Over at GSL, he and Pres. John Boch had some email conversations but IMO he still just doesn't get it.
His original article not only misconstrued ‘well regulated’ and was phrased like every other “I’m a gun owner but….” screed I’ve ever read but he then talked to every media outlet hostile to the 2A (NYT for example) and dug his hole even deeper by using anti-gun terminology in his numerous responses.

I stand by my assertion that his ivory tower hasn’t included interaction w/ gun control advocates for a long time. He goes on about “constitutionally-validated regulations and statutes” which includes semi-auto bans and countless others leaving us years of litigation and legislation to try and overturn it. His vague 'regulations are fine' bit are what led to every restriction and ban we've fought so long and hard to overcome.  His 'let's have a discussion' bit is fine until you actually look at how unreasonable anti-gun advocates are in their fanaticism.  New York and Colorado come to mind of 'statutes' that, by his wording, would be acceptable.

As far as I’m aware, it wasn’t until CCW was already court mandated (2013) that G&A showed up to an IGOLD. I am unable to locate any columns by Metcalf regarding the years of various legal wranglings that occurred in IL nor did he testify at the hearings in his very own state as an ‘expert’. As a matter of fact, I haven't seen him anywhere in 'active' advocacy circles over the last decade I've been involved. Please correct me if I'm wrong but until then his 'years of advocacy and research' mean exactly bupkis.

Streetlight McCarthy: Concealed Carry Same As Drunken Driving

The expert in carrying a firearm while intoxicated speaks:

“This is what I said from Day One: More guns is not the solution to gun violence. That’s akin to saying everybody should drive drunk to stop drunken driving. It doesn’t work that way.”

So what's giving Chicago Police Supt. McCarthy flashbacks?  Something he thinks will be an excuse to restrict Concealed Carry in Illinois. 

After Wednesday’s meeting at Kennedy-King, McCarthy also disclosed that one of the men shot this week at a North Side nightclub had one of the state’s new concealed-carry permits and that the gun is now gone.
“We’re trying to determine, is this a case where that gun was taken from him when that shooting occurred?” he said.

Here's the rub.  It was a GUN FREE ZONE.  An establishment where CCW was barred due to 50%+ sales of alcohol.  Evidence?  Why the news. Watch the video.  Look at the sign over the reporters' left shoulder.

Know what that is boils and ghouls?  That's an IL mandated GFZ sign.

So McCarthy, again an expert in drinking and shooting, assumes that because an individual has a CCW license, then that person is automatically carrying in a place in violation of the law and spouting out w/ blame w/o any evidence whatsoever.  Typical of his police work and the libel/slander that license holders face from anti-gun fanatics in Illinois.

So a 20yr old man in Chicago who's trying to turn his life around gets shot. 

Dozier said though McCollum is not in a gang now, that doesn't mean he was a random victim. The police report states the shooting may have been gang-related.

Two guys got out of a white car and started shooting at him.  Yeah, it was 'gang-related'.  Whether mistaken identity, 'revenge' for past connections, or he's not turning much around.... hard to know.  What we do know is the standard 'blame the guns' meme is the excuse for Chicago's failure in social experimentation.

Now let's look at another shooting that occurred recently and the history.

Jerome N. Harris, 17, was shot about 9 p.m. Sunday in the 1100 block of West 112th Place and died about an hour later at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, authorities said.

This individual is going to go down in the Anti's books as a 'child gun death' but let's go back two years to when he was 15 or 16:

Harris had previously been charged with several felonies for allegedly firing shots at a police officer in August 2012, according to police and court records.

So he shot a police officer.  What happened to him? 

Harris pleaded guilty in October 2013 to aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and aggravated assault of a police officer, court records show. The other charges, including attempted murder, were dropped.

So he was out of jail after less than two years served for actively trying to kill someone.  This is the kind of revolving door 'justice' system that's in place in Chicago/Cook County.  How many charges had been dropped/pled down against the shooters of McCollum or the dozens of other repeat, violent offenders in the city?  Why are they out running the streets? 

It has nothing to do w/ 'flow of illegal guns' and everything to do w/ incompetence, laziness, and a cultural lack of ethics/morals.

Grassroots vs Astroturf- Illinois Edition

Arlington Heights, IL was going to allow the MDA-IL chapter (w/ a membership of 3K 'likes' on FB) at an 'anti-violence' event but not any pro-rights group.  Not going to fly.

The ISRA reacted by emailing its members and "[advising] them to call the park district to complain and then" to attend the event to counter Moms Demand.
The ISRA also asked members to alert every NRA member in the area and ask them to attend as well.
On August 4 the Moms Demand chapter emailed Arlington Heights Park District director Steven Scholten to say they had changed their minds: they will not be attending the National Night Out Event.

And the local paper even called it as they saw it:

Everytown For Astroturf

Taking over the Joyce Foundation mission of creating 'grassroots' anti-gun organizations at the state level, Bloomberg's 'Everytown' recently bought out the NCGV name (since it wasn't really a group), and are now setting up organizations in WA and NV under a bunch of front companies. 

A Who Is domain registry search shows the site registrant is masked through Domains By Proxy, LLC, of Scottsdale, Ariz. The “Nevadans” trying to influence public policy evidently do not want that public to know who they are.
Looking the group up in a Nevada Secretary of State corporation search shows the “Reservation Holder” for the business entity name is one Margaret Rohlfing, who provided an address of “575 7th St. NW, Washington, D.C. 20004. That is the address for Venable LLP, the law firm representing Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown in trademark registration. Again, how anyone involved can claim to be a "Nevadan" is not addressed.

So more fake anti-gun groups claiming 'grassroots' w/ no actual members outside of the Washingtons, Lincolns, and Grants on Bloomberg's money. This will keep happening but remember, it's the 'Gun Lobby' who's dumping big money into politics.

A minor political figure from 30+ years ago who spent much of his life trying to strip people of their rights and property passed away.

And the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership use his death to build up an Email list they can sell.
