DGU in Chicago

An individual carrying a handgun successfully defended himself against an armed robber in Chicago. The robber 'got the drop on him' yet the victim was able to shoot and kill him anyway.

Unfortunately this is not typical.

It's not typical in that this individual was an off duty police officer, the only ones allowed to legally possess and carry firearms in the city of Chicago. Had this been anyone else, they would have been at the mercy of the mugger.

48 other states have Concealed Carry in some form or another for 'regular' citizens. What makes the citizens subjects of Illinois less deserving?

Barack "I have lots of tax payer funded security" Obama thinks that ONLY police officers and other figures in authority should have the right to defend themselves nationwide.

Righteous Shooting

Felon robs store. Clerk shoots him while he's trying to get away so he'll probably be charged w/ something. As usual, the robber is a longtime petty criminal who was working on becoming MORE violent but was "reaching out to find his path in life." He was, but not in any legitimate field.

The Mayor gets it:

"Any time you point a gun at me and if I've got a gun and I've got the opportunity, I'm going to use it on you," Waukegan Mayor Richard Hyde said. "With society the way it is now and with the number of armed robberies you have, you've got to fight back."

Law Abiding Gun Owner

Homeowner wounds would-be burglar

Fulton County police said they will consult with the district attorneys office before deciding on whether to charge a homeowner who shot and wounded a teenager charged with breaking into his townhouse Saturday evening.

The Brady Campaign not only thinks that this homeowner should have relied on the authorities who weren't there but should also have to go through the trauma of being held and charged to prove he didn't commit a crime defending his home.

That is their definition of "reasonable, common-sense" legislation.

They want scrap metal?

Give them scrap metal.

'Vigilante' gets revenge on metal shop thieves

VIENNA, Maine - The owner of a machine shop where thieves stole $3,000 worth of scrap steel, iron and aluminum wasn't going to let it happen again. After Saturday night's theft, Joseph Lord loaded his shotgun and laid low, expecting the thieves to return. They came back on Tuesday, in broad daylight.

When Lord saw their 2008 F-250 pickup truck, he shot out its tires and windshield and blasted its radiator, Kennebec County Sheriff Randall Liberty said.

The startled thieves took off on foot, but investigators quickly tracked down the truck's operator, who will be charged with theft, Liberty said. Charges are pending against an accomplice, the sheriff said.

Good. Unfortunately:

Liberty said he discourages the use of guns to protect property.

"I can understand the frustration that Mr. Lord must have been experiencing," Liberty said. But, he added, "We don't want to see anyone get hurt over property."

So when they show up in the middle of the day, knowing people would be there, the Sheriff guarantees they won't hurt anybody? Whose life is he willing to stake on it?

Righteous Stabbing

Two teens stabbed, one fatally, on S. Side

Two male teenagers were stabbed, one fatally, possibly during an attempted mugging late Monday, police said. A 53-year-old man is in police custody, but will probably be released.

The stabbings occurred about 11:55 p.m. at 7354 S. Stony Island Ave., according to police News Affairs reports.

The 16-year-old and an 18-year-old were drinking on the street when they grabbed a 53-year-old man. The man attempted to walk away but was pulled back by the teens, at which time the man began stabbing them, according to a report from the police First Deputy Superintendent’s office.

So two teens out drinking on the streets at midnight attack a guy and get stabbed. I bet they were both "good boys". And yet Daley and Blago think that it's guns that are causing the problems.

Police: Woman Shoots Stalker To Death After Break-In

An accused stalker was shot to death Monday night by the object of his obsession after he broke into her Hessville home, police told the Northwest Indiana Times.Hammond resident Ryan Lee Bergner, 41, was pronounced dead from gunshot wounds to his abdomen shortly after 10:30 p.m. at a local hospital.According to the Times, Bergner went on a date with the 51-year-old woman last June, and his behavior became obsessive, offensive and violent...

And she should have relied on the police to protect her even though:

Bergner had not been charged in any of the half-dozen previous complaints made against him.

Remember, the Brady Bunch and their allies think it would be better had she been completely defenseless with their "reasonable restrictions" like complete handgun bans.
