Weekend Wildlife

Some good shots this week. First one is of a nice sized buck and what I'm pretty sure is a possum.

The local herd is getting used to the camera. They're not bolting from the flashes. This is a good sized group w/ quite a few does and a couple of young bucks.

I would have loved to have had a video after the flash went off on this one.

It wasn't all just deer, though. An hour later:

And he wasn't traveling alone.

Saturday Funny

The economy is so bad that I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail.

It’s so bad, I ordered a burger at McDonalds and the kid behind the counter asked, “Can you afford fries with that?”

The economy is so bad that CEO’s are now playing miniature golf.

The economy is so bad if the bank returns your check marked “Insufficient Funds,” you call them and ask if they meant you or them.

The economy is so bad Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM.

The economy is so bad McDonalds is selling the 1/4 ouncer.

The economy is so bad parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their children’s names.

The economy is so bad a truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico .

The economy is so bad Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting..

The economy is so bad Motel 6 won’t leave the light on anymore.

The economy is so bad the Mafia is laying off judges.

The economy is so bad Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen

Thanks to Texas Fred for the forward.

"Only Ones" Breaking and Entering Enough

CHICAGO — Four former members of a now-disbanded Chicago police unit have admitted they used to barge into people's homes and steal money.

Three of the four pleaded guilty Friday in Cook County court to felony theft and one pleaded guilty to felony official misconduct. All four were sentenced to six months in jail and promised to cooperate in an ongoing investigation.

Good thing the people of Chicago are under such good protection.

Down the Memory Hole: MAIG edition

SIH reports on alleged MAIG mayors denying membership specifically Portales, NM mayor Ortega. He's no longer listed on the MAIG site but here are two screencaps from Jan 2008 via the wayback machine showing him as a member.

Buckeye Firearms has info on some more mayors who seem to have been added w/o permission.

The House voted 345-75 to strike ACORN funding from a student aid bill with two voting present.
And four of those votes were from Illinois Reps.

Jesse Jackson Jr. 202-225-0773
Danny Davis 202-225-5006
Janice Schakowsky 202-225-2111

I'm sure their constituents are proud.

"I Support Underage Prostitution for Illinois"

Sen. Roland Burris on supporting funding for ACORN even after they've been caught supporting criminal activity.

Not so bad news for Manhatten

Richard Aborn, former Brady president, gun control fanatic and candidate for Manhattan DA, has lost the primary which was essentially the election since there's no (R) candidate.

Poor baby.

And another MAIG Mayor has lost their seat in the state. Wonder how long it will be before her name is removed from the site.

Double Standard

On the ACORN videos.

Could you imaging the media response had this been in a NRA office and an employee was advising an admitted criminal how to dodge firearm laws?

Double Godwin

In their gasps of desperation, gun banners have been reduced to the tired tactic of comparing the NRA and the ebil 'gun lobby' to Nazi's.

Josh "Licensed Firearm Dealer" Sugarmann paints a broad brush of the firearm industry due to Glock's founder allegedly being friends w/ a 'nazi sympathizer'.

Dennis "I forgot the People" Henigan compares Obama to Chamberlain.

Peter Hamm (don't call him 'Petey' or he'll shoot you) takes a stab at playing word games. Oregon is tied for #14 even though it only gets 18 out of 100 Brady points.

WOLVERINES!!

One of the original guerrillas, Patrick Swayze, just died of cancer at 57. Hopefully he went towards the light instead of being grabbed by those shadow things.

ACORN's Nuts Getting Cracked

After several offices were recorded helping undercover reporters try and start up a brothel staffed by underage illegal immigrants, several individuals were fired even though now ACORN is claiming that the videos were dubbed w/ fake conversations. Yesterday several ACORN staffers were chased away from the 9/12 DC protest, the Census Bureau has allegedly cut off ties w/ ACORN, they're under investigation is over a dozen states, and now the Senate voted to cut their housing funds.

They're not having a good week.

Here are the sole "No" votes:

Burris (D-IL)
Casey (D-PA)
Durbin (D-IL)
Gillibrand (D-NY)
Leahy (D-VT)
Sanders (I-VT)
Whitehouse (D-RI)

US/IL Crime 2008

Apparently all those guns we're shipping to Mexico is having an effect on US criminals as the numbers and rates of violent crimes/murders/ and most other crime designations have dropped again for the second year. That gives us lower rates than we've seen in over 30 years.

Since Illinois remains in non-compliance w/ the FBI on crime reporting, the only comparable stat. is murder.

Nationally, the murder numbers/rate dropped from 16928/5.6 to 16272/5.4 from '07 to '08.

Illinois INCREASED from 752/5.9 to 790/6.1 . All due to the Brady Paradise of Chicago.

Chicago increased from 445/15.7 to 510 murders w/ a rate of 18/100k.

Dumping Chicago, Illinois would have seen a drop from 307/3.04 to 280 murders w/ a rate of 2.77.

Thanks Chicago. We're so glad to have you with us.

And so it begins....

MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (WXYZ) - Michigan's movie bonanza continues. The remake of "Red Dawn" began shooting Friday night in one area neighborhood, creating lots of buzz and excitement.

Welcome to Spokane, Washington, where enemy soldiers have taken over. At least that's what will happen in the remake of "Red Dawn," the movie being shot in metro Detroit. Actually, the Spokane neighborhood is really Kendrick Street in Mount Clemens, which is now a huge movie set.

I'm not 100% sure what to think but I'm leaning towards expecting it to suck.
