The subjects march against violence

In Mexico, the disarmed populace expect the notoriously corrupt and violent government to protect them from violence and corruption:

Holding candles and dressed in white, demonstrators on the capital's Paseo de la Reforma main street carried posters and pictures of kidnap victims and signs saying, "Enough Is Enough."

I'm sure President Calderon will get right on that.

Reading between the lines...

From the latest Brady Campaign E-mail:

Our winning strategy this year will be to focus on targeted electoral campaigns. By strategically directing our energy, efforts, and resources on the races where we can have the greatest impact, your generous contribution today will help us seize this chance to put our stamp on the 2008 elections.
Translation: We have so few resources available we can only focus on the races we know we can win and that have an NRA endorsed candidate in opposition. This way we can tout we had lots of victories in 'endorsed' campaigns while ignoring the trouncing of our ideology elsewhere. Just like we did in 2006.

Barack "Lili Marlene" Obama accepts the worship of the masses

The 'Liberal" Voices of Huffpo on Palin

wow!... what a great republican ticket!... I can just imagine that moment when the phone rings at 3am, and the 72y old president is having a stroke ( or a MI)), while the vp is popping out another baby (btw, can someone tell her that this planet is already overpopulated?!)

A direct insult to women.

Republicans "Don't Get It".....

and this choice just proved it. Condescending, sexist choice.

Just wow.

I do like the title though. "Sarah Palin: Dems Pounce On McCain Pick". It goes well w/ this website:

Palin as VP pick for McCain

A good strategic choice. She's much more conservative than he is so that will draw some back in as well as helping w/ the women's vote.

On gun control:

I am a lifetime member of the NRA, I support our Constitutional right to bear arms and am a proponent of gun safety programs for Alaska's youth.

Not to detailed but AK is a "No CCW License Required" state. Bruce has more. Robb is selling Bumper Stickers.

Now I don't have to hold my nose quite as tight when I check the box.

I'm swaying..

Not from a conversion to worshipping the Lightbringer, but instead from trying not to pass out from the stench of his speech.

As he once again says the people in the inner-city are unable to control themselves in comparison to "rural folk, he, as a former Joyce Foundation board member, shows that Josh Sugarmann was right.
The — the reality of gun ownership may be different for hunters in rural Ohio than they are for those plagued by gang violence in Cleveland, but don’t tell me we can’t uphold the Second Amendment while keeping AK-47s out of the hands of criminals.

But we all know he's not talking about Select Fire AK-47's as used by militaries and terrorists world-wide. He's talking about semi-auto clones like the WASR's or SAR's.

But what should we expect from a "Professor of Constitutional Law" who believes the Bill of Rights 'creates' rights.

And then there were 85

Counties, that is, in Illinois that have passed the Pro-Second Amendment resolution with the additions of Rock Island and Boone Counties this month.

Support the troops..

Raise their taxes while they're deployed and block their appeals.

The Illinois Property Tax Appeal Board told Urso it needed a final decision from the Will County Board of Review before it can act.

"I'm in a Catch 22. I can't appeal to the state level without appealing to the county level, and the county won't let me appeal," Urso said.

Morton Grove, IL adopts state firearm laws..

So much for the LCAV et al. attempts at DC style restrictions in that suburb.

Fairfax, VA- Today, the Village of Morton Grove agreed to a stipulated dismissal of a National Rifle Association lawsuit challenging the village’s gun ban. A new town ordinance recognizes the right to private handgun ownership, bringing an end to NRA’s lawsuit against the village. Morton Grove completely dismissed its ordinance banning handguns and agreed to not replace it with any direct regulation other than to adopt existing state laws.

Improving International Opinion of Chicago

isn't going so well.

The Ugandan children's choir members who were burglarized before a Chicago concert Sunday were on their way out of town Wednesday, after discovering another theft suffered sometime during their stay.
Great job on controlling crime Mayor Daley. I'm sure the IOC is watching.

NY Post PSH

It's "terrifying" the nonsense that passes for news.

"Authorities recovered a terrifying arsenal that could have been used in a shocking attack: a Remington 270 sniper rife, a Ruger 22-250 sniper rifle, boxes of Remington and Winchester ammo, two-way radios, bulletproof vests, camouflage and wigs."

Yep. Those VPC "Intermediate Sniper Rifles" again.

College Survival Guide

I was originally going to make a joke about Armor Plated Laptops and Bullet Proof Backpacks but I decided to give some credit where it is due.

Apparently some colleges have decided that locking your doors and doing the SniVeL aren't the best ways for students to survive a shooting. While still not allowing firearms, they're teaching students to fight back using "improvised weapons" against attackers.

It's a step. A small step but still a step. This is how CCW got started.

Militarize the border..

The Cartels are going to expand their influence:

Police: Mexican Cartels Give OK to Hit U.S. Targets

And how many dead will it take before the Gov't actually does something? We know the Mexican authorities won't do anything except line their pockets.

I'ld be ashamed to show my face too.

Meet "Dangerman".

Restraining orders and calling 911

The first is useless especially if your neighbors don't bother calling the police when you're screaming for help while being stabbed.

New York - Investigators say neighbors waited more than a half hour to call police after hearing a woman's screams for help as she was being stabbed to death at a New York City apartment.

Police found 21-year-old Ebony Garcia lying in a pool of blood at about 2:10 a.m Saturday. She was stabbed about a dozen times and died two hours later at a local hospital.

Witnesses say neighbors ignored the woman's screams for more than 30 minutes before someone called the police. One neighbor says she ignored the cries because she thought the victim had been drinking.

Police want to question Garcia's boyfriend. She had obtained a restraining order against him.

Chicago Roundup..

Since Bryan Miller, Paul Helmke, et al. say guns 'cause' crime. I now see where our Blackwater cohorts REALLY went this weekend*:

Couple shot; 5 others wounded in Englewood violence

Girl, 8, shot while playing on West Side porch

2 teens shot in South Shore

1 dead, 1 wounded in W. Side shooting

Elderly Man Found Shot to Death

Gas Station Owner Killed On N.W. Side

None of them must have been pedal-by shootings. Otherwise the CPD would have been all over them in their efforts to reduce bicycle crime.

*That would be a joke, son.
