Windows Vista issues..

I discovered a major gap in Vista last night. I used the "Disk Cleanup" feature. The Home Premium Edition apparently includes User and Operating System files in its list of "junk" as it effectively formatted my hard drive.

I'm working on recovering as many files as I can but the file names no longer match the data on a lot of the files so I'll have to go through each one.

I'm going to have a long weekend.

Return of Kalishnakitty

I got these shirts for my daughter and wife last year so I'm going to give him some more free advertising:

Kalishnakitty Shirts

Note: These are not my shirts. Follow the instructions below.

OK, guys and gals, I have gotten a lot of emails in the past few months about people wanting Kalashnikitty shirts and have decided to do up another special run.

Here's the procedure for getting the shirts (this makes it a LOT easier for me to track and ship these things ASAP)

Email me (erickelly1@verizon.net) with the following:

1 - Number and sizes you want - sizes are Child's Medium, Child's Large, Adult Small, Adult Medium, Adult Large, Adult XL, Adult 2XL, and Adult 3XL.

2 - Your name and address

3 - How you would like to pay for them

Only one color - a light ash grey (very nice) - shirts are high-quality, do not fade or shrink, long lasting, very soft. Image is screen printed, NOT iron on or transfers. I've never gotten an email from any of my previous customers saying, "The shirt shrunk, faded, looks horrible after 3 months, etc." - these really are quite nice shirts.

Pricing - I have, in the past 6 years, never raised the price, even though my cost has gone up. I'm STILL not raising the price yet - even though shipping has gone up, I'm going to eat that since you all have been so great to me over the years and I want to make these available to as many people as I can.

Any size up to XL is $20, 2XL is $21.50 and 3XL is $22.00

Shipping via 2-3 day Priority Mail with Delivery Confirmation is $5.00 for 1 shirt, and an extra $2.50 per shirt after that.

Check, MO, or Paypal/Gearpay is good for payments. If using Paypal/Gearpay, add 4% to the total payment, including the shipping.

** When you email me your order, include your full name and mailing address. I will email you back with the total.

I'm going to take orders until the morning of the 21st of July, and then the shirts should be in my hands and shipped out by the end of July.

For whomever may need it..

Certain commentators as of late have been expressing innappropriate levels of hostility and anger towards other posters. This is unnacceptable when adults are trying to discuss issues. For those certain individuals, here are some resources:

Public rejects new gun laws

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- A recent Zogby International poll
question conducted for Associated Television News found that 66% of the
American voting public in a recent poll of 1,020 Americans from August
8-11, 2007 (margin of error of +/- 3.1%) found that the American public
rejects the notion that new gun control laws are needed.

The poll asked: "Which of the following two statements regarding gun
control comes closer to your own opinion? Statement A: There needs to be
new and tougher gun control legislation to help in the fight against gun
crime. Statement B: There are enough laws on the books. What is needed is
better enforcement of current laws regarding gun control.
Conversely, only 31% of the American public think new and tougher gun
control legislation are needed.
A majority of voters who support enforcement of gun laws already on the
books exists virtually across all demographic groups and in all regions of
the country with the only exception being Asian and liberal voters.

Currently, 26 counties in Illinois have passed pro-2A resolutions. These include:

Adams, Brown, Crawford, Edwards, Effingham, Fayette, Greene, Hamilton, Hancock, Hardin, Iroquois Johnson, Lawrence, Massac, Monroe, Piatt, Pike, Pope, Pulaski, Randolph, Schuyler, Stephenson, Wabash, Wayne, White, Woodford , and Shelby Counties .

24 more are on the books.

I'm sure all these legislators are being paid off by the ebil "gun lobby".

More information, including contact info to lobby your county office, available at the ISRA.

After linking to Gonzo

They have a few anecdotes of someone committing suicide at a range out of the millions of people visiting a year and suddenly range owners are "soulless". That along w/ his numerous other usual insults and ad hominems are about as good as it gets for the hoplophobes today.

Just to show how stupid the correlation is, ask yourself who has a higher suicide rate:

White American Males
Japanese Males
White French Males
Indian Females

Answer

Now let's look at a list of suicide rates by country:

Yeah, I know, Wiki. deal

Do we see an ownership/suicide correlation? Nope. Not there. Have a nice day.

He has, however, opened up comments. Let the games begin.

What the BC has been reduced to..

Besides shutting down comments.

With all due respect to Andrew Dysart, not only is Paul , former mayor and president of a Nat’l organization, reduced to arguing against CCW on campus, but to debating w/ college students.

Hat tip to TOS for the idea.

New Jersey no longer allowing "sanctuary" cities.

NJ changes policy on illegal immigrants

From the Mayor""I often see people back on our streets that I believe should not be back on our streets after they've committed serious crimes," Newark Mayor Cory Booker said. "I would be remiss if I wasn't calling for larger changes and larger reforms in the state of New Jersey and the United States."

Yet he continues to blame the guns as a member of MAIG.

Maybe if more states would pursue this, maybe the cities that are seeing the highest rises in crime (also mostly "sanctuary cities") would see a subsection of crime reduced.

LA just had a sweep against some of the most violent gang members yet they are also a sanctuary city. Since it's already been well documented that a significant portion of these gangs (MS-13, etc) are made up of illegal immigrants, that means the police who arrested them won't be able to inform the immigration authorities.

While it's regretfull that it takes an incident like the Newark slayings to show people that there are a lot more significant issues related to crime than firearms, Hopefully this trend will continue.

We've heard this song before

Paul is now crowing about "microstamping . He gives the usual talking points of "it will solve crimes", "it's proven technology", it's inexpensive", etc.

I know I've heard this refrain before. What was it now? Let me think... Oh right it was ..

BALLISTIC FINGERPRINTING.

And yet the places that implemented it have had little or no success w/ it. Why? Because it was not "proven" nor "effective" at solving crimes. MD wasted millions of dollars to solve exactly zero crimes w/ the police asking for it to be defunded while CA's DOJ study showed such poor results it failed to pass the legislature (surprisingly).

So now we have another new "proven" technology (apparently only proven by the patent holder) that will cost millions to implement and maintain, create even more paperwork mountains, is a defacto registry, and is easily defeatable.

So of course the Brady Bunch supports it.

The song remains the same.

Edit: Here's the E-mail MichaelS sent to Paul:

Dear Paul:

I am looking forward to when you will open the blog up again to comments. Until then, I will send an email.

As far as micro stamping, let’s assume for the moment that it works as well as you say it does. Do you really think that criminals are so stupid that they would use a micro stamped gun in a crime? Do you realize how easy it is to replace a firing pin on an automatic pistol? Even if micro stamping passes and gun manufacturers comply, unless there is a drastic redesign of the handguns involved, there are thousands of replacement firing pins already available on the market. (Do you propose picking those up and engraving them?) Also, anyone with access to machine tools could manufacture their own firing pins. Yes, a law could be passed prohibiting it but criminals who are willing to use guns in a crime probably aren’t going to worry about any penalty for violating that law.

I am not even going to go into how most crime guns are stolen or how easy it is to make firearms (even sub-machineguns), since those topics have already been covered in previous blogs.

Micro stamping is a feel-good measure that can easily be defeated. It will raise the cost of firearms not only for the consumer but law enforcement as well without a significant reduction in gun crimes.

Sincerely,

Michael

Another uneducated Anti'

This is one thing I can give the VPC and BC. They've pushed their nonsense so much that most people don't know the truth about any firearms or the laws that regulate them. Case in point, over at Huffington, another anti rants about "lax gun laws" and the Clinton AWB claiming that crime has increased due to the lapse of it. I doubt he could even define what an "assault weapon" is.

Give them Uzi's

It contains the usual fallacies,:

Not liking some laws = getting rid of all of them.
The AWB actually banned guns
"Lax" gun control laws

Obviously, someone has only been reading news releases from the Brady Bunch again.

Hattip to Keyboard and a .45

Taking a cue from Alex..

I think every Anti who squeels about that there are no beneficial uses for firearms should read this every morning before they close their eyes, cover their ears and yell "LALALALA" for the rest of the day:

Defensive Firearm Uses

And the Anti's wanted gun legislation tied to this:

Terror Suspect List Suspended:

"Anti-war groups and other organizations, including a Quaker group — the American Friends Service Committee — protested after it was revealed that the military had monitored anti-war activities, organizations and individuals who attended peace rallies."

"Last year, a Pentagon review found that as many as 260 reports in the database were improperly collected or kept there. At the time, the Pentagon said there were about 13,000 entries in the database, and that less than 2 percent either were wrongly added or were not purged later when they were determined not to involve real threats."

And what would the pundits scream if "only 2%" of media outlets were shut down(unless it was bloggers of course)?

Over at NancyRobs'..

One of my comments actually got posted.

Nancyrob

Feel free to post replies on my blog or e-mail me if you're more comfortable w/ that. Most of us have no problem discussing things. We like to do it. What we have problems w/ are people that make claims and statements about firearms or laws that already have a preconcieved notion and refuse to actually discuss anything.

Robyn Ringler is a perfect example. She states she doesn't want to ban guns but half her posts are about banning one thing or another as well as advocating and linking to groups that call for bans for one type of firearm up to complete restrictions.
