Beautiful Weather in Chicago
11 shot, 3 fatally, in city overnight
At least 7 wounded in shootings across Chicago
And the weekend's just started. Chicago politicians think allowing law-abiding citizens to defend themselves will make things worse.
That's anti-gun logic for you.

Faster FOID's in IL?
Or just a way to pass the buck and find an excuse to blame others for the 3-6 month delay in processing and 70K backlog?
H/T to GSL
The company, called Rely, was hired last year by the state to transfer applicant information from FOID records into computers. They better get things together quick since CCW applications are going to be flooding their offices soon.
The firm, headquartered in Hoffman Estates, has been notified by state police officials that they weren't doing the job.
This contract with Rely has been terminated early.
A new deal was struck with a firm called Boland Enterprises - an emergency service purchase under a 90 day contract for the keying and scanning of firearm owners identification card applications to meet the continued need for the Illinois State Police to meet its statutory mandate.

IL CCW..Round ∞ +1
Chicago is running scared in the countdown to Constitutional Carry in Illinois. And they're doing it in the traditional way of politicians, attaching it to a completely unrelated bill in order to try and sneak/jam it through the legislature.
Amendment 1:

HB 0183:Oh but wait, there's more:

Reality vs What PuSH'ers Wish Was Reality
My job is a mite stressful. 'Mite' as in when I come home I regularly sequester myself alone in my den for an hour or so to unwind.*
And as much of an insurrectionist, sociopathic, low information, knuckle-dragging, gun nut the PuSH'ers wish I were, I have never once even considered going 'Postal' or committing any form of violence using my firearms or anything else.
Why?
Because like the majority of firearm owners and citizens in general, I'm a pretty stable and well adjusted individual. I have plenty of ways that I deal w/ stress. Reading a book, watching TV, taking a nap, playing w/ the 4th and 5th powers, petting the cats/dogs... and yes, target shooting.
Again, unlike what Ladd Everitt wishes I was doing, they're not targets of Obama or anyone else I don't particularly care for. Usually they're these circle shaped thingy's w/ X's in the middle or old cans. Sometimes a discarded appliance with a scary 'high capacity magazine' if I'm feeling particularly on edge.
and no, never once have any of those items ever mentally morphed into one of my co-workers or anyone else.
Amazing isn't it?
So maybe, just maybe, those individuals who call for 'psych evals' before being 'allowed' to own a firearm should check their own mental makeup before challenging others'. I'm betting they probably won't be all that surprised as to what gets determined.
*Note that while it is insanely stressful, I am very thankful for said job and the rewards of dealing w/ said stress are well worth it.

Reasoned Discourse Part (insert big number here)
You really have to love people who think they're better than others. Just take this 'I'm a gun owner butt...' FB page:
Guess what skippy? When you open up a PUBLIC FACE BOOK page, it, by definition, is an OPEN PUBLIC FORUM. Otherwise make it a closed group so you can have your echo chamber. And nice little bit of playing the race card.
Be respectful. Do not comment on this page unless you support reasonable gun control. And of course 'reasonable' is whatever he says it is, specifically registration and mag bans. Otherwise:
If you can't do that, then you are (by my definition) unreasonable. It is my page, not a open public forum for angry white boys. And any opposition will get you banned and deleted, just like any other anti-gun page. They will leave up/highlight the 'troll' posts though to try and smear all pro-rights advocates. Again. SOP.

IL CCW..Round ∞
As is typical, anti-gun Chicago papers make up stupid crap right before the next round of keystone legislators in Springfield:
Gun sale loopholes can often put weapons in felons' hands
So woman commits multiple crimes, gets caught, and goes to jail. How the f*ck is that a 'loophole'?
Oh right, it's a 'loophole' when anti-gun Chicago politicians are pushing to punish victims of crime w/ 'Lost & Stolen' laws w/ this logic:
It's also the week that the CCW bill is expected to be taken up again w/ the June 9th deadline fast approaching. How convenient. Expect to see another swath of poison pill amendments thrown into the mix.

Right. Make it more illegaler and they 'might' not break the law.The hope is that straw purchasers would be less likely to help out a friend if they know they have to report a gun missing.

A Mother's Day Miracle
Swung by Rural King while running some errands and saw something I haven't seen in months.
Ammo.
Not a lot but there was some 7.62x39, .40, and .22lr. Enough that they weren't limiting purchases. There were also several shelves and hanging displays of AR mags. A mix of Thermold and Pro-mag.
Things definitely seem to be improving.
And the usual Mother's Day platitudes to mom's out there.
