The More Things Change, The More They Stay the Same

We're all aware of Rep. Carolyn McCarthy and her famous 'Shoulder Thing That Goes Up' flub but gun control politicians endorsing and/or voting for legislation of which they have no idea what it's about except more gun control is nothing new.

Let's take a look at former OH Senator John Glenn. Even while being a Marine Colonel and NASA Astronaut, when it came to gun control, he was just as ignorant as McCarthy. He has a long history of endorsing gun control schemes including the 1968 GCA, endorsing licensing and registration, and leading one of the earliest organized gun control groups, the Emergency Committee for Gun Control. So it really comes as no surprise that he fully supported the Clinton AWB in 1993.

But what did he think he was actually voting for? Let's take a look:
..the GAO found that some of the parts stolen are those that are used to convert semi-automatic rifles into automatic machine guns. Those are the same automatic machine guns which we have passed laws to prohibit.
A recent poll by the DeHere Foundation taken between October 21 and 24 of this year found that 92 percent of those surveyed sup- ported a complete ban on semi-automatic weapons. We have just passed an amendment to the crime bill which prohibits possession even of those same semi-automatic rifles, which will be discussed here.
Um, no they didn't. They passed an amendment to temporarily prohibit manufacture of certain cosmetic features that in no way altered the function of the firearm. But they heard 'Assault Weapon Ban' and assumed. The DeHere Foundation is also a notable supporter of restrictive gun control policies so their polls have as much credibility as the MAIG one claiming that most NRA members oppose the NRA.

There's this little tidbit in the report that also caught my eye regarding M16 M855 series ammo:
You can tell that it is armor-piercing because of the green tip.
Unless things have changed, 'Green' tips are ball training ammo, NOT AP. That would be 'Black'.

So even historically, when it comes to gun control, they shut their brains off for anything that sounds good even if it has nothing to do w/ reality.

Yes, NY Rep. Carolyn Maloney is This Stupid

In her argument against national reciprocity:
this travesty of a bill would make it legal for a known terrorist or child molester in Arizona to obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon, buy a large-caliber gun and all the cop-killer bullets he could get his hands on, tuck them into his trenchcoat, and take a little trip to NYC -- maybe right to the middle of Times Square or down to Ground Zero.
And this person represents the nation. Anyone who believes something this outrageous deserves to be ridiculed. And the Brady Campaign endorses her.

"Pay Their Fair Share"

From a comment supporting the proposed tax hikes on the 'rich'.

So what does that mean 'their fair share'? Can someone give me some objective definition w/ evidence of support? Or is it just 'I think they make to much money and I want some of it'?

To me it's the same vague buzz phrase as 'Living Wage'. What exactly is a 'living wage'? Does it include a full cable package, new car and money for vacations every year? How do you define that?

When Illinois jacked up its minimum wage a few years ago, the first effects that I saw was milk went up .25 a gallon and the temp workers at the company I worked for at the time lost two paid holidays. Nevermind the fact that w/o a compensatory raise, my skilled labor was devalued. When I brought that up (politely of course), I was told the equivalent of "Tough Cookies". So I did the equivalent less work.

So when the 'rich' start getting taxed to the point that they become just well off 'Middle Class' (or hide all their money elsewhere), what will be anyone's incentive to try and reach that point? The end result? Economic stagnation as there won't be any new businesses and prices skyrocket to make up for all the losses that will occur. Kind of like we're seeing now w/ banking fees and health insurance.

Are people really that naive/ignorant of basic economics or are they deliberately trying to sabotage the US economy? Those are the only two options.

Gun Culture for dummies

So my Father called me last Sunday…

Father: Hey son, do you have a .410 shotgun I could borrow. The moles are back in force and a 12 gauge is a bit much.

Me: Indeed I do; would you like a long gun or a pistol you could attach to the John Deere while you’re mowing the lawn?

Father: I prefer a long gun so I can walk up on their holes and shoot them while they’re digging: I can see them pushing up dirt. The shot might not reach them but the percussion wave has a funny way of making them die. Did you end up with Mom’s shotgun?

Me: Yes and no. Grandma left the gun to Mom and then she gave it to me. Do you want me to bring it out to you?

Father: Is it 2.75” or 3” full? I need to know which ammo to buy.

Me: It’s 3” full and I’ll bring you a box of shells with it, you don’t need to buy anything.

Father: Well OK, that would be great. Do you need any firewood?

Me: I’m fine on kindling and Fir but running a bit low on Oak if you have any to spare.

Father: I can hook you up and not even notice.

Me: Cool, I’ll stop by next week and drop off Grandma’s shotgun. It’s the one she used to shoot rattle snakes with basking in the sun under her clothes line.

Father: Oh yeah, I remember that.

Quote of the Day

We should rename HR822 the "America's Gun Owners Deserve Equality with Diane Feinstein" bill.*

heh heh

*Dianne Feinstein is a fanatical gun control advocate and US Senator who just happened to have a rare California Concealed Carry Permit as one of the 'elite'. She doesn't believe others should have the same opportunity.

Chicago v Toronto

A headline by Canadian Gun Control advocates/IANSA:
Canada/US: Gun availability makes Chicago seven times more dangerous than Toronto
And they proclaim it to be due to Canada's gun control registry.

How do they explain that Chicago has more NON-gun murders annually than Toronto has TOTAL making it still 2-4 times more dangerous?

Or that just outside the city limits where LEGAL firearm ownership is common, the crime drops to Toronto/Greater Toronto levels?

Occupy Whatever

Got into a discussion w/ a friend today regarding my laughing at the OWS protesters having their crap stolen. He still assigns a noble purpose:
I really don't think you can pigeonhole this into a left vs. right, Dem vs. Repub type thing. It's far more bipartisan and frankly less organized into political camps than that. They're upset at Washington in general about the nature of it's cozy bedfellowship with Wall St, and they're quite pissed off at bank bailouts from what I can tell...so I don't think you're paying enough attention to what they're really saying.

Again, people are right to be pissed off about what's been going on in the last decade or so, and the mess it's left us with. That's not a D vs. R type case to be made, and I don't think you can really frame it that way.
Were it a universal attack against all those involved in the bailouts, I might agree, but it's not. Whatever they're 'really' saying has been bought out by support from Soros through Moveon and his various other front groups (yeah, I know, he 'denies' it), Union thugs like SEIU and every other whackjob group out there, primarily those that lean 'left'.

The result is this kind of confused stupidity:
As many as 200 people attempted to enter the museum through doors facing the National Mall, said St. Thomas, while others gathered at the museum’s Independence Avenue entrance. The demonstrators carried large signs and other items not allowed inside the museum, she said.
So they shut down the Air & Space Museum. Duh.

Some Democrats (many of the same ones responsible for the bailouts) are attempting to pony up to the protesters and being called out by their corporate donors.

Protesters attack corporations while using products designed and sold by corporations nevermind all that name-brand clothing and just really stupid comments.

So whatever 'real' message may have been its original intent, it's been taken over by other sources of corrupt big money, hypocrites and idiots.

Redistribution of Wealth at #OWS

Schadenfreude.
Occupy Wall Street protesters said yesterday that packs of brazen crooks within their ranks have been robbing their fellow demonstrators blind, making off with pricey cameras, phones and laptops -- and even a hefty bundle of donated cash and food.

Why are they upset? That's what they wanted isn't it?

Oh right, it's THEIR wealth that's being involuntarily redistributed. That's different.

"Character Issues"...

Like having the wrong color skin or not enough money.

Valid reasons to deny licenses to carry in 'May Issue' states like California or New York. States that allow the authorities to arbitrarily choose whether you can defend yourself or not.

A concept fully endorsed by gun control groups like the Brady Campaign and Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. They certainly stay close to their roots, don't they?

Traitor To Our 'Government'?

Ladd Everitt of the CSGV again shows his disdain of basic Constitutional principles as he calls a veteran of the US Army (a status he cannot claim) to be a 'traitor to Our Government'.

To Our 'Government'? Really Ladd? Let's see what Article 3 of the US Constitution says about 'Treason':
Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court.
Odd. Nothing about the "Government" in there.

These are the kinds of principles that gun control advocates believe in. Allegiance to the Gov't, no matter what they do. We've seen this principle before.

It's 'Not Fair'....

To hold outright incompetence and possibly criminal motives to be held accountable for their actions . If it's Gov't agents that are the ones that are the incompetents that is, according to said incompetent/future criminal's lawyer.
But an attorney representing one of the ATF officials at the center of this storm sees it differently, insisting the description that the guns were allowed to "walk" is not fair.
And the then claims letting guns get smuggled into Mexico w/o any idea of how to trace them or follow their movements is 'typical'? Really? That's the defense he's going to present?

Of course it's one of the same arguments that the various gun control groups are presenting in order to justify giving more power to this failure of an agency. I'm sure the lawyer will be just as effective.

More 19 yr old 'Children'....

Title of a report on a new 'study':
More Kids Suffer Firearm Injuries Than Researchers Previously Believed, Study Finds

In those eight years, they counted nearly 186,000 children, from newborns to 19-year-olds, who had been treated for firearm injuries.

Sorry. Again, 18 and 19 yr olds aren't 'children' by any definition unless you're deliberately trying to fudge the numbers to push an agenda. If they're involved in a gang, then it's arguable those 16 & 17 yr olds aren't innocent victims either.
63 percent of the firearm injuries were intentional – from homicides, suicide attempts, or encounters with law enforcement.
And instead of focusing on the larger number, they focus on the smaller number of accidents, a number that has been decreasing thanks to efforts by the NRA's Eddie Eagle and other safety courses.

I'll lay money that when this 'study' is published, it shows it received funding from the Joyce Foundation.

It's All About Force

Moron FleaBagger:

Now ignore for a second all his stupid ideas about a bunch of tribes living together in harmony and developing super technology, focus on that one word.

Forced.

That is the only way that that entire belief system, including gun control, can expand. Force. By forcing people to act unnaturally and against their own best interests. They naively think that they'll achieve this world of rainbow farting unicorns by giving the gov't immense amounts of power and removing any form of resistance among the public. Because then, in their minds, this all powerful gov't will just dissolve and the people will just form happy communes which still have to be forced into submission.

Gun control follows the same principle. The only way it can be achieved is if people are forced, by threat of an armed response, to turn in their guns.

Their systems can only be achieved by force. Is that a system you really want to live under?
