IL Senator Dan Kotowski (IL-28-D.A*)stated in his temper tantrum that only the 'Gun Industry/Lobbyists' want 'High Capacity' Magazines of more than 10 rounds and that 'regular, law abiding' gun owners want them banned.
Is this true? Take the poll.
Please don't answer if you're an official 'Gun Industry' Lobbyist or a Gun Industry.
Note: For some reason, the 'widget' dropped 300 'No' votes from the tally. Each time at the 100's.and at least a couple of 'yes' votes. I removed and reset it. Try again please.

IL CCW Passes House and Senate.
In the Senate Yeas. 45 nays 12.
In the House 89 Yay 28 Nay
On to the Governor.
He can veto and the house/senate can override (or not, then the cliff)
He can line item veto. Same as above.
He can let it sit. Then we have free for all from June 9th until the 60 days when it becomes law
He can sign it.
But, even as historical as this is, the last state getting CCW, the sweetest moment of the day was Sen. Kotowski's meltdown as his standard capacity magazine ban dies:

Why Are Anti-Gun Activists So Violent?
Taking a short break from the circus that is the Illinois Legislature on CCW, we find this:
Head of CeaseFire Illinois charged with domestic batteryAnd this is how he feels about guns (CCW specifically):
Tio Hardiman, the director of the anti-violence group CeaseFire Illinois, was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge Friday morning at his home in west suburban Hillside.
So beating your wife isn't 'violence' as long as a gun isn't involved?CeaseFire tries to mediate in neighborhoods where conflicts too often are settled with guns. But its efforts to settle disputes without guns would be undermined by a concealed-carry law, Hardiman said. Such a law simply would promote the idea that guns are the answer.“Concealed carry — what that does is reinforce the idea that violence is OK,” Hardiman says. “What we are doing is trying to talk these guys down, but this encourages that cowboy mentality.”

Last Day of IL Legislative Session
Synopsis: HB183 Passes Senate and House. On to the Governor.
HB1189 ( PRivate sale background check through ISP) Passed Senate No penalty for it though. Stupid.
HB2831 Mag Ban fails Senate
A deal has allegedly been reached on CCW in IL. Two amendments (5&6) have been added to HB 183. Todd V., the NRA lobbyist, spent most of the night reading the bill. He also said that they're expecting the anti's to try and push through a mag ban and 'lost &stolen' bill today.
Basic provisions:
Shall issue w/ CCW related issues preempted statewide meaning Chicago can't ban 10rnd+ handgun mags and their handgun registration is gone.
AWB's are grandfathered in but no new ones can be passed.
Veterans, Hunters and CCW holders from out of state get up to 8 hrs credit for training.
Restaurant Carry
Parking lots even in prohibited areas.
Still lots of Chicago requested restrictions (parks, gov't buildings, etc) and the stupid $150 fee. Some other concerns are being raised on specifics.
House is in session at 9:30 (currently just milling around). Video. IllinoisCarry thread.
Witness slips for 5&6. I would recommend supporting them. It's the best we'll get.
Liveupdates:
In Executive Committee. The Chicago-crats are going (and I apologize, I don't like using this word but...) full retard in opposition. Gangbangers doing drive by's are going to get CCW licenses so they can smuggle guns, carrying 100rnd magazines 'concealed' and driving around w/ dozens of handguns in your car. Just some of the highpoints of stupidity that have been reached so far.
Some privacy issues are being hashed out by Sen. Righter. The language in the bill is very vague and broadraching. Whether the FOID act covers it and if only mental health (clear and present danger) will be sent.
Joyce Foundation puppet Colleen Daley of the ICHV is bitching because, well, it's concealed carry and the bill doesn't ban more guns. Yet they call us the fanatics.
And Amend 5& 6 passes committee. On to the floor.
In the House SB2335 A2 is identical HB183 A5 and 6 in the Senate so they can get them passed and to the Gov.
Back to the Senate. HB183 is up. Sen Rodadno (anti) looks like someone shot her cat while bill basics are being discussed."Republicans are voting for it, while the dems are running and hiding". The 'cliff' will be their fault if they oppose. There should be 59 green lights. If you vote no, then that word "hypocrisy" that is so often lobbed over to this side of the isle will look very fitting for you all over there."
- Senator Murphy, speaking as a Republican to the Democrats
Kwame- 'Diversity' and drive by shootings means we shouldn't have CCW even though shooters won't get licenses. So why did he bring it up? Oh right, emotional, tear-jerking nonsense.
Lightford- Same crap as ICHV. Pissed there aren't gun/mag bans.
Kotowski, ICHV award winner and liar, reads VPC reports
Passed the Senate:
Yeas. 45 nays 12.
HB1189 requiring private sellers to call into ISP for a background check. Chapin Rose calls them out because it's already taking 5 months for a FOID card.
Kotowski's mag ban is up.HB1346. Dragging out the corpses for emotional effect, even in places where 'high capacity magazines' weren't used.Includes Chicago where mag bans are already in place. "For the Children'. "Screw the gun industry and lobbyists." Kotowski screams. 28-31 fails
Sweet tears.
Back to the house.
Same old nonsense. "Not prohibited to drink while carrying" except the penalties are the same as DUI.
Pass 90-13.

Chicago's CCW 'Cliff Contingency
What Chicago/Cook Cnty is proposing should no bill get passed by June 9th:
May Issue w/ demonstrated need
$300
40 Hours of Training
Details via Illinois Carry.
And from Cook Cnty commissioner Larry Suffredin (hard-core anti) :
May Issue w/ demonstrated need
$300
40 Hours of Training
Details via Illinois Carry.
And from Cook Cnty commissioner Larry Suffredin (hard-core anti) :
There are enough guns in the hands of trained law enforcement and security personnel to insure the safety of our citizens in public settings.Think anyone is going to be able to 'demonstrate need' enough to actually get a license?
And In News Outside of Illinois...
While Cullerton and Madigan are measuring their d!cks to see which carry bill they're going to screw us w/, The CA Senate is trying to ram ammunition registration/fees, semi-auto bans and mag bans up the dark holes of Californistan subjects.
Ammunition purchasers would submit their information and a $50 fee to the state Department of Justice which would maintain a list of qualified buyers that would be checked by ammo stores. Purchasers would have to show their driver's license or other ID at the time they buy bullets....And THAT my friends, is why membership in the ISRA and NRA is so important. CA doesn't have a Todd Vandermyde.
The Senate also approved a bill that would outlaw the sale, purchase and manufacture in California of semiautomatic rifles that can accept detachable magazines. SB 374 also would require those who own such weapons to register them with the state.
Other measures approved by the Senate would ban the possession of ammunition magazines capable of holding more than 10 bullets, and regulate mechanisms, called “bullet buttons,” that allow the quick replacement of ammunition magazines on semiautomatic rifles.

Quote of the Day
While waiting for today's yakety sax from the IL Legislature, I got this comment from an anti on FB who's ability to avoid answering questions and hypocrisy is off the charts:
Update: And after trying to blame us for being 'bullies' again, she runs away.
Roy, look at the photos of groups of gun fans and then look at the groups who rode their bikes to Washington, or the parents of victims and survivors of gun violence events. 'Your group" is full of morbidly obese, chain smoking, lower economic, disenfranchised people who just look plain miserable. Gun lobbying is giving them a target for the anger and despair in their govt. I get it. The groups of people marching for gun responsibility have balanced lives, they don't smoke, they look like they get fresh air, they have support from friends and family and they are smiling. Even though their children and neighbors were murdered, they hug and are kind, and they are less angry and bitter in public forums than "your" group. That is why we will prevail and you'll need to find a different hobby. And when I poke her w/ a stick some more:
There is no hate in these observations, only compassion.Gun control is a mental disorder.
Update: And after trying to blame us for being 'bullies' again, she runs away.

Chicago Murder Update
A few months ago I posted a story about a 6m old girl murdered in Chicago. I made the comment:
The father (Watkins) still claims he had no idea why he was targeted. But then there's this:
Yeah, that little girl had no chance at all. Welcome to Chicago.
Not to be entirely callous, but what would anyone expect to be the end result for this little girl? The parents brought her into their lifestyle of violence and criminal behavior. That's the Chicago way. Here's the update. The caught the alleged shooter. Unsurprisingly he's a lifelong gangbanger w/ a criminal record a mile long.
Koman Willis is facing first degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm charges after he allegedly shot dead baby Jonylah Watkins while aiming for her father, Jonathan Watkins.
The father (Watkins) still claims he had no idea why he was targeted. But then there's this:
Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy said at a Monday press conference that Mr Watkins had earlier robbed Willis, prompting the spray of bullets. So the father is an alleged gangbanger who had just robbed another gangbanger.
Yeah, that little girl had no chance at all. Welcome to Chicago.

IL CCW Games Continue
Update: Senate called to order. The games begin anew.
And nothing happens. From what I've read on IllinoisCarry, it's a pissing contest between Madigan in the House and Cullerton in the Senate. They've got about 80 hrs to pass something before adjournment. Should be entertaining.
Update. Witness slips in opposition 1000+-7. Almost all the proponents are gov't officials.
Update :Exec committee in session. Video here. IllinoisCarry thread here.
Starting out onSB 2193, they dismiss many of the 'opponents' who are normally progun as 'just used to registering opposition'. That's what our 'leaders' think of us ignorant, knuckle-dragging rednecks who might have our own opinion. They've been belittling firearm owners the whole time.
"Except for all the differences, there's not much difference on CCW" ? Yeah. Right.
Todd V. is up. "Have you Mr V... asked any Senators to support or oppose this bill" (badgering) "Only my Senator."
Chairman tries to lead into blaming legal gun owners for criminals getting guns so obviously we need MORE laws. Dumbass. Phelps" They think the system's a joke, they get caught w/ an illegal gun, what is it? Probation?"
"Wild women drinking w/ guns". "A bar owner could sell food at really high prices to get that 50%" I'm not kidding. These are the kinds of stupid comments they're making in opposition.
"Why can't Waukeegan ban guns? "
"If they're breaking municipal ordinances, they're not law abiding gun owners". How the hell are they supposed to know all the various ordinances in dozens of different towns? I could have a 20rnd mag., walk across the street and then be a criminal.
And it just gets stupider. Colleen Daley, ED of the ICHV brings up the VPC 'CCW killers' BS.
Sen Christine Rodagno, Republican LEADER "NRA Cells' in her district;.
8 no 6 aye. 2193 stays in Senate Committee. Now it's going to get interesting.
HB 183 passes 10-4-1 after a quick 'debate' in complete opposition to the will of the people. On to the Senate floor.

From IL Gunlobby:
Call your senator today and tell them to oppose HB183 amend 4The Clusterf&ck continues.
The senate dems met for a 2 hour caucus that devolved into a a shouting match among senators.
The President is refusing to allow Senator Forby to call the house carry bill. Instead they are going to offer an amendment to their bill that takes most of the parts of the House bill but then strips out the safe harbor provisions, any private property can ban firearms on their property all they want. .
They will remove restaurant carry and increase penalties for carrying while intoxicated to a class A misdemeanor.
They will also whittle down the preemption to only apply to carrying. But unclear if that applies to mags, ammunition and other things or not.
We could see an amendment late tonight with a committee hearing in the AM but unsure as these clowns don't seem to be very organized
More as we get it

Dishonest Moms
Remember when convicted embezzler Sheriff Jenne used a fully auto AK in a CNN piece and claimed it was what the '94 AWB covered? And when a Brady endorsed politician edited photos to BB guns into 'scary' guns?
Well the anti-gun group 'Mom's Demand Action' (which still sounds like an adult hookup site) put up this video (comments disabled of course):
Here's their description:
That selector switch is in the full auto position and the setting markings are conveniently blacked out.
The model appears to say XM15-ES2, there's definitely a Bushmaster logo and they're showing the serial #. Now here's a pic of a regular one:
Hmmm. Now I'm no universal expert on AR's but methinks there's some movie magic and just a little bit of dishonesty going on.
So assuming all those are true, we have another case of an anti-gun group deliberately misrepresenting firearms to push a political agenda, using emotion, not facts, to make their case.

Here's their description:
"An AR-15 assault weapon is fired in slow motion with each discharged shell casing representing a major shooting in America."Now carefully watch the video. With all those rounds flying out, there's no finger movement that I can see and almost no recoil. A screencap bring up another question:

Dick Durbin: Only 'Approved' Media Covered By Constitution
Remember those guys in powdered wigs running printing presses out of their homes about 225 years ago? Those guys putting out pamphlets protesting the Gov't? According to US Senator (D-IL) Dick Durbin's 'logic' (and I use the word loosely), those individuals only wrote the 1st Amendment to cover 'Authorized Journalists', those vetted and approved by the Gov't.
This is the modern statist in action.
“But here is the bottom line – the media shield law, which I am prepared to support, and I know Sen. Graham supports, still leaves an unanswered question, which I have raised many times: What is a journalist today in 2013?Yes Dick, they are. For the very reason that the Founding Fathers wrote the 1st Amendment in the first place. I've been writing this blog for over 5 years now. Political commentary, research, statistics, live coverage of events, the works. Guess what skippy... I AM a 'journalist'. I just didn't get a degree in it nor am I paid, yet my readership is increasing, unlike the 'traditional media' you want to 'shield'.
We know it’s someone that works for Fox or AP, but does it include a blogger? Does it include someone who is tweeting? Are these people journalists and entitled to constitutional protection. We need to ask 21st century questions about a provision that was written over 200 years ago.”
This is the modern statist in action.
