My buddy and I recently went camping in his Stick House. Basically, he bought 2 acres of land out in the middle of nowhere bordering a creek and built a small 2-story tree fort. Front porch, back porch, wood stove, pantry, bedrooms and a living room with a deluxe propane kitchen. You’d never know you were in a tree fort if it weren’t for the large fir tree running up through the center of it. Oh, and it also has a wood-stove fired hot tub. There’s something quite special about being in the middle of the woods in a hot tub, with a beer in your hands, while it’s snowing, with a good buddy. He and his wife are my best friends on this blue and green marble.
We talk guns, religion, philosophy and basically everything else that is supposed to be taboo for the work place.
This time the conversation coalesced around why there are only 4.3 million NRA members.
1. There are gun owners who will financially support the NRA, GOA, CCRKBA, SAS, SAF, and local groups like OFF(Oregon Firearms Federation).
2.There are gun owners who support the goals of these groups but aren’t willing to open their check books. Hell, there are even non gun owners who support the same goals and won’t give monetary support.
3. There are Fudds who think their guns will never be targeted by the antis even though they already have been.
4. There are gun owners who refuse to join the NRA because they don’t want to be “on a list.”
5. Sadly, there are some gun owners who feel that gun control and confiscation is inevitable and that preparing for a hot war is the only option to fighting a cold war of ideas and working within the system of the ballot box.
That last one disturbs me on many levels.
People who are not willing to fight for their Rights in the political arena when the benefits are high and the risks are low, are not someone I want in my fox hole, should we find ourselves in America’s 2nd Civil War.
Truth be told, people who aren’t willing to fight for their Rights when it’s easy, won’t fight for them when it is hard.
That’s just common sense.

QOTD
Concerning the faux Oregon gunsmith who states the following:
"Regarding Mayor Adams' proposals for gun control, I must add my perspective. As a former Army officer, gunsmith, member of the NRA and a competitive marksman, I see no reason why citizens, other than law enforcement, should have free access to armor-piercing rounds, military or automatic weapons, extended clips or undocumented purchases at gun shows."
An anonymous commenter over on japete's blog sums up the anti's belief that the ends justify the means:
"It doesn't matter that the author lied about his background because he speaks the truth when it comes to gun violence."
The comment thread has some other good nuggets as well...
1. Japete has a friend who is a gun smith and doesn't have an FFL and doesn't need one.
2. Then she back peddles and says her friend is not a gunsmith, but a gun manufacturer of muzzle-loaders and doesn't have an FFL.
3. Then she says that her friend sells his guns and doesn't need an FFL.
4. Then she says the ATF requires anyone selling guns to have an FFL.
Except her friend because he does this privately at a local gun store who calls in the NICS.
*sigh*
This is most likely who she's referring to, who is making guns and selling them as a business.
I'll be the first to admit that I'm no expert on laws pertaining to buying and selling homemade guns, but japete still can't avoid directly contracting herself and then not even be able to see that she's contradicting herself.

More CSGV PSH
Ladd "2A Nonsense" Everitt is a goldmine for the Anti-gun mindset.
Proof they're living in denial.
So many more . A further Look into the mind of a Gun Control Fanatic.
@TrailerDays What rights spelled out by James Madison are you referring to , anti-government militia guy? Still waiting... #politics #p2The CSGV calls for people who speak out against gov't abuse to be imprisoned, considers the 2A 'nonsense, and actively endorses denial of due process due to secret gov't 'watchlists'. They know it which is why Ladd responds w/ childish insults and denials. Just like when he tried to claim that the CSGV wasn't part of IANSA and his denials over his use of his boss' login, outing himself as a sockpuppet.
@CSGV : See? I've spelled it out. Calling for denial of free speech, secret watchlists, denial of due process. CSGV endorsed.
@TrailerDays You'd be a good sub for Glenn Beck, but you wouldn't know James Madison from Charlie Sheen.
Proof they're living in denial.
@TrailerDays I guess a photo like that is great when you have no polling data on your side. Even gun owners aren't with you.Look at the photo for a laugh as to their response.
So many more . A further Look into the mind of a Gun Control Fanatic.
@wotc_linoge You probably want to revisit your recent comments in support of shooting gov't officials in response to local corruption.
@wotc_linoge Sure you are. You try to justify your right to shoot and kill government officials incessantly.
@TrailerDays @k0diak314 Oathkeepers are modern equivalent of Shays' Rebels, individuals why fancy themselves about Const. and rule of law.
@TrailerDays @k0diak314 Add "conspiracy theorist" to outlier, insurrectionist, and traitor
@TrailerDays @k0diak314 You're sad, an anarchist outlier, the type who was totally ignored during the debate on our Constitution.
@TrailerDays @k0diak314 You're no more fit to lecture people about the Constitution than Timothy McVeigh was
@TrailerDays @k0diak314 You're a paranoid extremist who arms himself against our gov't. That's what's truly telling.

Who Needs Validation Again?
A VPC Tweet:
We know who's 'desperate'.
Desperate for validation, NRA promotes eight "celebrity hunters." You decide. http://fb.me/DyMrzAGFReally. 8 people who have some influence in pop culture hunt and the NRA thinks that's something people would like to know about. The VPC considers that 'Desperate for validation'. Ignoring the fact the NRA has about 4 million members while they survive by sucking on the teat of the Joyce Foundation.
We know who's 'desperate'.

More Clueless Wonders.
On the proposed IL CCW law:
"Common sense tells us that fender benders could turn into a shootout," said former Cook County State's Attorney Dick Devine.Which is why it's a regular occurrence in the other 48 states that have it, right? Oh wait. No. It's not.
"I think it's very offensive and very misleading when people say kids carrying guns on campus will save lives. That's not the case," said Mace.I think it's very offensive and very misleading when you make completely fabricated claims w/o knowing what you're talking about.

CeaseFire Illinois Goes Anti-Gun
CF Illinois was actually a pretty good group unlike the other Ceasefire's across the nation. They actively worked to reduce violence in crime ridden neighborhoods w/ methods like negotiation, youth involvement and community activism.
Unfortunately they don't know crap about legal firearm ownership or CCW.
Oh right.
Unfortunately they don't know crap about legal firearm ownership or CCW.
“Concealed carry — what that does is reinforce the idea that violence is OK,” Hardiman says. “What we are doing is trying to talk these guys down, but this encourages that cowboy mentality.”They mostly deal w/ violent criminals and gang members. How many of those types are going to bother getting a license to carry a firearm? How many of them even bother w/ the license to own one?
Oh right.

Chicago Crime Statistics .
On the day that gun control advocates are holding a press conference in Chicago to plea for Chicago style laws across the state and oppose CCW, Maybe they should note that homicides are up 18% so far this year giving more murders over the jan/feb period (52) than in the last 6 years.
If it doesn't work, do it again, only harder. .

Quote of the Day
On our latest Fudd:
Mall Ninjas need to stick together after all. :)
Well, as a former Army SEAL, member of the NRA and the sergeant of the three-man Rapid Tactical Force at one of America's largest indoor retail shopping areas, I agree with my fellow patriot and firearms owner...
Mall Ninjas need to stick together after all. :)

We Should Do A Fundraiser.
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership has been hurting lately. Their finances are stretched and they're being forced to hire lobbyist to keep the last two states from passing CCW laws.
That being said. We're not overly mean or cruel. Let's not be judgmental. Let's all band together to give these folks what they need .
A Brady Band-Aid. They're sure to love it -- they're used to covering stuff up!"
