Missing the Point

I hate ACU's. In their attempt to find a camo pattern good for all environments, the Army designed one good for none. Look how clearly it stands out in a woodland environment:

And no, it's not just the lighting.

Silly me. I thought the idea behind camouflage was NOT to be seen.

Sorry to get off-topic, but what the hell is that "weapon"--some kind of Super Soaker?

Well...

If he were standing in a parking lot with 10,000 pigeons flying above it, he would blend in quite well.

wasn't there a study done just after they went to woodland camo..that OD was probably the best all-around color?

It's the prototype 'future' weapon. Can fire a grenade that's been programed by laser distancing along w/ 5.56.

So THAT'S why I get my ass blown away when playing Rainbow Six Vegas while wearing that camo pattern!

I've heard that the USMC's digital desert and woodland patterns are much more effective (particularly the desert) and from what I've seen I'd agree with that. The Army got it all wrong with this one. The Air Force's new uniform is even worse...

I can personally attest that the USMC desert pattern is fsking awesome. You can put 20 guys up against/in a sand dune, and you would not be able to know except for their heads.

However that picture? That is just ludicrous. At least you know you will never lose your laser gun if you drop it...

Here's another neat fact: because of the ammount of blue in the ACU color scheme, they glow under moonlight. So, hypothetically, if you're wandering around the countryside of a third world craphole in the himalayas on a night wtih a full moon, you can see these damn uniforms glistening for hundreds of yards.

However, and I have seen this firsthand, If they are standing in front of a cinderblock wall that hasn't been painted they blend in perfectly.
I was on CBC Gulfport and drove by one of the army construction classes that were building small cinderblock buildings. At first all I could see were heads and the upper torso of one guy not wearing a blouse.

Agree with the above. The Army will most likely be concentrating on MOUT in the next couple of years. Which is a good reason for the rest of us to get multicam and head for the woods.
