College Survival Guide

I was originally going to make a joke about Armor Plated Laptops and Bullet Proof Backpacks but I decided to give some credit where it is due.

Apparently some colleges have decided that locking your doors and doing the SniVeL aren't the best ways for students to survive a shooting. While still not allowing firearms, they're teaching students to fight back using "improvised weapons" against attackers.

It's a step. A small step but still a step. This is how CCW got started.

I like the last line...

"It's a really basic thing," Bowdish said. "We have drills for fires and tornadoes. This is just another tool for the toolbox."

I agree that this is a good thing if for no other reason than to get students and faculty thinking about scenarios and appropriate responses.

How long will it be before "Improvised Weapons Free Zones" enters the lexicon?

We should all chip in and send some clean underwear to the Brady Bunch HQ.
