Chicago Gun Crime in Action

So a woman is caught on video firing multiple shots on a busy urban street during an altercation (also a crime)

The police (when they showed up) received no help from people standing around.  They didn't see or hear anything.

The police weren't there any sooner because all on-duty officers were at a mandated PR 'Outdoor Roll Call'.  Three blocks away.

When they found the woman suspected of doing the shooting, she was charged w/ misdemeanor reckless conduct and released after 8 hrs on bond.

Betting she has no FOID or CCW.

Betting she has a record already.

Reckless discharge of a firearm is a felony in Illinois. 5 shots.  5 felonies.

But why bother charging her w/ more when they'll just plead it down anyway?

Why bother enforcing the laws on the books when we can call for more laws?

Why bother policing at all when trying to do so will result in no help from the locals and any alleged misstep will result in the officer being vilified in the media?

Let's Ban Some AR Ammo

You can almost imagine a bunch of sloppy suited bureaucrats sitting around a table asking "How can we justify this?" and coming up w/ some of the most convoluted, weak, and hair-splitting explanations possible.  IOW, a classic example of the dangers of unelected government bureaucrats.

What am I talking about?

Why the BATFE is proposing removing exemptions for M855 ball ammo as 'armor piercing' because there are a couple of AR style 'handguns' out there.   The 'logic', if I'm able to follow it correctly, goes something like this.

FOPA says that AP ammo designed to be used in a handgun isn't 'sporting purpose'.
'Designed', doesn't really mean 'designed' but instead 'can be used in' because a court case said that stuff that can be used for drug use is 'drug paraphernalia' even if it wasn't intended for it.
AR's are sort of like M-16's and are therefore military guns.
Military guns aren't 'sporting' and we need to protect police.
Therefore ban commonly available ammo.

Or something like that.

And they wonder why people don't trust the Government or this administration.

TBFKASIH has more.

New Illinois Motto Announced "The Police State"

A bill was passed w/ one of those completely unrelated amendments added to it.  This one making it a felony to record the police w/o a court order:
(a) Eavesdropping, for a first offense, is a Class 4 felony (from Ch. 38, par. 14-4) and, for a second or subsequent offense, is a Class 3 felony. (b) The eavesdropping of an oral conversation or an electronic communication of between any

law enforcement officer, State’s Attorney, Assistant State’s Attorney, the Attorney General, Assistant Attorney General, or a judge, while in the performance of his or her official duties, if not authorized by this Article or proper court order, is a Class 3 felony, and for a second or subsequent offenses, is a Class 2 felony 1 felo
Isn't that just special?  How far do they want the general populace to mistrust the police? They're saying that taking video of a police officer is the equivalent to attacking them physically.

Only One Upset He Got Caught

Near 30 yr. veteran police officer slaps around a guy to get 'consent' to search his vehicle.  Gets recorded, placed on leave, resigned, and arrested for assault.

His only regret?  That it was filmed.
“I was concerned. It was a public safety issue,” the sergeant said. “If I had to do it all over again … I’d probably do the same thing. If I knew the camera was there, no, because it does look bad.”
That's right.  In his mind, the 'right thing' is to assault someone in the name of 'public safety'. Sounds like the next spokesman for the CSGV or MDA.  That's exactly the type of behavior they encourage towards firearm owners.

Gun-Ban Groups Cry

I hear them yell "It Burns.... It Freeeeeezzzeeessss" When they read headlines like this:

Chicago crime rate drops as concealed carry applications surgeCity sees fewer homicides, robberies, burglaries, car thefts as Illinois residents take arms
Now I'm not one to claim causality but the coincidences on this are sure piling up. Out of the tens of thousands of CCW holders, so far they've had an issue w/ one in Chicago. One of which the much vaunted system of Sheriff approval should have caught.

On the other hand, this might not be true as the CPD have been caught fudging crime data to artificially reduce violent crime.

So which is it gun control supporters?  Has CCW NOT increased the number of shootings and coincided w/ a decrease in crime or have the authorities, the ones we're told are the only ones trained and professional enough to handle firearms, lied and abused their authority?

Police: "You're On Your Own"

From SCC:
You know what we're hearing, loud and clear?
  • Don't get out of the car. Ever. Indianapolis Metro Police Deptarment be damned, if you get out of the car, the media will run half-truths, the community will riot, the brass will turn their backs and the politicians will run the bus over you, again and again and again in a constant loop.
In the urban centers, police work is done and the Law of the Jungle prevails. Protect yourself and your job. We never thought we'd have to type that.
So any questions on who to rely on in an emergency?

NYPD: More Accurate When Drunk

NYPD officer takes a page from Chicago Police Superintendent Garry "Streetlight" McCarthy's playbook and goes on a drunken shooting spree. In this case, the officer managed to hit his intended target, the guy in the next car, 6 out of 14 times.

That's better than many NYPD officers do when sober.

ACLU Gets It Right

Officer demands to confiscate a guys' guns for an alleged 'disturbing the peace' complaint then arrests him.  Guy puts video up on Youtube and officer got a court order to have it taken down.

Officer gets his @ss handed to him.

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO—Police Officer Jerry Bledsoe sent a written apology to Second Amendment advocate Jordan Klaffer, and agreed to pay damages,  court costs and attorneys’ fees. The Village of Kelso, where Bledsoe works, also assured Klaffer in writing that they will instruct police officers to not seek court orders to censor individuals who are critical of police officers’ actions. In response, today Klaffer and the American Civil Liberties Union of Missouri asked the United States District Court to dismiss the First Amendment lawsuit filed in February on Klaffer’s behalf.

I wonder what happened w/ the arrest.  Bet the charges were dropped.

What Do LAPD Officers Want To Hide?

Los Angeles police officers removed antennas from police cars in several predominantly Black neighborhoods to disable the recording equipment and avoid being monitored while on duty, according to an inspection by LAPD investigators.
The department review found about half of the 80 cars in the Southeast division—which includes Watts and the Jordan Downs and Nickerson Gardens housing projects—were missing the antennas that help capture what officers say in the field. The review discovered at least 10 more cars in nearby divisions also had antennas removed.
Now why would they possibly do that?  We all know the LAPD are completely honest.  Right?

Nothing like this would ever happen, right?
Eight Los Angeles police officers who opened fire on a mother and daughter delivering newspapers during the manhunt for a rogue ex-officer violated the department’s policy of using deadly force, officials said.
Trust the gov't. They're there to help.

Foreshadowing the Lawsuits Against the ISP

One can just imagine the lawyers for the NRA, ISRA and SAF sharpening their pencils, loading up the printers and prepping for long nights of paperwork.

Why?

Well seems the ISP is trying to play fast(or is that slow) and loose w/ the instructor certification for CCW and the approval of courses.  Instructors are being approved, then denied almost at random, the website is a joke, and not one single course has been authorized.

There are only two possible reasons for this.  Incompetence or outright obstructionism.  Either reason is going to get them their @sses handed to them in court.

They want to play games?  Let them.  There are lots of gamemasters among the gunnie set.

Update:  Apparently the message is getting across.  They've allegedly added 400-ish names since last night.
