Fudd/Only One In Action

It's entertaining to watch an alleged 'Only One' and confirmed Fudd's arguments devolve.  On the NG(V)AC's latest (oct 8th) 'fact', a guy goes on about how 'gun owners aren't responsible enough' and then starts listing his masters thesis in firearms.  'Combat Vet', 'Peace Officer', 'competitions', etc.  By his standards, 3.6m+ CCW licenses need to be revoked.

This is where it gets really entertaining:
By having a gun in the home the chances of someone living in the home being shot by that gun are far greater than a criminal getting shot with it. This is statistically proven.
His 'evidence'?  You guessed it. Kellerman. So I pound the hell out of him w/ actual numbers. His response?  Not refuting any of this actual evidence but instead to call me a 'fanatic',compare me to a litany of other causes and ask me how many dead children I find acceptable before mandatory training is required for all firearm owners.

His answer. Zero.  I then laughed at his lack of reality and he tried to change the subject from mandatory training which he earlier advocated to youth education like Eddie Eagle, child deaths included w/ adults, carrying v ownership, etc.  All over the place.

His final response is typical. He took his ball and went home:
This has reached well beyond the waste of time point. You seem like the type that needs the last word. So I will be ignoring you now.
Which he did and continues to spout his gun control endorsing statements: "I can't foresee the need for an AR 15 with a 100 round mag."  while claiming he doesn't support 'gun bans.

This is the kind of uneducated twit that the Brady Campaing, VPC and CSGV Feed off of. I have no patience for them and will continue to tell them how stupid they are and what they're really doing for firearm rights.

UPDATE: Well it looks like 'Brent' removed the majority of his comments, specifically the ones where he parrots the gun control party lines and proves himself to be a true blue Fudd and 'Only One'.  I guess he wasn't so confident in his expertise after all if he now chose to hide it from the world.

Paper Armor

For years the refrain has been (from the authorities) "If you try and defend yourself, you'll just get hurt worse", "A gun will just be taken away and used against you", and "Trust in the authorities to protect you, they're the only ones professional enough".

Screw that.
Online court records showed a temporary restraining order was issued against Haughton in Milwaukee County Circuit Court on Oct. 8 because of a domestic abuse complaint.

Haughton appeared in court Thursday, when a no-contact order was issued and he was told to turn all his weapons over to the sheriff's department.
If there is a chance of violence against you, domestic or otherwise, prepare to defend yourself in every way possible. Then at least you have the opportunity to avoid becoming a statistic.

Josh Sugarmann: "Disarm Black Males"

Black women in America are almost always killed by someone they know, most often with a gun, and usually as the result of an argument...
93 percent (463 out of 499) of the homicides of black females were intra-racial (meaning that both the victim and offender were of the same race).
The average age of black female homicide victims was 35 years old.
So the obvious solution as proposed by Josh Sugarmann of the VPC is to disarm black males (specifically between the ages of 18 and 65) since that would reduce gun homicides against black women by 93%.
"Successful efforts to reduce America's black homicide toll must put a focus on reducing access to firearms."

Makes sense right? If it saves just one life it should be endorsed and promoted by all gun control groups. Will Ladd Everitt, Josh Horwitz and Dan Gross jump on board for this? How about Mayor's Bloomburg or Emanual? They're all one big happy Joyce Foundation family and should support eachother's endeavors.

Obama Used 'Racist Code Language'?

According to the CSGV he did. From the debate:
"If we're gonna go after folks who are here illegally, we should do it smartly and go after folks who are criminals -- gang bangers. People who are hurting the community.
Now let's look at a conversation from the CSGV on Twitter:

So talking about 'gang bangers' is specifically referring to inner city minority kids. I'm sure since their messiah is using the expression though, it means something different as words change meanings depending on what political party you belong to.

More 90's Style Social Indoctrination

Been watching the old TV Series 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' on DVD over the last few months.  One thing I've noticed is the portrayal of guns right out of the Joyce Foundation/EIC playbook, iow, as buffy puts it:
"These things? Never helpful."  Although she's perfectly ok using crossbows, swords, axes and even a rocket launcher to hack, slash and blow things up. Outside of the 'Government Conspiracy' (which later becomes helpful), let's take a look at some of the stereotypes and outright fabrications used in the show.

All civilian uses of firearms (few admittedly) in the show are in a negative light, the only intent is to hurt/kill the main characters.

In the episodes 'Seeing Red' and 'The killer in me', the character 'Warren' (actually a glamored Willow in the 2nd ep.) goes to an FFL, buys a handgun and walks out w/ it.  Sunnydale is in California.  California has a 10 day waiting period to prevent just such fictional 'crimes of passion'. Nor would Willow have had the 'Warren' ID, licensing or registration required as per CA law.  Apparently the police also never issued a warrant for him after his attempts at robbing an armored car, murder and attempted murder which would have shown up on his various background checks.

That's California for you.

Interestingly, they KEEP the illegally purchased firearm in their home stored in a paper bag w/ numerous under 18 yr olds present. California has 'Child Access Prevention' and 'Safe Storage' laws requiring firearms to be kept in a locked device and away from 'Children'.

So yeah, I know. Silly drama/action/sci-fi show.  But this goes along w/ the clear trend at the time to manipulate views and propagandize using television and movies using funding by gun control lobbyists.

CSGV Believes This Girl Was Wrong

BRYAN COUNTY, OK - A man who broke into a home near Calera got a surprise Wednesday morning, when he was shot by a 12-year-old girl who was in the home alone.
According to Ladd Everitt and the CSGV, this girl has a 'duty to retreat'.  She locked herself in a closet.  But Ladd and his fellow cultists would still believe she was in the wrong because, when the scum tried to get into the closet, the girl fired through the door, hitting him. And what do the say about that?

"'Using armed violence in any context is flat out wrong..."

Now according to Cook County idiot Prickwenkle, people like the girl and her mother should be punished via tax because he was taken to a hospital as a 'gun violence victim' while Joan Peterson and Ladd Everitt will light a candle for him

Now me personally, I think this girl did everything right. She called her mom (who obviously trained her daughter in the safe use of firearms), called 911, got a gun, went to a safer location and then shot the POS when he kept pursuing. Gun control advocates, however, believe we should trust in the good intentions of a criminal while they're in a home alone w/ a 12yr old girl.

Which policy do you think makes sense?

OGRE 6E Delayed till 4/13

From the latest update by SJG, the game has been delayed till at least 4/13 due to production difficulties.
It will be months. First, obviously, we’ve got to get everything actually finished and to press. That’s getting close, but it is NOT done. Then Phil says we should allow a month just for the questions from the factory. Then Chinese New Year will cost another month, more or less. Then printing. Then ocean freight. Best case: April? Maybe?
Nihon sheets are still available for pre-order, there has not been any change in that but it gives me more time to refine the data/info sheet that is being included w/ all orders.

Chicago Cultural Weekend

With another weekend of 30+ shootings across the city, the usual calls go out for more gun bans and restrictions on those NOT doing the shootings. Let's take a look at one of the most visible of the shootings from the weekend.  A 17yr old, I'm going to guess w/o a FOID card, Chicago Handgun License, or CCW license from any state, opened fire on a unmarked police car w/ a .38 revolver, after ignoring instructions to stop, firing five rounds at the officers.

Said 'good boy' is a gang banger and proud of it.

This wonderful human being who was just returning books to the school library has a wonderful mugshot as well.  Just look at those loving, caring eyes.

90% of the homicides in Chicago are committed by people just like our schoolboy above. This is the kind of person that gun control advocates like Ladd Everitt and Joan Peterson say we should trust not to hurt us while being victimized. Do you think it's a good idea to put your or your loved ones lives in his hands?  What 'solution' does Ladd Everitt have should this choirboy decides he wants your jacket since his concern for human life is obviously a primary concern?

Brady Campaign Uses Suspected Terrorist as Spokesman

With the Brady Campaign's new campaign for anyone to talk to them (and blocking those who try to), they've gathered together a handy list of B-list celebrities and suspected terrorist to promote their anti-gun agenda.

Terrorists?  Really?  Yep, by their own definition.
Congress must pass the bill to close the Terror Gap to stop known or suspected terrorists from buying guns.
We've talked about those bills stripping people of their rights based on secret gov't watchlists.  At least one of their spokes-idiots, Mark Ruffalo*, is on said lists.

Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo has been placed on a terror watch list by U.S. officials after organizing screenings for a new documentary about natural gas drilling.
So again, the Brady Campaign is using suspected terrorists to promote their unconstitutional agenda not that this is a unique experience.

H/T to War on Guns.

*Ruffalo is an Anti because his brother offed himself playing Russian Roulette in Brady #1/A rated California so obviously we need more laws.

Possible New SCOTUS gun case?‏

From reader LE45:
SCOTUS has ordered Alameda County to reply to Nordyke's petiton for cert even though Alameda had waived its right to file a reply.  Known as a Call For Reply (CFR),such an order is extremely rare and is proof that at least one justice wants to hear the case and is an indication that said justice believes that 3 other justices will go along and grant cert. Such an order greatly increases the probability that SCOTUS will grant cert. This is Don Kilmer's and Don Kates' case that has been kicked around in the 9th Circuit since 1999 (well before Heller) and involves the banning of gun shows on county fairgrounds in Alameda County. So we may have another gun case in front of SCOTUS this term.

Gaming Old School

My first memory of those things known as 'Role Playing Games' was when I was really little and my sister had some friends over to play Dungeons & Dragons. To keep the pesty little brother away, they let me leaf through the Monster Manual, most cool for a little boy.

Later, a neighbor and I played Basic D&D, primarily the 'Keep on the Borderlands' module as well as a Secret Agent game I don't remember the name of.  In my teens and early/mid twenties, I got into gaming pretty heavily, playing GURPS, Palladium Fantasy 1st ed., ROBOTECH, RIFTS, along w/ Warhammer Fantasy w/ a huge Undead army (working at a game store got me sweet discounts) although I never really got into AD&D 2e or higher. High School, Navy, College all were filled w/ various groups and clubs.

Then life hit. Marriage, Kids, Work.  All conspired to drain that time needed to play. Friends graduated and moved away.  I pretty much lost touch w/ the gaming community and the hobby w/ the only remaining connection being a couple of comics like Dork Tower and Knights of the Dinner Table. About half the books and most of the minis were sold off although I did keep some of the main and favorite ones for nostalgia.

I'm glad I did. About a year ago I had an epiphany.  Money was tight, work and politics just had me on edge all the time.  Target shooting was fun but I didn't get to do it as often as I liked and even restocking ammo was getting to expensive. I was digging through my closet looking for Ebay ripe items and found this:
The old Basic D&D set from when I was a kid that my neighbor friend had given me along w. the Keep module. Right about the same time, my best friend from college was telling me about a movie about gamers and an online mini-series by the same people and SJ Games was running their Kickstarter to relaunch their classic board game OGRE.  I took it as a sign. I started rereading all the old game books, watched the movies/mini-series (Gamers, Gamers 2:Dorkness Rising, and Journey Quest) and took a major financial risk by investing in the OGRE Kickstarter.

IOW, I've become a born again Gamer on the cheap. Outside of munchies and gas money for bi-monthly game sessions, I haven't spent much. It's all the old books I already had and my friend is painting my remaining mini's mostly for copies of books and trade items. My sister paid my way for Worldcon '12 (thanks much sis'). The risk I took for the OGRE Kickstarter has already paid for itself and given me a few extra bucks to not only help w/ family finances but pick up some goodies like one of the dice from the upcoming Gamers 3 and a signed copy of the module ran in Gamers 2.
A trend I've noticed. I like the old games. The mechanics are (very) simple and the story lines are fun.  Who can resist a classic dungeon crawl? So I've also been scouring local used book stores, flea markets and thrift stores for the old modules.  I've found a few of them:

They're a blast to read and just giggle at the silliness of some of the designs and plots.  How many castle builders would waste thousands of square feet on a spiral leading nowhere? How does a huge colony of bats and monsters survive in a cave system w/ only one sealed and secret entrance?  It doesn't matter. It's fun as long as you don't have a group of munchkin rules lawyers to ruin it for you.

So my stress levels have decreased enormously allowing me to delve back into the political arena and also a renewed enjoyment for when I go out to the range. Finances are still tight but I can relax by picking up my dice w/ friends and family and wiping out some Orcs w/o spending a dime.
