Not So 'Organized For America'..At Least in Illinois

Those tens of millions of people crying out for more gun control across the nation...... Well, apparently most of them were busy washing their hair or had headaches the other day.  In Springfield, 'Organizing for America's' rally (and I use the word in the loosest possible terms) had a whopping attendance of ....

ten.

Yes ten.

Without a permit.

So (after a phone call), the cops made them leave until they went to city hall to get one.

Read the story over at GSL

These are the professional, paid activists of the anti-gun lobby.  From reading off the names of terrorists to not being able pass Stats 101 or Geography 101 to not even knowing they need a permit, these are the mistakes of amateurs.  And these ignorant amateurs think they have the knowledge and the right to determine what YOU should be allowed to own.

While I completely disagree with their ideas and beliefs, its pretty terrible to report them for not having a permit. This is America with freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble. We can't argue that permits and registration are bad ideas for the right to keep and bear arms, and then go and demand permits and registration for the right to peacefully assemble.

All of our rights should have the same standards. That's what we should demand.

When pro rights people assemble in down town Springfield we are always required to get a permit. Tom Schafer the gentleman
who pointed out that they did not have a permit has always had a permit when demonstrating and still had the Capitol and Illinois State Police harass him.
Tom plays by the rules and expects everyone else to do the same.

I do agree a permit should not be needed
but the city requires one.

I have no problem w/ the phone call. Not only would the anti's do the same if the situation were reversed, it would be national news... "Gun Lobby breaks laws.." and would be splashed over the pages of every anti-gun group for weeks as 'proof' we're all just a bunch of anti-government insurrectionists.

Friends:

I must agree with siccing the cops on them for the permit.

Please understand, I dont think you should be required to get one - but if 2nd Amendment folks are required to comply, the antis should not be allowed a free pass.

It kind of emphasizes the fact that ALL of us are subject to the law, and the dont get "special" treatment.

Just because we follow bad rules doesn't mean we should require them to. I'm said to see the double standard here. Its petty and wrong to run to mommy "BUT THEY DON'T HAVE A PERMIT!!". Let's fight them on their message, not require them to follow unconstitutional rules.
