I usually don't put out the camera in the middle of summer because the grass is too high but I got bored and wanted to see what's been out there.
Faun w/ spots .
Same faun. No momma was seen.
A young 'spike'
Morning mist.
And of course the clearest shot was the one of me walking to pick up the card.
I put out some food/bait while I was out there so hopefully there should be some more interesting pics next weekend.

Showing Bias
It's always entertaining when people who are trying to sound rational show their inherent PSH and bigotry towards anything firearms and/or the NRA (two separate entities even if Anti's don't like to accept that). Awhile back even the head of FactCheck played into this w/ some NRA hate while not actually checking the facts.
An article titled "Group questions NRA grant" has this quote:
And another article, "Well-intentioned small step to limit guns gets no help", talks about the recent attempt by the BATFE to enact multiple long gun reporting. No mention of 'Fast and Furious' or the fact they do not have the legal authority to do so. No and the author shows his irrational bias plainly w/ this:
This is what we're up against. Steel traps rusted shut.
An article titled "Group questions NRA grant" has this quote:
It is a particular special interest group that has a special interest not in public safety but for arming people,"So right there she shows that she's not interested in 'good government' but in attacking a group she doesn't like. There is nothing the NRA could do that she would accept as positive.

No mention of 'Fast and Furious' or the fact they do not have the legal authority to do so. No and the author shows his irrational bias plainly w/ this:
That's old but sorry news for all of us who believe our public safety requires judicious gun-control reforms, especially surrounding the availability of military-style assault weapons that have no legitimate hobby or hunting use.'Judicious' like DC or Chicago. And 'no legitimate hobby or hunting use' is his preconceived opinion w/ no bearing in fact or reality. Just like above, no actual evidence of 'hobby or hunting use' will convince him because he's biased and he needs to keep his mind shut for his own sense of self worth.
This is what we're up against. Steel traps rusted shut.

Some Ruger Range Time
The niece came down for a few days and outside of teaching her how to drive the 4-wheeler and practicing her driving, I also took her out to pop off a few rounds from the 10/22.
2nd time shooting, 25m, iron sites and no sling support. She was getting it on target. Good enough. I of course had to expend some ammo as well.

Bryan Miller's Return?
David Codrea finds a profile for a troll by the name of 'BantheNRA' who frequently posts the usual fanatical rantings and ravings of gun control advocates. The photo is of Bryan Miller, exec of the effectively defunct 'Ceasefire NJ'. Some comments left on blogs had an IP from New Jersey and the profile link goes to Bryan's current 'group'.

My New Bare-Bones Ruger 10/22
My sister decided I needed a new gun this year so I decided on a Ruger 10/22 carbine. It's bare bones. No sling, no scope, factory wood stock. And I love it.
Took it out and popped off a few rounds out of the extra 30rnd mag I picked up and it fired like a dream. To fill it out, I ordered a weaver style scope mount, a set of swivels and 1907 style leather sling. So what's the preferred type of (relatively inexpensive) scopes for a 10/22?

Lexicon Additions
Cop-Killer Bullet: Term used by gun control advocates to demonize any type of ammunition they determine is too dangerous for civilians to own. Often used side by side w/ 'Teflon Coated' which has no effect on penetration. Coined by NBC in 1982.
Plastic Guns: Myth created by gun control advocates and the media that Glock was manufacturing firearms made entirely out of plastic for the express purpose of evading metal detectors. A law was even passed in 1988 banning them (and attempted renewal in 2003 by the 'usual suspects') even though no such firearm exists.

Farts in the Wind
Using fears created by the media to try and ban/restrict guns is nothing new for gun control advocates. The current ones are 'terrorist loopholes' and 'gun show loopholes'.
Back in the 80's, one of the ones were 'plastic guns'. The media went around proclaiming that Glock was manufacturing handguns made entirely out of plastic for the sole purpose of evading detection. Anyone w/ a clue knows this is nonsense so of course congress had to pass a law against this non-existent threat in 1988 (and was renewed by Clinton in 1998).
Well in 2003, this 'reasonable, common-sense' law was due to sunset again so the usual suspects introduced another renewal. The VPC thought this was the greatest thing since sliced bread since they could use it to renew the fear of this ghost gun:
With all the claims by Josh Sugarmann et al. that the 'gun industry' is determined to make their fortunes over the bodies of dead children by arming terrorists, you'ld think that they'ld have dusted off those old plans that they were 'on the verge of manufacturing' within days of the ban expiring.
Or the VPC et al were full of sh!t. Which is more likely?

the gun industry was on the verge of manufacturing handguns that could evade airport security equipment.Doubtful.
If Congress fails to renew the ban, air travelers will face the threat of being held hostage to a new generation of undetectable handguns. In the name of "homeland security,"That was 2003. Eight years later the ban was not renewed and not a single 'undetectable handgun' has been produced. Not a single 'air traveler' has faced this 'threat'.
