Chicago Celebrates ICHV Day

So amidst a collapsing economy and a failing campaign, IL Gov. Quinn decided to take time out of his schedule to dedicate a 'day' to a 'grassroots' organization funded exclusively by billionaire philanthropists dedicated to stripping people of their civil rights and hurt the IL economy even further.

Quinn supporters and gun control activists in Chicago poured out into the streets for spontaneous celebrations:

 A 52-year-old man was killed and 6 others wounded overnight in Englewood and Lawndale shootings, according to authorities.

 They certainly do like to go around handing awards to eachother, don't they?

90% & Ferguson

Anti's like to throw out the '90%' number from polls claiming support for 'Universal Background Checks'.  Here's another 90% number, one based on evidence.  90% (give or take) of African-Americans are killed by other African-Americans.  In Chicago, it's mostly by gang-bangers and/or drug related.

In Florida, an AA teen was shot by a hispanic and the nation went wild.

In Ferguson, MO, an AA teen was shot why a caucasian cop (circumstances unclear yet) and the nation went wild. Looting, busing in protestors/activists, etc. 

Yet in Chicago, a 9yr old boy ( and he isn't the first) is shot in what seems to be some sort of gang retaliation:

The boy was in a backyard near train tracks when he was shot in the chest, hands and arms

While there might be some sort of vigil, I have these questions to ask:

Where is the NBPP escorting AA students to and from schools through gang territory and threatening gang bangers w/ death like they are Ferguson police?

Where is Al Sharpton or Jessie Jackson and their bands of merry misfits leading marches through the streets and turning in every gang banger/drug dealer they find? 

Dozens of more AA' have been shot in Chicago alone since the Ferguson shooting yet we don't hear a peep from them about that. 

Instead they're running around threatening peaceful protestors and blaming everyone else for the problems. 

Illinois' CCW 'Review Board' Efficiency

Chicago-crats demanded and got a kangaroo court 'review board' so they could deny as many CCW licenses as possible to those they deem 'dangerous', like a military vet w/ no criminal/mental background at all.

But now a CCW holder in Chicago has been "charged with home invasion, aggravated discharge of a firearm and residential burglary" which is making the anti's hop up and down yelling 'WE TOLD YOU SO!!!!".

Thing about that though,... he has a violent criminal background but was NOT subject to denial or review. 

In 2012, Whirl pleaded guilty to resisting a police officer, a misdemeanor, and was sentenced to 12 months court supervision which he successfully completed and was ordered to pay a $199 fine.

So was this due to incompetence or intentional?  Did the County PD screw up, allowing a violent criminal a license or did they deliberately allow it in the hopes of trying to get negative publicity for license holders? 

Those are the only two options.

OAKLAND - Coles County Sheriff's Deputies, Detectives, and Charleston police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at Oakland National Bank Tuesday afternoon.

Neighboring town it is.

So the Coalition to Stop Gun Ownership posts an article supporting the New Black Panther Party threatening pro-rights activists while carrying 'Assault Rifles'.

" Must-watch video. The residents of Houston's 5th Ward have made it clear to Open Carry Texas that they do not want them coming into their community on Saturday."

This is apparently a perfectly acceptable form of counter protest:

Members of the group were met by a chorus of voices telling them to stay out of the neighborhood and warned they will be “matched gun-for-gun.”
“I’m going to tell you something homie, this is Fifth Ward, you ain’t coming in here running nothing,” community activist Quanell X said while flanked by members of the New Black Panther Party, who were holding assault rifles

But an owner of a store protecting his property against violent rioters w/ those exact same types of guns?

 This owner (if he indeed is an owner) of Sam's Meat Market in Ferguson Missouri has seen one too many Arnold Schwarzenegger films.

And somehow it's the NRA's fault for the rioting:

Coalition to Stop Gun Violence Yes, including the police. We are all at risk with America's current gun policy.

So they call on the Governor: (read the rest, it's a really sad attempt at trying to continue their gun hate)

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon must also step forward and address a dangerous and escalating situation.

But have no comment yet on his calling out of the National Guard and the resulting insurrectionist attacks on the Governor's office:



They are really struggling hard to try and stay on the "Hate the NRA message" while maintaining their 'All Big Government All The Time" beliefs.

• Don't get out of the car. Ever. Indianapolis Metro Police Deptarment be damned, if you get out of the car, the media will run half-truths, the community will riot, the brass will turn their backs and the politicians will run the bus over you, again and again and again in a constant loop.

In the urban centers, police work is done and the Law of the Jungle prevails. Protect yourself and your job. We never thought we'd have to type that.

So any questions on who to rely on in an emergency? 

#GenCon2014 Day 3: Last Sweep

Vegged out last night watching some videos w/ roommates and creating a new Dark Dungeon convert. I had to go and buy him a copy while he played in a Malifaux  Relic Knights tournament.

During my last sweep, I stopped by the 'Valyrian Steel' booth and tried on their prototype 'Unsullied' Helmet from GoT.

But I saw a 'It Must Be Mine'. A set of 'Dragonglass' dagger & arrow head reproductions from the 'Nights Watch' along w/ the Lord Commander's Order and a CoA signed by GRRM.

A few other odds and ends I picked up for fun.

An inflatable 20 sider from Crystal Caste.

A signed print of a 'Great Woolly Dragon" from Palladium FRPG.

And a T-shirt from my friends at Off World Designs.

A few goodbyes then it was the drive home to reality.  Uneventful outside of missing a turn and taking a slightly alternate route.

The convention itself is somewhat overwhelming.  There are dozens, if not hundreds, of events, both scheduled and impromtu, going on at all hours of the day. table-top, movies, conferences, sales, LARP, mini's, interactive, you name it.  I didn't do any of the competitions or tournaments but am thinking of doing some next year.
