Range Time

Finally got time/weather for some serious range time.  This wasn't a detailed, zeroing in, aspirin shooting day. This was a have fun and eviscerate pieces of paper/cans/etc. day for me and fellow insurrectionists.

Mosin-Nagant Sniper, Baretta 92S, Soviet SKS, S&W M&P 9mm, Ruger Mini-14.  Camo is ATACS and Tigerstripe.

After some target shooting w/ the mini-14, we had to go all A-Team w/ it.  These are just for Ladd:

 Followed by some shotgun 'tacticals'

We then charred some dead animal flesh:
and then brought out 4thpowers Alpha & Beta for training as child soldiers on a 10/22 and the Mini-14.

Good day.

Illinois Tax Dollars for Lobbying

A few weeks ago I asked some questions on who funded Newtown parents to come to Illinois to lobby for anti-gun bills.  Turns out that at least in part it was the Illinois Taxpayers.
With two weeks to go until the end of the spring session, Governor Quinn, the Newtown parents and leading lawmakers are working to pass this legislation. The Newtown parents will travel to Springfield on Sunday evening where they will stay in the governor’s mansion. They will also meet with legislators at the Capitol on Monday to discuss their experiences and the necessity of this public safety measure in Illinois.
So with Illinois' credit rating reduced to lowest in the nation due to near insolvency of the state, how much did this cost Illinois taxpayers to fund Quinn's personal political agenda?  Directly through what was spent hosting them and the loss of business to local hotels.

IL 'Special Session' June 19th

IL Gov. Quinn has called a special session of the legislature to fix the state's debt crisis after two downgrades by financial institutions.

Anyone want to lay odds on instead it being used to try and strip the CCW bill into a 'may issue' NY/NJ/MD style law?

Madison County, IL Constitutional Carry

Prosecutor for Madison Cnty, IL states he won't prosecute people carrying concealed as long as they're following the law, have a FOID, and keep it concealed.
People must meet these conditions:
1. Must be issued and possess a valid F.O.I.D. card or, if not an Illinois resident, a valid concealed carry permit from a state that performs a background check prior to issuance of the permit; and
2. Must be carrying the firearm for self-defense; and
3. Must not be prohibited from possession of a firearm under another statute or court order; and
4. Must keep the firearm concealed on their person or in their vehicle, and not visible to the public; and
5. Must not be engaged in any criminal conduct; and
6. Must be in compliance with all other federal, state and local laws and ordinances; and
7. Must, when asked, inform law enforcement officers of the firearm when in contact with an officer in the course of their duties. It is essential that individuals cooperate with any police officer and inform them of the presence of the firearm prior to removing it from its concealed location. Displaying the firearm at a public location or without the request or knowledge of an officer could constitute a violation of the law.
If only we could get that for the state.I know what several people will be doing tomorrow.  :)

Just Read the Thread

First read Miguel's expos'e on the Astroturf group Mom's Demand Lovin'.

Then read the comment thread that ensued after I posted it on Elliot Fineman's NG(V)AC page.

PuSH'ers will do/say anything to change the subject and act as apologists for their pet cause.

Of course this is probably more action than Elliot's seen in a long time.

More Anti-gun 'Grassroots'

About a dozen anti-gunners (including the kids they drug along w/) hold a 'Press Conference' to protest the IL CCW bill, calling on the Gov. to veto it.

Yeah. Veto it.  Turn the state into a free-for-all law wise.

This is from a combination effort of ICHV and 'Mom's Demand Lovin'.   Again, our range days and blogger meets have more people.

Said It Since Day One

Some test community officials maintain that fielding UCP was a mistake that could have been avoided. Two separate studies performed by Army scientists from Natick Soldier Systems Center, Mass. -- one completed in 2009 and the other in 2006 -- showed that the UCP performed poorly in multiple environments when compared to other modern camouflage patterns.
In both studies, MultiCam, a pattern popular with Special Operations Forces, outperformed UCP, the pattern the Army adopted in 2004 to replace the service's woodland and desert camouflage uniforms.
Some General and/or Politicians decided they wanted a cool digital pattern but didn't want to copy the Marines. So they chose a universal(ly bad) pattern that stood out everywhere.

Gun Owners on Magazine Bans

IL State Senator Kotowski, an Joyce Foundation anti-gun award recipient, claims that he received countless calls from gun owners wanting magazine bans and that only the 'gun industry' and 'lobbyists' opposed the idea.

Well pretty much any advocate knows that's a bunch of crap but anecdotes don't equal data so I did a poll.  After a few HTML glitches, there were approx 500 votes total.

The results?  95%+ of firearm owners polled opposed restricting magazines to 10 rnds or less.

Some interesting factoids.

An attempt by an anti-gunner to influence the poll resulted in less than a dozen votes.

W/ 500 respondents, it makes my poll twice as viable as the 20 yr old '40% private sales' poll by anti gun researchers Cook/Ludwig w/ only 251 respondents.
