Chicago Headlines

Law enforcement touts Crime Gun Intelligence Center in Chicago
The alcove in the Chicago office of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has been turned into a regional gun crime hub, a place where officials from several agencies said Thursday that they hope to work together more closely to accelerate investigations and link crimes to one another.
 That's nice.

Students hope march will bring peace to Chicago streets

Hoping to succeed where legions before have made little impact, some 2,000 high school students from Perspectives Charter Schools, with campuses on the South Side and in the South Loop, took to the streets Thursday to push for an end to the city’s gun violence.
Again, that's nice.  Here's the problem w/ this though... It doesn't actually do anything.  If they want to 'end the violence', they also need to end 'stop snitchin'.  How many of their 'friends' and family members are violent gang bangers?  How many know where the 'community guns' are hidden and who's doing the local drug deals?  And how many marchers were also involved in this:
Chicago's downtown areas in recent years have been plagued with incidents of "wildings," in which groups of teens intimidate pedestrians and, at times, assault and rob them.

McCarthy said there were "five or six" mob-type incidents last weekend.
And those are the 'safe' areas of Chicago.  So all those 'Intelligence Centers' are doing is shifting violence to formerly lower crime areas.

But just to give a completely clear picture on why Chicago is in so much trouble:
Any questions?

Some Love From @SJGames

Steve Jackson put out an update on the status of the various sponsored counters.  Here's what he had to say about the Nihon:NAD sheets:
One sheet with support material, sponsored by Roy (Thirdpower) Kubicek. These became available on time and are still available; orders are shipping promptly. In other words, Roy was an example of what we naively thought all sponsors would be.
I was one guy w/ a folding table, laptop and printer and I busted my butt for a month and a half to get the pre-orders and release surge orders out. Ran into one major hurdle w/ the USPS that stopped me for a while but I had them all out in what I thought was a decent amount of time.

More thanks go to SJ and the crew at SJ Games and all the advice and support I got from gamers and gunnies alike.

Low Information Voters Defined

Over 287,000 people in CA voted for Leland Yee, indicted for money laundering and gun trafficking.

I bet most of those people strongly support gun control as well.

At Least They Admit It

The limit will do little but to symbolize that goal. But that's got to be enough for now.

He's talking about a 1gun/month limit being 'enough' for people. They don't 'need' more.
Why would a law-abiding citizen need to buy more than a gun a month — or need to own more than a few guns total — to exercise his or her constitutional right to self-protection?
Yet he would be one of the first to squeal like a stuck pig if his column were limited by law to one/month. I could make a pretty strong argument that that would be better for society than his proposals.

WOOT!! Goin' to GenCon

Just got this in:
Your press application has been accepted for Gen Con, and a Press Badge has been added to your account.
Now I need to find a place to stay. I won't be able to do the whole convention but Fri-Sun are going to be geek-nirvana.

For my non-gaming Gunnie readers, GenCon is a huge gaming/anime/sci-fi/etc convention held annually in Indianapolis w/ attendance in the tens of thousands.

Just Another Weekend in Chi-Town

Seven people were killed and at least 23 others were wounded in separate shootings across the city between Friday evening and Sunday night.
But remember, Chicago has spent millions of tax dollars fighting tooth and nail to keep people from legally owning and carrying firearms.

Good thing they didn't spend that money on catching/prosecuting criminals eh?
