Like a Clearance Sale at Lohman's

Gun show this weekend. I wasn't here for the opening of the doors on Friday but from what multiple people told me, about 150 people were lined up at the door.  When it opened, they all rushed to the tables w/ the ammo and started buying up everything they could.  Not gouge prices but the silliness of grabbing anything they can at any price is ridiculous.  Hearing tales of bricks of .22lr going for $50-$70.

Magazines have dropped significantly in price.  Previous shows had them at $40+.  This show the going price for 30 rnd AR mags is $25.  Gun sales are slow.  Accessories etc. are hit or miss. 

I've had quite a few people come up and tell me they're readers or wanting info on my site so they can be readers.  Political talk is about what one would expect.  Disgust over the crap going on in the state and w/ the UN.

'Gross Exaggerations' That Aren't

You have to love politicians propagandists and apologists. Rep. Degette's mouthpiece tries to blame gun owners for her stupidity. On the ammo shortage, some NYC talking head says this:

Richard Aborn, president of the Citizens Crime Commission of New York City, said the run on guns and ammunition isn't surprising and is fueled by "gross exaggerations," when reasonable discussion is what's needed.

'Reasonable discussion, eh?  I guess that's why the law had to be jammed through in a midnight session w/ no discussion or public debate? Or am I 'grossly exaggerating'?

And some people just don't pay attention:

 "I don't want to call them doomsdayers, but people get on these blogs on the Internet and they drive people's fears," he said. "They do not want to wait around and see."

Yet:

The tax rumor was fueled by proposals in Connecticut, California and Illinois that haven't advanced.

So the ones 'driving people's fears' are the numerous politicians actually pushing for bans, restrictions and taxes.  'These blogs' (like this one) are just reporting it and trying to keep another NY from happening, just like Illinois tried to pull. 

So again.  Ignorant and/or lying?

What They Leave Out

The Joyce Funded Illinois Council Against Handgun Ownership put up a FB post about a photographer who documents violence in Chicago.  Unfortunately the ICHV and the author focus on the guns instead of what the photographer details, gangs and violence.

The case he discusses in depth is that of Ondelee Perteet, who was shot in Sept. of '09 at a party.  Let's look at what the ICHV chooses to ignore about this event.

The shooter was one Robert Sansberry, at the time 15 years old. He was a gangbanger with a handgun in Chicago.  It took months to find out who he was and convict him (17-20 yrs) because:

 Investigators had a hard time working the case, because no one would come forward with information, even though several people witnessed the shooting.

More than 'several' I'm sure.   This was before McDonald v Chicago so the handgun was completely illegal. He was carrying it. He was underage (no FOID), etc. etc.

Just one more law would have stopped him, right?

Elliot Fineman, Not Living In Illinois or Reality

Well first of all Elliot Fineman of the NGVAC defends 'Snuffy' Phleger's threats against a gun shop owner, then, in a roundabout way shows that FOID's and background checks are serving no purpose since Chicago is dead last in prosecuting firearm crimes.

But Elliot goes even farther:

Thanks to the gun lobby, Illinois gun owners enjoy almost complete freedom from regulation. They are unlicensed, their weapons are unregistered and they don’t even have to carry insurance like people who own pools and vicious dogs not to mention car owners.

Strange that there's this thing called a FOID, aka a gun license, in Illinois.  So is he ignorant and/or lying? 

David Hemenway: Mary Shepard a 'Wuss'

There's an old meme about 'anti-gun logic' that goes 'It's better to be raped and murdered than defend yourself w/ a gun'.  Those who repeat it are often called 'extremist' or using 'bumper sticker arguments' by the anti-gun lobby.

Then an anti-gun activist goes and says it:

...I’d like to have this notion that anyone using a gun is a wuss. They aren’t anybody to be looked up to. They’re somebody to look down at because they couldn’t defend themselves or couldn’t protect others without using a gun.

And this isn't just your run of the mill activist, this is Dr. David Hemenway, one of the head researchers for gun control in this nation and a prominent recipient of Joyce Foundation grants.

I wonder if Hemenway would have the balls to say that to Mary Shepard's face?

So yes, they want you disarmed.  They want confiscation. They want you to have to rely on the police for your protection. These are the 'social norms' they're calling for.

I've disagreed w/ his premises and argued against his research considering him little more than a well-educated hack.  Now I consider him nothing more than a fanatical POS who deserves nothing but my contempt.

State, National & International

State/Local:  Cook County (iow Chicago) slaps $25 tax on firearm purchases to pay for criminals' health care.

National:  Bloomie is conning cities into paying for his anti-gun lobby employees. Even more than we already suspected.

International:  UN Gun Grabbers doing what we expect them to.

This is why I keep hounding on people to join the GSL,  ISRA, SAF, and NRA

Mark Karlin. Obsessed w/ the Contents of White Men's Pants

Want to see just how deranged a former Joyce Foundation grant recipient can get?  Take a look at Mark 'Gonzo' Karlin's latest anti-gun rant.

You can feel at least temporarily reassured when a long-barreled assault weapon compensates for just another average manhood; it's an irresistable testosterone high to the beleaguered white male.

It just gets more fun from there.Someone seriously needs to check their meds.

Dumb and Dumber

First off we have a bravely anonymous op-ed piece demanding the banning of standard capacity mags.  While knowing absolutely nothing about guns.  Take a look at the photo and caption.

Those .003 of an inch makes a big difference. But this ignorant twit wouldn't know that.

Then we have a group of 'Dumbers' w/ the head dumberer being NY Rep Carolyn Maloney:

“For too long, gun victims and society at large have borne the brunt of the costs of gun violence. My bill would change that by shifting some of that cost back onto those who own the weapons,” Maloney said.

So her response is to force those not committing the crimes to get insurance and bankrupt them if they don't get it.

H.R. 1369 requires gun buyers to have liability insurance coverage before being allowed to purchase a weapon and imposes a fine of $10,000 if an owner is found not to have the required coverage;

And of course this bit of stupidity is co-sponsored by Illinois's own Bobby Rush.

We need to start fining politicians.

Violent Crime in Picture

Take a good look at this person:

This is the face of a criminal.  He is 19 yrs old.  Anti-gun activists would call him a 'child' or 'teen' depending on whatever heart strings they want to pull at the moment.  While he is technically a 'teen', he is a criminal.  He's not even a 'shoplifted a pair of shoes' type of criminal.  He is one that murdered one of his own family, his grandfather, by shooting him in the back.  Why?  So he could steal the old man's money and medicine to buy more tattoos, shoes and a cell phone. 

 They found 25 casings at the scene so either he reloaded several times or another one of his gang-banger buddies did some shooting as well. He claims to have stolen the gun from his grandfather but who knows if that's true or not. The papers don't say.

This POS emptied a gun into his own grandpa to go buy some more crap. What law would stop someone with that kind of mentality?

Why More Than 10 Rounds?

“You had a group of teens, close to maybe 500. They assaulted a Chicago police officer that was mounted on a horse and all of a sudden they assaulted a citizen walking the streets, just a normal citizen shopping and enjoying the weather,” said Holmes.

They were just there on a school field trip, right? It won't be long before the 'simple' assaults and vandalism get old and they move on to outright destruction, felony assault and murder.
