Whose fault is it King Dick?
Since the beginning of the year through March, 70 percent of the murder victims had prior arrest records and 97 percent of the offenders had prior arrest records, according to police. Approximately 81 percent of the murders involved (illegal) firearms, with the most common motive being something gang-related. Almost 30 percent of the murders were gang-related, the release said.
So instead of the CPS actually doing something, Daley thinks it's more effective to use tax dollars to bus school kids (w/ a 51% graduation rate) and Aldermen to Springfield to lobby for more anti-gun laws. Of course in their (partial) defense, were they to go out on the streets and start arresting gang-bangers, Jackson and Sharpton would be there in a heartbeat beating the drums or racism.

Sorich goes to prison Monday
Two men convicted in an an illegal City Hall patronage hiring scheme under Mayor Daley are expected to report to prison Monday morning.
And gangbangers, gangbangers, gangbangers galore in this "handgun free" city.
But remember, it has everything to do w/ rural white men driving pickup trucks full of guns to the city and handing them out and nothing to do w/ a 51% graduation rate, "stop snitchin'" advocates, the glorification of violence, and corrupt authorities.

By now regardless if you live in Pennsylvania or not, if you are a gun owner you have been “snubbed”. Going through the news I find if humorous that depending on the source you will see 180 degree difference. One saying the “Po folks in PA.” were not bothered by the remark, and other outraged, which is it?

To a point, I really do sympathize with gun-rights advocates...
but..
Past a certain point, though, my sympathy evaporates.
enter his true feelings:
That point is where gun-rights advocates respond to proposals to try to limit the number of freely circulating firearms with aggrieved paranoia, a hyper-literal interpretation of the Constitution and a fusillade of clichés evincing an air of indifference to how often guns are used to ventilate the innocent.
By defeating :
Basic idea: Require background checks for private sales of handguns
The "basic idea" requiring all handgun sales to go through FFL dealers who Daley et al are trying to sue and legislate out of existence.
I will nevertheless continue to extend my sympathies to gun-rights activists. All I'll ask in return is something more helpful than their old slogans and reflexive stubbornness.
Then obviously you're not doing much research into the matter beyond what your other Trib buddies and the Brady Bunch are telling you.

Hillary & Obama on Guns
Hillary: I support Federal laws to ban "Assault Weapons" and allow fishing expeditions on trace data but I don't think there should be any sweeping federal laws and locals should determine their own laws. But I don't know enough about DC where I've lived for years to answer.
Obama: We need to allow fishing expeditions on trace data and even though I've said it was constitutional before, I'm going to play the stupid game too and deny I ever said I'ld ban handguns even though my handwriting was on the report but I'll claim it's a different one.
Overall I give the debate to Obama. He got in to many good jabs against her and countered most of hers against him. Her primary defense was "I'm older and more experienced". I doubt that will garner her any points to the PA citizens. She basically told that one guy about the sniper episode "I lied, get over it".
My opinion? She's shot her chance at taking PA decisively but will stay in the race till near the end. Unless something upsets the apple cart in the next month, Obama will take the DNC convention.

Bill Forces States To Accept Concealed Gun Permits
Running Commentary on IL Private Handgun Sale Bill
The main issue is that it's illegal to sell, buy, or possess a firearm in Illinois w/o a FOID card. A background check is required to get a FOID and the ISP are supposed to take said card if you become ineligible through crime, mental instability, etc. Mandating sales through FFL dealers only makes sales more difficult as Daley, as a MAIG member, the Brady Bunch, Joyce Foundation, et al are committed to suing as many FFL dealers as they can out of business.
So by passing this, the legislation is stating they have no confidence in the ISP to perform their job. And of course the debate is conveniently on the same day as the VT anniversary and when numerous Chicago Aldermen are lobbying the legislature. Nope, no chicanery there.
Update: FAILED. 58 to 58.
Every call and letter counts.
IL Gov calls for Psych exams for Firearm Owners
As he continues to blame millions of firearm owners for the actions of a few deranged individuals. Of course those "few" also include CPS officers and gang bangers.
Perhaps he should call for exams of all Chicago residents.
While at the same time, the Brady Bunch are trying to revitalize themselves by bathing in the blood of the VT victims by using the families and survivors to push for bills that had nothing to do w/ how Cho got his guns. Besides the fact that they continue to lie and try and take credit for passing the NICS improvement act:
This past year, we worked with Virginia Tech victims and their families, as well as our Congressional allies, to strengthen the Brady background check system
These people are getting even more pathetic by the day.

Tom called it...
TRUTH!? WE DO'N NEED NO STINKIN' TRUTH!!
From their website:
ICHV Comment: It is problematic to have some gun sales that are subject to background checks and some that are not subject to background checks. This issue is most prevalent in relation to gun shows, where there is a mixture of both licensed and non-licensed gun sellers. The non-licensed sellers are not required to perform criminal background checks on gun purchasers, and are therefore much more attractive to criminals and ex-felons seeking an easy way to buy firearms and accessories while skirting a background check.
This, however, has not been true since 2005. Not like the facts matter to them though.

NRA V. Nutter
Fairfax, VA-Today in Pennsylvania court, the National Rifle Association (NRA) filed for a temporary restraining order blocking the City of Philadelphia from enforcing recently enacted gun control measures. Pennsylvania’s state preemption law maintains uniformity over a statewide system of gun laws by barring municipalities from enacting gun control laws that are more restrictive than those passed by the state legislature. NRA is joined in this effort by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) and local citizens of Philadelphia.
Last week, Philadelphia’s city council passed a package of gun control bills that were clearly preempted by state law. Mayor Michael Nutter, in a brazen act of lawlessness, signed the bills. District Attorney Lynne Abraham warned the city council and mayor that their taxpayer-funded folly was unconstitutional.
“Apparently, Philadelphia politicians believe they can circumvent the will of the Pennsylvania legislature,” said Chris W. Cox, NRA’s chief lobbyist. “This is the third time the City of Philadelphia has tried to thwart state law by passing its own gun control restrictions. First it tried suing the state legislature, then it tried strong-arming the state legislature, and now it has decided to ignore state law altogether. Despite what it seems to believe, the City of Philadelphia is not above the law.”
Mayor Nutter obviously feels he is in the same legal category as the Big Music Producer

Get the popcorn. This is going to be a hell of a show.
Peter Hamm'ing it up...
Peter Hamm, a spokesman for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence said his organization is not anti-gun, but it opposes the bill because of its impact on states.
"There are already too many states that have too weak a system of approving people for concealed-carry permits," Hamm said. "I don't think the majority of states want to rely on the systems of other states to let someone carry a loaded, concealed handgun across state borders."
For instance, Florida's standards are so low that some death-row inmates there have permits, he said.
I'ld love for some corroboration on that one being that one becomes ineligible for numerous offenses. In order for it to be true, that means the "Only Ones" are failing to enforce the laws.
This is in response to a new federal bill w/ 33 co-sponsors making universal reciprocity for state issued CCW. Call your Reps to sign on along w. HR 4900 if they haven't already.
Ten to One against..
From the IllinoisCarry Forum:
I just got back from the Naperville/NIU event and it was the single most lopsided forum I have ever witnessed. There were about 150 in the audience and 4 ICPGV presenters. Without exaggeration, my best guess would be that of the approx 150 in the audience there might have been less than 5 anti's with most of the remainder outwardly pro 2A. The panel took a real beating at the end of their presentation when no fewer than 20 pro2As stood at the microphone for the next 1/2 hour and gave the panel a real tongue lashing. This included the president of the ISRA who made a few "retaliatory verbal" trips to the mic to counter the blatant lies of the ICPGV.
The President would be Richard Pearson. I couldn't make it to the event but I just sent a nice check to the ISRA for their work. This is the way we need to do it people. Let's keep it up.
CPGV representative Steve Young had this to say:
The whole idea was education,” said ICPGV representative Steve Young, speaking one-on-one. “These are single-issue voters, and we heard from some pretty radical people tonight. These people make our case for us; all they have to do is show who they are,” Young said, referring to the protesters.
No, the whole idea was to push propaganda for a political agenda that is financed by national anti-gun groups in an area that has just experienced a horrible tragedy. Since Mr. Young was so upset that more people don't support his agenda, he has to resort to ad hominem personal attacks and emotional appeals to make his case.
Armed and Safe has more.

Walmart to film and register gun sales.
Wal-Mart to film gun sales in bid to fight crime
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc, the world's largest retailer, unveiled plans on Monday to film its gun sales in the United States and create a computerized log of purchases in a bid to stop guns falling into the wrong hands.Of course this was encouraged by MAIG so I suspect Bloomie is hoping for this kind of reaction to reduce sales and encourage WallyWorld to reduce their inventory even more hence less places to buy.
Wal-Mart, the world's largest retailer, had previously tried to establish a store in New York City but failed.
Who wants to bet that they'll be opening stores in NYC soon?
Tip to SIH
Giving the kids a day off...
As these are now going to start occurring all over the US, the balancing act between being properly cautious and overly hysterical begins. How many days a week are the schools going to allow themselves to be closed for "potential" threats that turn out to be pranks before the students, parents, and administrators start ignoring them?
Illinois 2-'fer..
Part I:
It turns out the Illinois State Police (ISP) are refusing FOIA requests on Steven Kazmierczak, the NIU shooter's FOID card including refusing to answer any questions on it even after the AG's office recommended the information be released.
Now this could be just a case of the ISP following standard procedure as FOID information is normally kept confidential or this could be a CYOA move in that Kaz.. did not need to check the mental health box in that his incarceration was past five years ( the requirement for a FOID) but we all know how well the media is on reporting facts when they want a spin on a story.
Part II:
Now will this lead to the media demanding access to FOID information and attempting to publish lists of holders similar to the attempts to publish CCW lists? I have no doubt. The anti's like Dan Kotowski have repeatedly shown that they'll do anything to push their agenda so what is a little privacy violation to them?
