No Shirt, No Shoes, No Lawyer.

The Public Defenders office in Dade County FL are contemplating changing the Miranda warning to :
You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, that's tough, because the public defender's office is short staffed right now.


Due to some budget cuts and reduced staffing, they've decided they're just not going to handle all the cases any more.

Not that it really matters as prosecutors don't bother prosecuting most cases anyway.

Hmmm...

It seems that the common sense solution would be to pass more laws to ensnare more people so that the public defender's office is stretched even thinner.
