The Next Generation of Gun Banners
Colin Goddard, VT survivor, has decided to take his victimization to the next level. Instead of just allowing himself to be defenseless, he is now Asst. Director of Legislation for the Brady Campaign. Dedicated to ensuring as many others are as defenseless against psychopaths as he was.
No mention in the article of course that said psycho jumped through all the proposed hoops, multiple background checks, waiting periods, etc.
Never let a good tragedy go unexploited for cheap political gain, right?
Since few people remember (or care) who Jim Brady is, are they going to rename their group (known long ago as Handgun Control Inc.) to the Goddard Campaign?
Note: Kaveman reminded me he expected something like this.

Taking Responsibility
East St. Louis is the rotten crotch of Illinois.
Their gov't is incompetent, their police has been gutted to a skeleton force and those that are left either incapable or unwilling to deal w/ the rampant crime making the city one of the worst places in the state to live outside of certain neighborhoods in Chicago (who face the exact same problems).
John R. and Kurt H. have both written posts showing that the people have had enough and are taking measures into their own hands.
Were they to listen to the Mayor (and others like him) however as well as Josh Sugarmann of the VPC, they would be told they would be better off relying on the police since they might hurt themselves if they pick up a gun.

We've Seen This Pattern Before
Japete, AKA BC/Joyce Boardmember Joan Peterson, seems to be following in the footsteps of the old BC blog and Robyn Ringler.
Step 1) Start blog to push gun control.
Step 2) Get surprised by the fact pro-rights individuals outnumber PuSH'ers.
Step 3) Start randomly 'moderating' comments.
Step 4) Complain about threats and harassment.
Step 5) 'Reasoned Discourse'.
Now all we need to do is set up the pool to see how long it takes.
UPDATE: She's being 'advised' to delete some of her previous statements and to not engage us.
Won't be long now folks.

More Anti-Gun Math: More Equals Less
As much as she states she's not writing as an official spokesthing for the Brady Bunch or Joyce Foundation, Joan Peterson is still a board member of both organizations.
A recent pearl of 'wisdom':
Illinois recoveries: 3,555
Indiana recoveries: 1020
Missouri recoveries: 136
Hmm. Indiana actually scored HIGHER on the Brady Ranking than Missouri as does Wisconsin which accounted for 236 recoveries.
It sure looks like vicinity to Chicago correlates more to crime recoveries than 'strong' firearm laws.
So just like they lie when trying to pass stricter laws in Illinois, they'll lie about Illinois when trying to pass national laws.
A recent pearl of 'wisdom':
This is why we need a national law to require background checks on all gun sales at gun shows so that a state with looser laws doesn't end up providing the guns to people in a state with stronger laws. Indiana, for example, or Missouri, do not have nearly the strict laws as Illinois.OK. Let's take a look at the BATFE numbers for 2009. Remember that Illinois has closed the 'gun show loophole' and has full firearm licensing.

46% = a 'Strong Mandate'?
Il Gov. Quinn, who won the election by less than 1/2 of a percent and less than half the voting population, considers his win a 'strong mandate' to screw us on tax increases.
Seriously, what world is this man living in?
You know what? I hope he gets his tax hike.
Why?
Because then everyone who voted for him to 'save the children' can watch that money be squandered just like the rest of the money the state gouges from the people as they drive us deeper into debt.
And yeah, I'll say "I told you so".
