Via Weer'd comes this video of some 'Gentlemen' saying what they really think about firearms, firearm owners and the NRA.

Even outside of the lack of knowledge of firearms or the shooting culture, just listen to the sneering, smarmy, holier-than-thou attitude they exude as they tell you how stupid and uncultured you are for daring to enjoy or own something they disagree with.

This is the kind of video we need to spread far and wide to firearm owners to remind them what is really on the minds of gun control advocates when they talk about 'safety and common-sense'.

Blooddancing 101

Think 'gun control' isn't above using a tragedy to promote their political agenda?

 MAIG/OCSGV related email chain after the Ohio Chardon school shooting:

“I hope that we can do some rapid response,” Orchid wrote. “Perhaps this is the perfect time to push out the new micro­site petition around guns on campus.”

And the 'tribute' site set up by lefty group 'ProgressOhio'?  

 “New email acquisitions will be shared with Mayors Against Illegal Guns and a small subset of these names will be shared with OCSGV [Ohio Coalition Against Gun Violence].”

 Isn't that special?

They 'need' tragedies like school and movie shootings to even try and push their agenda even though most of these kinds of events occur in places where all their 'common-sense' laws are in place (ie 'Gun Free' Zones). Remember that next time you hear one of them try and blame the NRA or gun owners.

Surviving an Assault: Illinois vs Texas

In Illinois, the ISP advised women who were being attacked to make themselves vomit because "Fighting would probably be futile".

In Texas, the City of Houston put up an informational video on how improvise weapons in order to attack an assailant. 

Which state do you think really cares about protecting citizens and reducing crime?

"Gun Death": Chinese Massacre

Stealing Weer'd's meme. I for one have regularly heard the talking point from anti's "If he hadn't had a gun, he couldn't have killed that many people."

 A teenager has been arrested after killing nine people and wounding four others in a knife attack in northeast China, state media reported Thursday.

 So yes, even outside of using fire or explosives, mass murder is entirely possible without firearms.

John Rosenthal, head of.... well no group anymore, imparts this bit of wisdom.

"But outside of Massachusetts and other progressive pockets, 33 states, including Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont make guns readily available from private dealers without ID or background checks. Not only do these states have remarkably higher firearm fatality rates, but they undermine stricter, more responsible laws in bordering states"

Massachusetts 2010 homicide rate: 3.2 per 100,000
Maine 2010 Homicide rate:1.8 per 100,000
New Hampshire 2010 homicide rate: 1.0 per 100,000
Vermont 2010 homicide rate: 1.1 per 100,000

So again proving that even if John says is true, it just shows that anti-gun advocates don't really care about reducing deaths, just guns. 

IL Gov Quinn's New Gun Ban

Gov Quinn rewrote a pro-gun bill on mail order ammo to add an AWB.

From the ISRA:

 1. Ban the manufacture, possession or sale of nearly every semiautomatic rifle, pistol and shotgun you own.

2. Specifically ban Glock pistols since they share a common design with the Glock 18, a select fire handgun.

3. Require you to register every semiautomatic firearm and every magazine you own that exceeds 10 round capacity. The kicker is that, under Quinn's proposal, the State Police can charge you unlimited fees to register your guns. Thus if Quinn's bill passes, you could very well find yourself paying $100 or even $1,000 per firearm per year to comply with the law. Additionally, you could find yourself paying $50, $100 or even $500 per year for each "high capacity" magazine you own. Can't pay? Well then you would have to surrender your guns to the State Police for destruction.

F*ck no.   The only purposes of this is to make a polical statement and to try and restrict whatever he can. Along w/ the boilerplate AWB, likely provided by the gun control groups, is preceded by this piece of laughable material:

I am a strong supporter of the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution– the right to bear arms.

 Which is why he's spent his entire career working w/ anti-gun advocates to ban everything from handguns to ammunition. And the usual double speak:

There is no place in the State of Illinois for weapons designed to rapidly fire at human targets at close range.

 Except for:

The ban would not pertain to law enforcement officials or members of the military.

So according to Quinn, it's perfectly acceptable for police or military to fire rapidly at human targets at close range.

Another POS politician who needs to be run out of office.

Within 48 hours of the terrible tragedy in Aurora, Colorado, (before the facts were known besides a gun was used), a new campaign fundraiser was launched called We Are Better Than This. It was based on the fundamental belief that we are better than a nation with mass shootings like the one in Aurora, Colorado, and better than the 32 gun murders that happen every day.  desperately short of money and need to take advantage of opportunities like this to keep what little staff/influence we have left.

Shootey Weekend.

I've done more shooting in the past week than I've done all summer. Taking my niece out a few days ago, friends over yesterday and today, and my mom will becoming down in a few day and getting her 'annual training'. I need a lot of refresher but I'm not entirely rusted up.

Sat. had some friends over to shoot. The camera crapped out right when we were getting started so I just did a group shot when we got back and I could replace the batteries. The lady in the middle was a new shooter. She didn't enjoy it as much as Joe's outing w/ his  DIL but she didn't hate it.

Today another friend came over for some shooting and gaming. The wife decided to come out for some range time as well.

Neither of us were able to hit crap w/ it. Then I took a close look at the forward sight.

OGRE Mini's: Russian Armored Battalion

It's nice to have friends w/ skills. One of my best friends is painting up my OGRE mini's and just completed an Armor/Infantry battalion in a Russian Interior Ministry Arctic Woodland pattern.

I'm thinking about adding a few mobile howitzers to it but he started crying when I mentioned it. He's got quite a bit on his plate already including some Babylon 5, Malifaux, Warhammer and my and his OGRE stuff. . I'll be nice and wait awhile. He does take commissions though if anyone of my readers in interested in having minis painted.

I apologize for not jumping on the Batman Shooting bandwagon but from what I’ve seen, it’s been sufficiently covered. What I haven’t seen is the behind the scenes look into the reaction and underlying strategy of the antis.

That’s where I come in.

I’ve been volunteering for the Brady Chapter here in Oregon to do a little recon on my favorite prey. Last Friday, the day of the Aurora Shooting, we all got called in for an early start and were told we’d be working straight through the weekend.

Wow, epic fail…and not the sort I normally enjoy writing about.

I failed.

After we all chugged 17 bottles of champagne at 4am, they stuck me in a small room for what they called “face book patrol.” I got the crap job of deleting every comment which made them look like the fools that they are because I’m the new guy. I could hear the celebration continue on the other side of the door. After 5 hours straight of hitting the delete button, someone pounded on the door and reminded me to click all the “like” buttons several times.

After sheer boredom set in, I decided to comfort myself by calling an old friend…

Ring…Ring…Ring

Helmke: Hello?
Kaveman: Howdy Paul, how you holding up?
Helmke: (heavy sigh)- I…I dunno.
Kaveman: Depressed about the news, huh?

Helmke: Let me break this down for you like a good recipe for bad ju-ju.

1. Premier showing of a movie about the one and only Super Hero with no super powers. Just a regular guy with lots of disposable income and lots of weaponry…just like you
2. Mass shooting of innocents; the type Batman defends with the most vigor.
3. All subsequent showings of the movie are now filled with people watching a Knight fighting scum bags while having the tickle in the backs of their minds about becoming more like Batman and taking responsibility for their own safety, because deep down, they know that Batman is fiction, but lunatics are very, very real.
4. Gun control advocates and MSM alike throw everything against the wall to see what sticks and can’t help spouting the most outrageous lies which are so transparent that even non gun owners start to question our honesty and integrity.
5. We fracture and fail to present a united front. Brady plays it safe by pleading for background checks on private sales in a piss poor fashion. CSGV pleads for banning mags which hold more than 10 rounds. The VPC goes all bat-shit crazy and screams for banning an entire class of firearms which will never get through congress. SUPGV tries to suck any teat promoted and is relegated to oblivion.
We have no cohesion and therefore no impact.

6. The true antis will force Obama into a corner in an election year and make him look either idiotic or oblivious, neither is good for us.
7. And to top it all off, the Summer Olympic Games are already stealing the spot light.
8. Just as we failed to capitalize on a Senator getting shot in the face, and everything before that, what we are doing now clearly isn’t working.

Kaveman: So what’s you strategy going forward?

Helmke: With my head hung low, I hope the antis have a new generation of small dick jokes.

Kaveman: So you’re pretty much done, huh?

Helmke: We’ve been done awhile now…but…GOD, I hope we have some new dick jokes.
