FBI Bought and Paid For?

Another comment I read recently on Huffpo regarding FBI UCR numbers:
The reports indicate statistics, especially during the Republican administration, were skewed so that crime stats appeared lower than reality and accurate reporting would show. Corrections and updates are being worked on. Stay tuned.

That the NRA influenced political reports during the last nine years to help skew gun stats, misinterpret, is likely. Money and political clout count for a lot in our nation today. How much does it cost to lie?
Now, it being Huffpo, I would normally just put this down as the deluded ravings of another ignorant PuSHer. The reason it caught my attention, though, was that our occasional troll made the exact same claim a few months ago. He stated he couldn't remember where he read it. The recent poster has so far refused to provide the source. This leads me to believe it's from some gun control group press release or 'report'.

Has anyone else heard this or point to where it came from? Assuming it's true, that is, and it's not just two deranged minds coming up w/ a similar fantasy.

I remember hearing a report on this once. Every country cooks it's crime stats to try to make themselves look safe.

No doubt. There's pretty strong circumstantial evidence Chicago's cooking its books after their disastrous 2008 murder increase.

I would just love to see the actual claim in print that the GOP did it more than normal because the NRA told them to and the FBI went along w/ it willingly.

yep, i've heard it once or twice when debating w/ an anti. That was the end of the debate, 'cause there's no point in trying with someone that far away from reality

Huh. I've never heard that one before. How deep do you think the conspiracy goes? Could the Gnomes of Zurich be involved?

Don:
