Daley is Semi-Fully an idiot.

Daley, with his entourage of security surrounding him in Englewood, voiced these words of wisdom on the decision to arm the CPD w/ M-4's:

"When they (the police)come to a scene, someone has a semi fully-automatic weapon and you have a little pistol, uh, good luck."

"We're finding out that the weapons of criminals are getting bigger and bigger, AK47s, all types of different weapons, because they can carry assault weapons, it's not a violation of federal law, and that is a concern for all of us," he said.

The problem?

No-one knows who's going to pay for it, how the officers are going to be trained w/ them, or what the use/storage procedures will be:

First, the weapons must be purchased -- and it's not yet clear who is going to pay. Officers currently chose from a list of authorized handguns and pay out of their own pockets. Second, they must be trained in how to use them. That would be a logistical nightmare that would require all officers to return to the police academy.

Finally, the Police Department must determine whether the new weapons would remain in squad cars or be carried by officers.

I know! Raise taxes some more.

The other problem?

"Assault Weapons" are illegal in Cook County so they aren't "allowed"to carry "AK-47's", semi, fully, or "semi-fully". Not that Daley cares a whit about facts or the law when it comes to his personal agendas.

Media generated hysteria II

Hoard food because the sky is falling.

Not "buy in bulk to save money" but instead :

it's time for Americans to start stockpiling food

food riots in parts of the developing world

it will do the same here

I don't know how the food companies can absorb higher costs

rosy memory of a bygone age

So is this "authorized journalist" trying to drive up the value of his stocks? Get attention grabbing headlines to add to his resume? Or is he naive enough to think the US is close enough to an economic and social collapse before the Captain Crunch goes stale?

This kind of yellow journalism is more dangerous to a stable society and the "general welfare" ( a phrase the anti's are using more often as of late) than general ownership of firearms. I think it's time to start licensing journalists with regular tests on ethics and accuracy.

Joyce Foundation opposes Grassroots activism..

No surprise there being that the majority of their funded groups have little or no membership. Case in point, the ICHV, who have received over 1.8 million in Joyce grants recently lamented on their website that numerous politicians opposed several anti-gun bills due to numerous calls from constituents. This resulted in the bills failing.

Since it is apparently beyond their comprehension that local organizations and groups could arrange such an outpouring of responses (mostly since they and other anti's can't do it), they have to fall back on the traditional accusations of blaming the NRA and claiming that the calls aren't from their constituencies. Of course their claims are based on soley polls conducted by other anti-gun groups and what they want to be reality. No bias there.

Sorry ICHV but I received no instructions from the NRA besides an e-mail alert that came while the debates and voting were already in process. I did, however, get the information from several local groups who kept up on the issue before and during. Just because you can't garner enough public support to push your privately funded agenda besides some misleading "polls" doesn't mean that the thousands of firearm owners who are actually active in keeping their rights will sit back and let you spout off your nonsense.

One more reason to oppose Obama..

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) supports him. (Not that I support Hillary either)

I've known and admired Barack Obama for years. And since he became my fellow Senator from Illinois, I've had the opportunity to work with him very closely.

Getting to know Barack has only strengthened my opinion of his leadership and his unique ability to bring this country together. If you haven't already, I hope you'll join me in supporting his candidacy and building the movement for change he has inspired across this country.

It should be noted that Durbin was one of the 16 who voted for allowing continued firearm confiscations in case of crisis along w/ Clinton as well as supporting 3rd party lawsuits and UN mandated firearm restrictions.

Obama lies about Tiahrt..

From the Chicago Sun-Times:

The ATF [federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms] should be able to share info with local communities about where guns are coming from, tracing guns that are used in criminal activity. It's been blocked consistently in Congress.

They can and they do. He's either ignorant of the law (a good trait for a presidential candidate, right?) or blatantly lying. With his regular changes of position on firearms, I'll go for the latter.

This is of course combined w/ his usual back and forth while trying to cover up his long anti-gun history by blowing smoke up people's *sses.

Justice?

50 rounds fired by NYPD police killing Sean Bell, the night before his wedding, during an alleged altercation. The judge in the case has decided that this was a justifiable response from "highly trained professionals".

"Oliver squeezed off 31 shots; Isnora fired 11 rounds; and Cooper shot four times."

Even if Bell was fighting w/ them, 50 ROUNDS!? Reloading multiple times!? That's called trigger-happy, not law enforcement. This is exactly how the LA riots started. I hope the residents on NYC don't emulate that.

Hillary says encouraging voting is bad..

at least when the voters don't support her.

The city of Gary, IN is under attack by the Clinton campaign for following its tradition (the last 3 years or so) of busing eligible students to local polling places on election day. Never mind that this encourages youth to be socially responsible and teaches involvement in the election process, Hillary's people , including the Mayor of Hammond, IN, are afraid the demographics will favor Obama, so they oppose it.

"To me it seems like an orchestrated effort on behalf of the Obama campaign to take kids who should be in school learning to read and write, instead giving them a day off and telling them to vote for Obama."

This is how your elected officials view the voting public.

Register Laundry Soap

Detergent related deaths are rising in Japan. Only specially trained and licensed individuals should be allowed to handle these obviously dangerous materials and should fall under strict OSHA guidelines for for HAZMAT storage and other Federal and State Agencies. These reasonable measures could result in a drop in violent Laundry Detergent deaths nationwide.

Daley calls for more "out of the box" gun bans.

Really Dick, your diatribes and tantrums are getting old. Stop blaming the rest of the state for your failings as a mayor. If the people you invite to discuss things don't think more gun bans will work, will you listen to them or are you only inviting people you know support your agenda?

3-4 million vs. Zero

Josh is desperate for soundbytes.

Sorry Josh. But when you're trying to disparage a group because of a difference in membership number claims when your organization has received Zero, yes, Zero contributions from "members", you're sounding really pathetic. For some reason it reminds me of the holocaust deniers that claim it wasn't as bad as they say because the numbers (still in the millions) have been reduced down from early estimates.

Truly sad.

Sugarmann needs to talk to the Brady Bunch

When it comes to talking about using tragedies to make some cash. He states:

"What this shows is that to the gun industry, gun violence is at best an abstract concept and at worst a business opportunity," said Josh Sugarmann, the Executive Director of the Violence Policy Center.

Kind of like the E-mail the Brady's sent out w/ multiple links to donate while chanting "32, VT, 32, VT". Kind of like the same e-mail they sent out the DAY OF VT asking for $32 to combat the NRA?

It's funny that Petey Hamm claims that Thompson is "arming criminals" when the said criminals followed ALL the Brady Endorsed laws. All of them except for the "Gun Free Zones" that is. The ones that enabled the shooters to commit their crimes w/o any chance of the students to defend themselves.

That said, Thompson needs to STFU. While giving talks is fine, in his situation he needs to NOT pull any publicity stunts like this as all he's doing is giving proverbial ammo to the gun banners.

A different kind of Ceasefire..

and anti-violence activists:

Tio Hardiman, director of mediation services for CeaseFire, said the group, which is operating on a skeleton staff after it lost more than $6 million in state funding, will attempt to train residents to peacefully resolve potentially violent conflicts, and will ask adult men in high-risk neighborhoods to agree to mentor one child on their block.

"You can change the gun laws all day long, but if you don't chance the mind-set of these young people, it's not going to matter," Hardiman said. "They've already got all the guns they need."

"We believe we shouldn't have to have SWAT come into our neighborhoods when we have able-bodied people who can stand up to this violence," said Rev. Robin Hood of Clergy Committed to Community.

What? Personal accountability and responsibility in Chicago? Obviously they haven't received the memos from Daley and his puppets that any crime in the city is the direct fault of Rural White Males who are shipping in hundreds of assault rifles in the backs of pickup trucks to be handed out in schoolyards.

This on the same day that a piece by Steve Chapman is printed ridiculing Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis's responses to the weekend's violence, is a clear indicator that the mind control chips implanted in all firearms are finally having the desired effects.

Parental Licensing..

The unlicensed parent loophole allows for anyone, no matter their mental health history or criminal background to have children. To adopt or even foster a child, one has to go through counseling, obtain government permission, and go through background checks in states with strong parental control laws. Just listen to what one unlicensed parent had to say about drowning her baby:

she admitted she didn't want to have a baby because it was disrupting her "night life,''

If it saves just one child from Filicide, the only sensible and reasonable measure to take would be to establish a National Parent Licensing and Registration database with regular qualification and home safety inspections for all parents. Criminals and mentally unstable individuals must be prevented from having or caring for children for the good of society.

These common-sense measures would in no way infringe on an individuals right to keep and bear children.

Ten point spread...

No. Not Hillary's ass. Her lead in the PA primary over Obama. Uncle states it means six more weeks of pandering. I actually think HuffPo said it best. The winner in PA was McCain. Hillary is stubborn and will ride this to the last state as long as she has a glimmer of hope to snag the "superdelegates" from Obama. The depleted DNC coffers and factionalism can only increase McCain's chances. As was noted (I forget where), DU is in an uproar and even the Hilary v Obama posts on Huffpo are getting more and more vicious.

Go Hillary!!

Dear Abby misses the mark...

Staying home and playing videogames is a better bonding experience than "killing for sport".

One alleged "educator" needs to change her undies as they have been filled to the brim w/ PSH:

DEAR ABBY: I was a preschool teacher for several years, and the children who were the biggest bullies and least socialized were always -- and I mean ALWAYS -- the ones graphically exposed to the killing of animals. These children were aged from 3 to 5, the same age as the grandson in South Carolina.

The gentle, studious, most popular children never spoke of hunting, but the bullies would talk at length about killing, guns and blood. It affected their emotional stability and ideas about death.

20 million hunters in the US. A few hundred hunting accidents/ year. Do the math. It is necessary to maintain healthy levels of species in todays world (including varmint control) and adds tens of millions of dollars into the economy through equipment purchases and licensing fees.
The boy is not out there lugging a firearm and doing the shooting. He's spending time w/ his father in a healthy outdoor environment and getting more exercise than the average kid today.

Apparently having a close relationship w/ your father in non-"progressive" hobbies is worse than having no relationship at all.

Because repeating Virginia Tech and 32 is all the Brady's have left.

Dear Thirdpower,

Together, we did it!

Thanks to your support and your efforts, last week thousands of individuals, Million Mom March Chapters, community allies, and friends and family of the Virginia Tech victims marked the first anniversary of the Virginia Tech shootings and called on legislators to do something about gun violence.

Click Here to Support Your Brady Campaign Today

Your Brady Campaign and ProtestEasyGuns.com supported the efforts of more than 100 local events to create a day of action and remembrance that would send a message to lawmakers: we need to make it harder for dangerous people to get dangerous weapons by strengthening gun laws, including closing the gun show loophole.

Our reach was both wide and deep. Coast to coast, events took place in more than 30 states (red and blue ones!), more than one hundred cities, and on 50 college campuses. They included bell ringing, candle vigils, speeches from victims and elected officials, calls to action and lie-ins: groups of at least 32 individuals lying down in tribute to the 32 victims killed one year ago on the Virginia Tech campus, and the 32 victims murdered by guns every day.

The events got a tremendous amount of attention and media coverage. Your Brady Campaign and our allies in the field — in cities and neighborhoods around the country — are making our voices heard: Now is the time to keep the momentum going to pass sensible gun laws.

Keep the Momentum Going: Donate Now

The show of support in communities across the country on the anniversary of that not-to-be-forgotten day is another example that America is turning the corner on the gun issue. Thank you for your support. We did it! And we will continue to do more!

Sincerely,

In one single E-mail, they were able to jam in three separate links to beg for money while chanting 32 32 32 32 over an over. Paul's last three posts on Huffpo have all been rehashes of the VT tragedy using family members in emotional distress to shill for laws that had nothing to do w/ the event or that have been shown to reduce crime.

Interesting to note that it takes a national event and numerous national anti-gun groups to equal an single pro-gun state level event .

Federal Assault Weapon Ban Reinstated..

ArmedandSafe can come up with no other explanation as to why Police Officer Deaths are down 50% when we were told the high numbers were due to the lapse of the ban.

IL Gov can't see obvious patterns.

Take a look at the map here or the numbers here.

Can you see a pattern? Perhaps it correlates to this:

One law enforcement source said a new faction of Gangster Disciples that moved into the area's Englewood neighborhood is vying for control against longer-established members of the gang. In addition to the shootings, home invasions also have escalated, the source said.

On Monday, sources said the Englewood gang dispute was simmering for several months and the warm weather likely sparked the violence.

About 10 of the shootings occurred in Gangster Disciples-controlled areas of the Englewood police district and on the east side of the adjacent Chicago Lawn police district, also in the Wentworth Area.

Many of those victims were affiliated with gangs, police said.

But Rod can't see that. Or at least he choses not to. Instead he replies:

this weekend's violence in Chicago is yet another reason for state lawmakers to enact new gun controls.

So is he ignorant or disingenuous?

Righteous Stabbing

Two teens stabbed, one fatally, on S. Side

Two male teenagers were stabbed, one fatally, possibly during an attempted mugging late Monday, police said. A 53-year-old man is in police custody, but will probably be released.

The stabbings occurred about 11:55 p.m. at 7354 S. Stony Island Ave., according to police News Affairs reports.

The 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were drinking on the street when they grabbed a 53-year-old man. The man attempted to walk away but was pulled back by the teens, at which time the man began stabbing them, according to a report from the police First Deputy Superintendent’s office.

So two teens out drinking on the streets at midnight attack a guy and get stabbed. I bet they were both "good boys". And yet Daley and Blago think that it's guns that are causing the problems.

The Modern Militia: Vehicles

After a long delay, I present vehicles of the Modern Militia.

The Militia doesn't have to be traditional infantry or even ground units at all. With the universal availability of many types of vehicles, various types of mechanized units become a reality. From scouting and logistical vehicles (the most likely) to even surplus LAV's, air, and watercraft, all are available to the Modern Militiaman. As per this series's SOP, the focus is going to mostly be on what the military uses and their civilian counterparts.

Scout vehicles:

Small, fast vehicles of numerous types are widely available and relatively inexpensive. For rural and urban use, these can be put to good use for Scouting, individual movement, messenger services, and light logistics.

Bikes:

From dirt bikes for rough terrain to Mopeds and Scooters for Urban use, two wheeled vehicles have a well established history of military use. Current military issue for the US Marine Corps is the KLR 250-D8. Basically a souped-up KLR 250 by Kawasaki.

ATV's:

Three, Four, and Six wheeled ATV's are slower than bikes but are more stable and can carry more gear. The MV800 from Polaris and the M-GATOR from John Deere are current military issue. Civilian models of these two plus surplus military are available.

"Green" Transportation:

Environmentally friendly, one can't forget about the most traditional form of transportation available to the Militia.

Yes. Horses. Low maintenance. Run on Bio-fuels. Re-cycleable. Can be used as an emergency food source or shelter. While obsolete for front line use for decades, equines should not be overlooked as a source of mobility in open country where logistics for mechanical vehicles may be an issue. The Afghani Mujahideen relied heavily on horses, mules, and donkeys for transportation in the rough, mountainous terrain as well as in the lowlands.

Light Multi-Role:

Intermediate sized vehicles useful for just about any light duty task available.

The ubiquitous HUMVEE in various forms and designations is the standard Multi-purpose vehicle for the DOD at this time but a replacement is currently being sought for. Useful in most terrains and fairly rugged, surplus units are available as well as civilian models. The older H1's are closest in to the military versions.

Classic Willy's would also fit into this classification although no longer in active service.
Logistics:

Amateurs think about tactics, but professionals think about logistics.
-- General Robert H. Barrow, USMC

Vehicles useful for logistics are available in countless forms from light trucks, deuce and a half's, tractor-trailers, and various specialized vehicles and trailers.

Light Trucks:

1 1/4 4x4 Diesel pickup trucks are an excellent and easily available vehicle for transportation and supply. These can be modified for personnel, medical, supply, light tanker, technicals, etc. Military surplus is available as well as from effectively every car manufacturer in the US.

Medium Trucks:

The long serving M35 series Deuce and a Half is one of the most familiar military transportation vehicles in US history. First fielded during WWII, they are still serving today in the same capacity w/ no retirement plans that I am aware of. Surplus versions are common and usually under $10,000 with few purchase restrictions.

Heavy trucks:

Tractor trailers supplied and run by owner/operators would be a godsend to logistic planners in a crisis situation. Able to haul large amounts of goods over distances, these and HEMTT's are widely used by the US military.

Trailers:

Water Buffaloe's like the M-149, flat beds, and Cargo containers are an important part of logistics. They are inexpensive, increase your carrying capacity, and allow for quick supply drops which prevent the vehicles from being tied up.

LAV's:

Keeping with a military aspect of the militia, LAV's (Light Armored Vehicles) can be useful in urban environments or against light infantry. General purpose vehicles such as pickups or jeeps have had armor added to them and are commonly known as "Technicals". Since these are individually customized, I won't go into to many details beyond the link. Some types of LAV's available for purchase* are V-100's , Fox armoured car, the Ferret scout car, or a Saladin. Prices for these that I've seen range from $40 to $100K.

Heavy Armored Vehicles:

Just for fun because I like tanks. IMO, effectively useless for militia purposes even though one would be really cool to own. To legally own one for all intents and purposes, they need to be de-mil'led hence no offensive or defensive capabilities unless you rig up some smoke generators or some such*. In reality, you'ld be in a big rolling pill box. I'm sure there's some exceptions to this but I'm not going to cover them. Feel free to post specifics in comments.

A possibility for effective Militia use might be a tracked APC like the M113 series. Being tracked I've included them in the Heavy category but they would also fit into the LAV section.

Construction Battalions:

Since many aspects of a crisis will not be of a military nature nor is everyone in the physical condition to assist in that, non-combatants will be and are an integral part of the military and the Militia. An example would be the regular flooding in the Mississippi Valley and elsewhere. Logistical and construction equipment were dearly needed. Backhoes, front-loaders, tractors, etc can be even more valuable in a crisis to build dikes, dig trenches, what have you than a dozen soldiers w/ shovels.

Other Branches of the Militia:

Not all members of the Modern Militia need to be ground pounders. For informational purposes , fun, and some variety, I'm going to invent the Militia Air Service ** and re-invent the Naval Militia.

Militia Air Service (MAS):

Some people out there have pilot's licenses and aircraft of their own. They to are members of the Militia and can be useful beyond just an infantry grunt. A helicopter pilot w/ a surplus Huey or other civilian model can be indispensable for rescue, supply, medevac, or scouting when primary units aren't available or are tied up elsewhere. Fixed wing aircraft can also serve these purposes and can usually travel farther, faster.

Naval Militia:

During Katrina, the US Coast Guard again showed their worth as a multi-role force. Also used were citizens and police with small boats, rescuing people and animals throughout the affected areas. Everything from small fishing boats to larger craft can be used to bring in supplies or evacuate people in areas that aren't easily accessible to ground units or even aircraft.

Go Navy!!

Next up. Disaster Preparation and Training.

*Check local laws and ordinances before purchasing.
** I originally went w/ Militia Air Corps but then realized the acronym was MAC. Military Airlift Command.

Australia state bans laser pointers after attacks

High-powered hand lasers, including so-called "star pointers" used by astronomers, would be listed as prohibited weapons in New South Wales state with jail terms of up to 14 years for anyone carrying them without a permit...

The ban will build on planned national importation controls announce by the federal government earlier this month, treating laser pointers like firearms.

To surf and forget in Ford Heights..

When the local police decide just to stop showing up to work, who do you call? Well apparently you hope County will show up.

"For the last two years, sheriff's police officers have been staffing the morning and overnight shifts for the village, while Ford Heights police officers handled the day shift. But since March, when Ford Heights officers just stopped showing up for work, Dart said his office has scrambled to cover their absence and now feels the need to take over the job completely.

The town still retains a police chief, Earl Bridges, but neither he nor Ford Heights Mayor Saul Beck attended the news conference."

Yep. Is it bad that this doesn't surprise me?

Give them what they want and they won't hurt you...

So what did he want?

Julius Flournoy, 17, allegedly broke into an apartment in the 1900 block of West Winona Street at about 5:45 a.m. and used a knife to attack a sleeping couple, Officer John Mirabelli said.

Remember, it's your civic duty to be a victim.

Second Verse, Same as the First

After a weekend that saw 37 shot, 2 stabbed w/ 7 deaths Daley is showing just how "outside of the box" his thinking really is. I questioned earlier whether his appointment of Jody Weis as the new Superintendent of the CP would make any difference. Nothing has changed:

"You just have too many guns, gangs, too many weapons out here. That's why we have to work hard to take them off. Chicago has probably enjoyed the greatest success in taking weapons off the street," Weis said.

Do it again, only harder. Forget social programs or attempting to encourage family involvement, just blame the guns. That keeps Jackson and Sharpton from invoking their usual cries.

Carter is naive

Carter: Hamas is willing to accept Israel as its neighbor

Hamas leaders "said that they would accept a Palestinian state on the 1967 borders" and they would "accept the right of Israel to live as a neighbor next door in peace," Carter said.

Sure they would. Except:

In the past, Hamas officials have said they would establish a "peace in stages" if Israel were to withdraw to the borders it held before 1967. But it has been evasive about how it sees the final borders of a Palestinian state and has not abandoned its official call for Israel's destruction.

Shock. The man's living in a dreamworld.

"The problem is not that I met with Hamas in Syria," Carter said Monday. "The problem is that Israel and the United States refuse to meet with someone who must be involved."

Hmm. Let's see what the Hamas charter has to say about negotiations:

Peaceful Solutions, Initiatives and International Conferences:
Article Thirteen:

Initiatives, and so-called peaceful solutions and international conferences, are in contradiction to the principles of the Islamic Resistance Movement.
Abusing any part of Palestine is abuse directed against part of religion. Nationalism of the Islamic Resistance Movement is part of its religion. Its members have been fed on that. For the sake of hoisting the banner of Allah over their homeland they fight. "Allah will be prominent, but most people do not know."

Now and then the call goes out for the convening of an international conference to look for ways of solving the (Palestinian) question. Some accept, others reject the idea, for this or other reason, with one stipulation or more for consent to convening the conference and participating in it. Knowing the parties constituting the conference, their past and present attitudes towards Moslem problems, the Islamic Resistance Movement does not consider these conferences capable of realising the demands, restoring the rights or doing justice to the oppressed. These conferences are only ways of setting the infidels in the land of the Moslems as arbitraters. When did the infidels do justice to the believers?

"But the Jews will not be pleased with thee, neither the Christians, until thou follow their religion; say, The direction of Allah is the true direction. And verily if thou follow their desires, after the knowledge which hath been given thee, thou shalt find no patron or protector against Allah." (The Cow - verse 120).

There is no solution for the Palestinian question except through Jihad.
Initiatives, proposals and international conferences are all a waste of time and vain endeavors. The Palestinian people know better than to consent to having their future, rights and fate toyed with. As in said in the honourable Hadith:

"The people of Syria are Allah's lash in His land. He wreaks His vengeance through them against whomsoever He wishes among His slaves It is unthinkable that those who are double-faced among them should prosper over the faithful. They will certainly die out of grief and desperation."

Seriously, they think your local Rotary Club is an agent of Zionists:

Zionist organizations under various names and shapes, such as Freemasons, Rotary Clubs, espionage groups and others, which are all nothing more than cells of subversion and saboteurs.

And take the Protocols at face value:

Their plan is embodied in the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion", and their present conduct is the best proof of what we are saying.

By trying to revive his role as the great peacemaker, Carter has set himself up as a stooge. Their very founding document states that they'll accept nothing less than complete control of the area and the elimination of Israel yet he thinks that they'll start "playing nice" because they promised to. Really, they don't want anything but the Sudetenland West Bank, Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.

That's a sad way to end a good career.
