them to try and ram through as many of their bills as possible, neglecting the financial disaster that this state is in.

Call your reps and let them know what you think of these bills and the PuSH'ers attempts to create more pointless restrictions and avoiding what they're supposed to be doing.

Hoplophobes Speak With Forked Tongues

Paul Helmke, President of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership:

Despite Palin's scare tactics, gun bans and confiscations are out of the picture...

Dennis Henigan, Head Lawyer for Brady Campaign:

President Calderon understands that it does no damage to the Second Amendment to protect police officers from assault weapons.

So while whatever intern is posting Helmke's blog is saying that talking about 'gun bans' is paranoid, the intern posting on Henigan's blog is endorsing gun bans.

They need to coordinate their lies better.

Why Are Anti-Gunners So Violent?

Chicago Mayor Daley hopes Supreme Court Judges are violently attacked so he can keep his gun ban.
"Maybe one of them will have an incident and they'll change their mind over night, going to and from work."
Nudge nudge, wink wink, say no more?

Yet he does:
"It's been very effective," Daley said, picking up a gun from the dozens displayed on a nearby table. "If I put this up your butt, you'll find out how effective it is. Let me put a round up your, you know."

Stay classy Dick.

The ISRA responds.

More Wishful Thinking

Josh Sugarmann of the VPC is upset that semi-autos formerly known as 'sporters' are again being called 'sporters' and that his ability to confuse people in order to ban guns is being reduced.

So now he continues running around in circles yelling "THE INDUSTRY IS DYING!!! THE INDUSTRY IS DYING!!!" because the bubble is bursting during a recession.

Of course he has to repeat the 'Myth of the decreasing gun owners' and the myth that the industry has been decreasing for decades.

By that logic, the 'gun control' movement is dying as well. Oh, wait, it actually is.
