Chicago's Gun Free Zones and One Stupid Police Chief

And what's that in relation to?  A bunch of gangbangers shooting up a park trying to kill other gangbangers.  Using a gun that's illegal in Chicago. Bet they didn't have FOID's either.  Oh, and they were 'good boys'.

Now Chicago's police chief and Mayor Rhambo thinks that the best way to stop this would be to pass a law w/ a minimum 3 yr sentence for carrying a gun. Since there were already multiple laws these wonderful human beings broke that they could be (but rarely are) convicted on, who could they possibly be targeting w/ a call for such a law?

Oh right, the soon to be hundreds of thousands of CCW holders Illinois will soon have.  Put some in jail for 3 yrs for carrying in a park and it will discourage others from getting one.

Wait?  What? Carrying in the park will be illegal?  Did I forget to mention that?  Even after the CCW law goes into effect, parks will still be 'gun free zones', just like it is now.  Never let crisis go to waste, right Rhambo?

Champaign Cnty To Fund Gun Organizations

Not directly but they will through the lawsuits that will follow should they try and pass new anti-gun laws in their Housing Authority.

Registration, 'safe storage', etc.  John Boch of GSL said it simply:

These people are either trying to snub their noses at the law or are to stupid to know what they're doing is illegal.  Either way, SOP for anti-gun advocates.

Foreshadowing the Lawsuits Against the ISP

One can just imagine the lawyers for the NRA, ISRA and SAF sharpening their pencils, loading up the printers and prepping for long nights of paperwork.

Why?

Well seems the ISP is trying to play fast(or is that slow) and loose w/ the instructor certification for CCW and the approval of courses.  Instructors are being approved, then denied almost at random, the website is a joke, and not one single course has been authorized.

There are only two possible reasons for this.  Incompetence or outright obstructionism.  Either reason is going to get them their @sses handed to them in court. 

They want to play games?  Let them.  There are lots of gamemasters among the gunnie set.

Update:  Apparently the message is getting across.  They've allegedly added 400-ish names since last night.

IL CCW.... Don't Do It....Yet

Even though TTAG is claiming that IL is a 'Constitutional Carry' State, you can still get your @ss arrested.

The ISP is getting plenty of flack currently for the snail's pace they're approving instructors.  It's going to be interesting to see what they do when they get 100K applications in a few months.  Going to be plenty of lawsuits then, including all the location restrictions in the laws.

While in Chicago, gangbangers keep gangbanging. 

Sources told the station Monday that the Thursday night shooting at Cornell Square Park on Chicago's South Side was in retaliation for a minor bullet wound suffered by a gang member hours earlier. Police have said some of the victims in the park were members of the Gangster Disciples street gang and the shooters were suspected of being affiliated with the Black P Stones.

Don't Lawyer Up If You're Wrong

Btw, written is 'libel', not 'slander' and it's only that if it is completely untrue and GLS knew it.If you don't even know that basic bit of legal theory, don't go threatening to lawyer up against a guy who flavors his coffee w/ them.  Since you DID post inaccurate information (like 'range training' in cities w/ no ranges), then it's your F*&^ up, not GSL's.

AK/SKS Zeroing

Took out the SKS's and AK w/ a friend and the sight adjustment tool.

SKS's first.

They need a hair more tweeking but good enough for one day. The final rounds were the three just high and right to zero:

And not a single 'popped primer' in any of the mix of older and new Wolf ammo casings.

It didn't take much at all. Just a tap to the left.
