Over-analyzing

A recent question was asked:

Whose administration do you think was better for gun owners: Bill Clinton's, or George W. Bush's?

Billery's overreaching attacks on the 2A led to a resurgence of the pro-rights movement resulting in sweeping elections, dozens of states passing CCW, increase in memberships of multiple groups, etc.

OTOH:

Bush's appointments to the SCOTUS got us the decision in Heller.

But on the OTHER hand (Yes, I'm a fan of Fiddler on the Roof):

Had the resurgence not occurred and Gore following blindly in the anti-gun footsteps of El Cigarro, Gore could possibly have won and given us several more SCOTUS judges who believe the US needs to be based on international standards.

So, IMTO, Hillary and her wife were better for gun owners. Will another resurgence occur if/when we get another similar situation? Who can tell. We have a good, strong base right now but, as the anti's discovered, it can be lost.

WHAT!! NO OBJECTIONS!!!

Oh Wait. It's Texas. Nevermind.

"We have a lock-down situation, we have cameras, but the question we had to answer is, 'What if somebody gets in? What are we going to do?" he said. "It's just common sense."

Well, if you live in Brady Land, you lock your doors, cower in the corners, and pray to whatever god(dess)(s) you believe in that the authorities show up in time.

Silly goose.

In your face tactics.

Like blatantly lying.

Rustmeister fisks an article by a former CF MD and Brady Bunch exec. In it the author whines that the "gun lobby" is a bunch of meanies who have this nasty habit of not letting them just spread a bunch of misinformation. Kind of like what he tries to do in this article:

George W. Bush signed the law immunizing gun manufacturers against lawsuits,

A law 'immunizing' them? Really? From the Brady Bunch's latest E-mail:

New Lawsuit! Brady Center Takes Alaska Dealer to Court

Oh,I'm sorry Brian. Did I 'disrupt' your article by presenting factual evidence?

These are the reactions of an organization that doesn't want to argue its ideas on a level playing field--it always wants the argument conducted on its terms.

Which explains why the Brady Campaign shut down the comments on its blog when it turned into a pro-firearm discussion site right? Care to discuss what percentage of pro-gun comments are deleted on Huffpo in comparison to anti-gun? Howabout the SCCC inviting Helmke to their convention to debate? Let's talk about "reasoned discourse" shall we?

This might be fun to watch.

Consitutional rights.

A police chief in Arkansas makes this bewildering statement:

“Now, if somebody wants to sue us, they have an option to sue, but I’m fairly certain that a judge will see it the way the way the citizens see it here,” Mayor James Valley said. “The citizens deserve peace, that some infringement on constitutional rights is OK, and we have not violated anything as far as the Constitution.”

Sebastian SIH asks which constitution this guy's been reading. Isn't it obvious? The Soviet one, especially article 39:

"Enjoyment of the rights and freedoms of citizens must not be to the detriment of the interests of society or the state."

So you can enjoy your 'rights' until we say you can't.

He must have heard "Red State" during the last election and gotten confused.

Red's Trading Post Is Back!!!

The party of the lazy.

Really folks. When you publicize your official national platform, even if it's just a draft, don't rely on spell-check. Use an editor.

“Investment in the arts is an investment inn our creativity and cultural heritage,

Where's the hive?

Swarm of bullets on South Side injures man, damages CTA buses

Perhaps they bred w/ accidentally released African bullets and it made them more violent?

One would think it's more likely a cluster of criminals causing the problems.

The definition of "progressive"

With apologies to a real progressive.

Progressive would refer to social improvement by government action. This goes for everything from gun regulation to health care to education. Americans need to start taking care of Americans.

Completely ignoring the education system in the US started failing when the gov't took over, the housing projects, social security, etc.

All of it, however, is Bush's fault.

Yes, because America has let these programs fall by the way-side as our government spends their time passing stupid policies like the "no child left behind" act and involving us in unnecessary wars for their own financial gain.

Remember the good and, dare I say, progressive acts of FDR and JFK that pulled us out of a depression and helped our country become a superpower?

Nevermind that it was WWII that pulled us out of the depression and made us a "SuperPower". One also wouldn't want to mention Bay of Pigs or Vietnam, would we?

BDS must also cause historical blindness.

Is it me, or is this authoritarian mindset just truly scary?

dum dum dum Another one bites the dust...

EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- The Evanston City Council voted 7-1 Monday night to repeal a handgun ban in the city.

Previously, an ordinance on the books banned handguns in the town.

The move comes in response to a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that overturned a similar handgun ban, saying it was unconstitutional.

Both Morton Grove and Wilmette overturned their handgun bans following the high court's ruling.

Tonight is the 2A Resolution meeting in Lake County. The Joyce puppet group ICHV is expected to oppose this w/ all their dwindling resources. Show your support.

Disingenuous to the end

From the Joyce Foundation funded Illinois Council against Handgun Ownership Violence on the 2A Resolution in Lake County:

This resolution has already been proposed and passed in several counties throughout Illinois, but Lake County is the largest one yet.

Several counties? Try 82 folks.

BTW, it's spelled "REVELATION" .

Extreme Shooting Sports

Sebastian SIH laments that the US isn't #1 in all Olympic shooting events. Mostly due to dullness in his opinion. To remedy that, I introduce this new event to liven it up:

The 50 meter, Shaken Soda Can Plink

Inversely to diving, the more spray, the better the score. It also is judged higher w/ low caliber, non-HP/frangible rounds in unsupported positions.

Soda is #1 seller of host country w/ a maximum of 10 shakes.

The use of Mentos is banned.

Add more rules in comments.

MachineGuns, Grenades, and Drug Lords. Oh My!!

The LA Times had a slow news day so flipped through their "Journalists Guide to Gun Control" Manual and found the page on Mexican Gun Smuggling. They hit cutnpaste and presented it as new information.

If this is true (which it's not), what they're really saying is that the Mexican military is so incompetent that they can't compete w/ actual military grade equipment against semi-auto rifles .

Safe Storage for "Only Ones"

This should be made a requirement as at least three "High Powered Assault Weapons" have been stolen from Florida police since they were introduced last year.

But we won't here any calls for that from those calling for "crime reduction by any means", now will we.

The Devolution of a political stance

From:

CHICAGO -- Mayor Richard Daley mocked Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Friday for offering to send extra police to while the state is cutting its law enforcement budget.

To:

CHICAGO (CBS) ― Mayor Richard M. Daley said Saturday he will not turn down any help fighting violence in Chicago, following a suggestion by Gov. Rod Blagojevich that Illinois State Police or the National Guard should be sent to fight crime.

And finally:

CHICAGO -- After a noisy war of words between Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Mayor Richard Daley, state troopers have quietly started helping Chicago Police fight the city's violent crime.
