We're All Potential Murderers

That's the way anti-gun advocates view firearm owners.

"We haven't seen mayhem in the street — that doesn't mean the potential isn't there."
-Tom Mannard, executive director of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence

Actually Mr. Mannard, we are seeing "mayhem in the street", but it's not coming from legal firearm owners. It's occurring in Chicago and the areas surrounding it that are experiencing spillover from the gang wars and incompetent administration.

This is the fact that people like Mannard can't accept. They NEED to project their own fears onto those who, by Mannards own admission, aren't the ones causing the problems. they NEED to believe that firearm owners are psychotic killers just to maintain their flawed ideology. To them, any firearm owner is just a murderer waiting for the opportunity.

One shouldn't be surprised that the ICHV is another Joyce Foundation funded group.

It's the same problem we're having here in Philly. Nutter just can't seem to grasp the concept that there is a select demographic minority (insert jadetroll response "you are just all recists) responsible for a significant proportion of the city's crime.

Unfortunately you're just not going to see any of them reach this epiphany any time soon. It is just too cost effective to demonize guns rather than tackle the social problems responsible for the majority of violent crime.

If I'm a murderer just waiting for an oppurtunity, then I'm even more lazy than I thought.

Apparently, Tom Mannard believes that his self-serving imaginings should trump actual experience. That is a laughably lame, fall back position for him to take when the facts that we know from real life experience in 48 states contradict his point.
Tom Mannard wants to continue to have laws that send people to prison for carrying a gun with which to defend themselves, because of things that he imagines might happen, even though he's contradicted by reality? If that doesn't define insanity then I don't know what might. What's he going to tell us next? That we have to keep sending innocent people to prison for protecting themselves because the price of tea in China is too high?

Careful, TexasFred. All that penis talk is will get you nothing except an "I told you so" from Bryan Miller and a diagnosis from "Dr." Josefina. :)

I agree Molon Labe, let's switch the argument to "All women are potential prostitutes, since they have all the equipment."

"Current state law requires licensed gun dealers to run criminal background checks on customers before the sale, but a private citizen who sells to an acquaintance isn't under the same obligation. A key measure filed by Osterman, the House Democrat from Chicago, would put the background-check requirement on those private sales."

Private sales in Illinois already have a background check! Its called a FOID card! Private sales are subject to waiting periods too!

P.S. I got to meet Don Gwinn tonight.:) See you at IGOLD.
