FourthPowers Alpha and Bravo's 7th B-day is soon and my mom is down for a visit. What better to do then than have a little shooty fun w/ the family?
Mom had never shot the Kel-Tec P32 she got for home protection and has only shot handguns a few times overall. She was getting center mass on a man sized target at 10m.
The better half practicing w/ her P32.
This was the first time the spawnlings shot a real gun. They followed all instructions, listened well and hit the target more often than not at about 5m.

Stirring Up The Bottom
The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership, desperate to regain any form of relevancy, has pushed the stick further down into the cesspool that is Huffpo in order to try and stir things up. In other words, they're posting 'controversial topics' in the 'Media' section in lieu of 'Politics' where they regularly get their @sses handed to them.
Unfortunately for Paul, all he's doing is kicking up the turds that reside near the bottom in an effort to find one or two that look polished. While Huffpo hasn't devolved to 'quite' as bad as AOL or Yahoo message boards it's not to far from it with most people just making irrelevant, sophomoric comments just to type something, usually a variation of 'Bush did it'.
Fortunately for us, while he may garner thousands of comments on a single post, none of those individuals actually give a crap about gun control nor will they do anything to support it beyond making said comments. All the while, after we're done delving the depths, we're heading to the range, buying ammo/accessories at our local friendly FFL (or online), networking, and generally being active.
So keep those penis jokes and BDS symptoms coming folks. We really do appreciate them.

Instinct vs trust and the domesticated animal.
Not sure if this is gonna be about the 2A or not yet cause this is just free thought writing for the moment. If it gels into anything worth reading, you should know about halfway through.
The domesticated dog and the pack mentality.
Although this story actually took place before Helen Thomas entered her career as a journalist, some anthropologists have managed to piece together what transpired between early humans and wolves, the Great GrandFather of all dogs.
Went something like this…
Thog was a typical hunter and gatherer who lived in a community who had just found fire. I say found because I think it much more likely that early humans traveled through a forest ravaged by wildfire and found the first BBQ and started working on their sauces. Some embers we’re collected, kept fed and held in high regard. Imagine, something which allows you to see in the dark and wards off predators and provides heat………………….but you couldn’t even touch it. Must have seemed magical to the kaveman.
The skill to make fire came much later because necessity is truly the Mother of all inventions.
Thog and his friends enjoyed a cooked feast for the first time and developed a taste for burnt on the outside yet still pink on the inside. Finally, something to go with these god-damned potatoes.
Smoke rising in the distance was now a sure sign of easy food. Rally the troops and head forth. We we’re certainly hunters, no doubt. But if you don’t have to chase down your food, well that’s a “rule of Duh.” Our ancestors were not the knuckle-dragging stereotypes so often ascribed to modern day owners of boomsticks. They had our brains, our reasoning, our basic logic, just not our technology. If I had a time machine and could travel back 500,000 years with a couple of bic lighters, a cell phone camera and my recipe for BBQ sauce………………..I would be considered a GOD.
Wolves dug through our “garbage” back then just like a modern domestic is happy with licking the plates clean after a meal.
While our ancestors most likely dug out the marrow from the large bones, we tossed the bones themselves into a pile.
Rule of Duh #57.…..dogs like bones.
We were followed. We were watched from a distance. We were providing an environment for coexistence.
Here’s the tricky part.
Back then, a pack of humans and a pack of wolves were on some decent even footing. We had fire and spears. They had fangs, claws and brute numbers. We were both natural food to each other, but again………why would a wolf risk injury if they could eat for free?
Well…if we’re both eating, me the soft flesh of a slow animal, and you my garbage, and you don’t really like getting to close to the camp fire…………then we have a stand-off, day after day after day. Thog goes looking for more BBQ and the wolves watch me return and toss more bones.
At some point, our ancestors must have realized that the sense of hearing of wolves could benefit the community he was trying to feed. We ate meat, they ate bones and noone ate each other.
Wolves alerted us to others approaching. We tossed dog food and had a protective sphere of fire. Soon after that, we invented carpet for them to poop on. Oh, and I need to mention that I like guns.

WASHINGTON – Democratic leaders say they've emptied the swamp of congressional corruption.
So there are no more CongressThings left in DC?
This is just sad.

I'm Sure It Will Help
IL Gov. Quinn is accepting the endorsement of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Ownership.
During the primaries this year, most politicians who got their endorsement didn't even bother putting it up on their pages so I wonder how much Quinn's campaign will publicize this.
Rasmussen has Quinn trailing his opponent BILL Brady (no relation) by 7 points (as of 7/29). It's doubtful that this is going to garner him many votes ( Daley will make sure my dead grandma will vote for him early and often) but it's sure going to cost him some.

Latest Top Shot
So Caleb's a little rat and Tara, the Illinois shooter, is gone. So who do I root for now? Kelly or JJ? As long as Adam goes down in flames though, I'll be happy.
As an aside, I know Chief AJ, the slingshot expert. Talked w/ him at many a local gun show and ran tables next to him. He's an absolute trip to talk to and yes, he's that hyper ALL the time.

I Was Waiting For It....
Two Democrat CongressCritters, Rangel and Waters, are facing ethics charges. Both happen to be African American.
Enter the cries of racism.
So now we watch the party in power excuse the unethical/illegal actions of their members and try to change the rules. The exact same thing they screamed bloody murder about when they were the minority party.
This is 'Hopey Changey' in a nutshell.
New boss, same as the old boss.
Enter the cries of racism.
All of this has raised the ire of many Democrats. They accuse the independent Office of Congressional Ethics, which is largely composed of former members, of operating outside of its mandate and often targeting CBC members.
"A lot of people have been raising concerns [about the OCE], and I support them," House Majority Whip Jim Clyburn said last year. "At some point in the not-so-distant future, these concerns will have to be addressed." Sure enough, two months ago Ohio Democrat Marcia Fudge and 19 other members of the Congressional Black Caucus introduced legislation to reduce the office's powers to investigate wrongdoing.

I love debate but...
Seems like the more time I spend on the interweb tubes talking to idiots, the more I grow tired of talking to anybody.
I'm simply amazed at the logical fallacies and mental gymnastics employed but I'm damn tired of going back to the basics time and time again. My usual haunt is HuffPo over at Helmke's and Henigan's rants but lately, there's more anti BS and outright lies by authors I've never heard of before. Perhaps they've been there all along and I'm just noticing them now.
I've had a lot more success talking to people at work about my hobby and my passion. Once they get to know me, I'm already in a position of being respected for being damn good at what I do for a paycheck. That gives me an "in."
On the web, I cater to the fence-sitters who read but never comment. I need to remember that.
We all need to remember that.

Oh the Irony..
Via Stephen Wright, I posted that after the 'Freedom States Alliance' went tits up and folded into 'States United' the 'Gun Guys' website went independent.
Then I remembered an alert from the SUPGV sent out back in May which Kaveman linked to.
Apparently they don't want ANYONE to purchase Guys, not just terrorists.
