Courageous? So says Carolyn McCarthy

From an Email by Carolyn "Shoulder thing that goes up" McCarthy:
Senator Dianne Feinstein of California has courageously slowed the "Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act" down in the Senate using a parliamentary procedure called a “hold.”
Really? Preventing legislation from getting to the floor for a vote using little tricks is 'courageous'?  Especially knowing it will likely pass?

F*ck you Carolyn.  That's not "courageous", that's cowardice.  Not only cowardice but it's opposite of the entire meaning of this republic and I will say that about ANY politician that plays these kinds of tricks. 'Courageous'. Just another word you don't know the meaning of. Like 'honor' and 'integrity'.

And you know what?  Your supporters are just as stupid and ignorant as you are:
Carolyn's right -- this isn't the Wild West.
Those lawless days are over except for in two places -- in Hollywood and in the dreams of the gun manufacturing lobby, which is trying to loosen concealed handgun laws across the country...

Thanks,
Peggy May
Treasurer Friends of Carolyn McCarthy
Maybe Peggy should pay attention to the news where the national homicide rate has dropped steadily for years while the 'Wild West' scenarios she dreams of aren't happening.  And she votes.

So f*ck you to Peggy.  Read the news about Chicago sometime.

That Victim Mentality

We've regularly seen Joan Peterson and Jason Kilgore claim to be 'victims of gun crime' (even though they weren't) and use that as justification to be anti-gun.

Well yesterday's play toy decided to double down and play the victim card:
Since I lost a loved one due to gun lovers I believe I will. The maority of homicides are caused by guns. They kill more people than all other weapons combined. They cause heartache and grief. . .and all we're talking about here is killing, we haven't even touched on wounding/maiming and intimidation. But by all means, keep tryig to intimidate me - -you have no gun in my face so I can exercise my right to speak freely.
Not only the 'victim card' but moving the goal-posts from her original claim of 'gun crime was increasing and the claims that we're trying to 'intimidate'.  It continues.
I just cut and pasted what the National Institute of Justice has on their web site.
And when I pointed out that she didn't do that, she got offended.
Guns are mad to kill or maim. Other than target practice to get better at killing, they serve no other purpose. If my stats were not to your liking, they were simply what I had read and passed on and did not deserve what several of you decided to do about it - telling me I am dishonest, playing a victim, ignorant etc. Those are attacks. Don't like my words too bad. Now shoo - go away.
you are suspiciously sounding like a bully. I have changed nothing. I offered up what I read and said I'd be attacked for it and I have been.
So whenever you don't like someone oe what they say (evidently me at this point) you attack - - no wonder you need guns.
Now I am tired of your attacks. You cling to your precious weapons made only for killing. Buh bye
I have experienced you people who use your guns. It means more to me than your propaganda. Why are NRA and gun lovers words more important than anyone else's?
buh bye - you woudn't know honesty if it jumped up and took your gun away.
And if I don't abide by your command - what'll ya do - shoot me?
Okay - now go away.
I see - or could it be that a lone voice on a thread is easier, especially when so MANY band together to "shoot" down any beliefs she has that differ from the gang.

When their status as a 'victim' doesn't work, they then start claiming you're a 'bully' and trying to 'intimidate'. This is little different than the rape terminology the sycophant 'Kelli' used to use on the old Brady Campaign blog when her 'special insight' was questioned.  And when it is overwhelmingly shown that she's been caught in several fabrications and the attempts to threaten us don't work, she demands we 'go away'.  Why? Because in her world, she has a 'right' to comment on an open forum w/ opposition whereas we do not.

Because she is a 'victim' and that is her defining characteristic.

UpDate:  And we have the 'small penis' comment:
The "gun culture" in the U.S. shows that too many men are infantile jerks, holding onto their guns, including ridiculous automatic weapons, to prop up their less than adequate manhood. It is a culture of cowards. (former NRA member)
They're so predictable.

Fun w/ Numbers

I recently read this comment over on Huffpo:
Gun fatalities have been on the rise– slowly but steadily every year since 2002, according to a National Institute of Justice survey. In 1975, 60 percent of the homicides in the U.S. were committed using a handgun. By 2005 that number had shot up to nearly 80 percent, with the rise in gang related gun killings even steeper.
Well I responded that homicide rates are lower than they were in 1975 so that claim is7 years out of date.  The response:
I agree that homicide rates have slightly decreased, but not homcsides comitted by those using guns. Gun related deaths have risen.
Slightly?  In 1975, homicide rates were 9.6/100k.  In 2010, they they were 4.8 and dropped even more in 2011.  Even using the outdated 2005 numbers it was 5.6.  But let's go on.
Number of murders 1975 :20510 2010: 14748   2005: 16740
According to the NIJ, the number of homicides by firearms in 1976: 11979 In 2005: 11346

So while the 'percentages' may be higher (from 64%-68%), the rate and number of homicides by firearms and total are lower than they were in 1975.

You may have noticed I used NIJ numbers from 1976, not 1975.  Let's compare what the linked article from 'Care2' says above (using Joyce Foundation puppet reports) compared to what the actual NIJ report says:
the percentage of homicides caused by firearms during the commission of a felony rose from about 60 percent to 77 percent from 1976 to 2005.
Not only did they get the year wrong, they didn't even use the right statistics.

So was this a deliberate attempt to skew the numbers or sloppy reporting?  Or both.

For more fun w/ numbers, take a look at Linoge's 'Graphics Matter' series.

Chicago Culture

The city w/ all the gun laws desired by gun control advocates:

Eight Teens Charged In Mob Attacks Over The Weekend

At Least 8 Dead, 40 Wounded In Weekend Shootings

2 Killed, 5 Shot — Including Pregnant Woman — In Overnight Gun Violence

I'm thinking that 51% homicide increase for the city is going to get higher before the end of the year.

All the while, gun control groups funded by the Joyce Foundation and Chicago area politicians blame legal firearm owners for the actions of what are primarily gang members and other criminals.

And Still No 'Insurrectionist Timeline' Entry

Joy Behar, host on ABC's 'The View': advocated felony destruction of property against a sitting former state governor and US Presidential candidate. This will not be reported by the CSGV as 'insurrectionism' because the victim of these actions would be Republican (INO) Mitt Romney:
“I’d like to see his house burn, one of his millions of houses burning down,” said Behar, a co-host on ABC’s “The View” daytime talk show, in an interview with the website Mediaite.
And throw in some 'progressive' religious discrimination as well, just like BC/MMM spokes-bigot Andrew Goddard.
“Who's he going to call, the Mormon fire patrol?”
Had this been a 'conservative' talk show host like Beck or Limbaugh making similar comments about Obama or Muslims, we know what the response would be. An instant entry, dozens of tweets and FB entries.

Aren't double standards fun?

'Child' Gun Death

Reading this Darwin award headline:

Drunken teen killed by own ricocheted gunshot in southern Texas

Oh but it gets better:
he shot at a butane tank
Trevino said deputies found Torres' father and his two sons had been drinking heavily prior to the incident.

Torres' family was living in the U.S. illegally.
Yeah.  Remember, illegal aliens drinking underage and shooting at containers of highly flammable materials is YOUR fault for not accepting 'reasonable, common-sense' gun laws.

Fortress America

This game was second on my table only to Axis and Allies back in the 80's and has been out of print for years.  Think A&A meets Red Dawn for an idea of what it was about. It had hover tanks, American guerrilla's, laser towers etc. just to add to the adolescent board game geek-fest.

Well a company called 'Fantasy Flight Games' has re-released it just last week.

It looks like they've modernized the pieces but overall looks pretty close to the original play wise.

Yeah, the inner-geek in me ordered a copy.

Justifiable....

A Texas father has not been arrested and is unlikely to face charges after he beat a man to death for trying to molest his 4-year-old daughter at their rural ranch, authorities said Monday.

So what does the Ladd Everitt and the CSGV have to say to this one?  Should he be prosecuted for murder? What would one have them have done in the same circumstance?

But Not In Chicago

While Sebastian TBFKASIH has a post up remarking on the FBI reporting crime continues to drop nationwide, Chicago's homicide rate is up 51%. Yes. That's right. 51%. 203 through May 27th.

All the while they're spending millions defending their gun bans, keeping non-criminals disarmed and sending politicians to Springfield to blame everyone else for their problems.

An effective plan to be sure.
