Collective Myths

Dave Hardy's latest article presents more evidence that the belief of the 'Collective Rights' myth of the 2A is a recent invention used to promote gun control:

To an early 21st century observer, it might seem that the militia-uses-only
view of the Second Amendment had always been predominant, and the Heller and
McDonald involved dramatic legal change. In full historical context, however, it
becomes apparent that those decisions recognize the individual rights understanding that had prevailed from the Framing onward. The militia-uses-only approach rejected in Heller and McDonald was in fact a very recent creation of the lower Federal courts, which had been subject to scholarly challenge almost from its
outset.

And unlike the gun control lobby, this historical research hasn't been funded by advocacy groups pushing a pre-determined conclusion.

Good Riddance..... But....

I certainly like the idea of Melson getting pinkslipped (another one under the bus that makes "O" look bad) but then I worry about what the Lightbringer would replace him w/.

Gun Walker Hearings: Facts vs Distractions

As the hearings were going on, gun control advocates squeaked and squalled that Issa kept the hearings on track and didn't let it get turned into a circus of 'We need to pass more laws'. That whole thing was about two sentences out of an entire day of hearings and 150 pages of transcript.

150 pages that include many statements like this:

"Rep Cummings: Special Agent Dodson, again, I'm trying to understand this. If you're following a suspected straw purchase and you start at the gun store and you follow it to a house, why wouldn't you keep following that -- that gun?

DODSON: Sir, that -- that's the one question that I can't answer for you is the why. It made no sense to us either. It's what we were ordered to do. And every time we questioned that order, you know, there was punitive action against those of us that did so."

But remember, all of this testimony, emails and evidence of abuse by the gov't resulting in increased crime and deaths is less important to the gun control advocates than pushing for more laws and restrictions. None of which would have prevented a single gun from being 'walked'.

VPC Desperate for Attention

So desperate they'll crow about any mention of their 'reports':


Even when the mention is surrounded by quotes describing the report as " a distraction technique." and containing "Cherry-picked data?"

IOW, they're begging anyone besides us gun nuts to read their mischaracterizations in the hopes someone, anyone, will believe them.

The UN puts out a statement against 'gun violence' but we all know what they really mean.

"It's still the gun lobby's fault"

That basically is Paul Helmke's claim as he tries to justify more gun bans.

It is obvious that the 'Fast and Furious' operation involved only a tiny percentage of those trafficked guns.

A 'tiny percentage'. Between 10 & 20%. The same percentage that's the total of guns allegedly from the US. But he doesn't consider that 'tiny'. The beauty line is this:

"What Congress needs to confront is why it is perfectly legal to buy 10 or 20 assault rifles at a time from a U.S. gun dealer.

Well as it turns out, those 'gun dealers' were wanting to stop many of the 'Fast & Furious' sales but were ordered to continue by the BATFE amounting in hundreds of guns being bought at a single time.

Any excuse to ban guns. Ignorance and lying.

SIH correctly refers to their cult behaviour a 'scam':

It’s never been more obvious what a scam their phony concern about “gun violence” is. They don’t give a crap about gun violence. All they care about is restricting the 2A to the greatest extent possible.

Things are Heating Up

In Wisconsin, the Senate overwhelmingly passed CCW 25-8. Next step is the Assembly. We'll be sure to see the Anti's continue their apoplectic fits over this as they ignore the fact that passing CCW has not caused 'blood in the streets' or 'wild west shootouts' anywhere. Wisconsin readers need to keep making their calls.

And as the 'Fast and Furious' hearings begin, the only recourse the PuSH'ers have is to try and smear/attack Issa, ignoring all the building evidence that the smuggling was well known to higher ups in the BATFE and DOJ and that they began stonewalling as soon as word leaked to the public (originally by bloggers mind you).

Don't hear about much of this in the media, do you?

Wishful Thinking

The VPC has put out yet another report touting the end of the firearm industry while at the same time 'military style' guns are flooding the country.

Throw in some race baiting, insinuations, and the usual covering their ears yelling 'WE'RE WINNING' and you have yet another sad example of gun control advocacy trying to justify their existence. Most of it's even just rehashed from their old 'reports'.

The Joyce Foundation is really getting their money's worth.

More Anti-Math

We keep hearing about all the guns that are 'submitted for tracing' from Mexico and how most of them (70%/90%/whatever the made up number of the day is) in order to justify more gun bans.

But these reports tend to ignore or not emphasize the TOTAL number of firearms collected by the Mexican authorities and never question the difference.

The latest claim. 20,504 out of 29,284 guns were from the US during '09 and '10

The total, according to Mexican journalists, however, was 129,243 collected during the same period.

15.86%.

That's nearly identical to the numbers Foxnews came up w/ when the 90% canard was being promoted and debunked.

And still no word on where the other 70-80% of these guns are coming from.

I wonder why?
