THIS Explains a Lot

A man whose bid to become a police officer was rejected after he scored too high on an intelligence test has lost an appeal in his federal lawsuit against the city.
If you're going to intentionally pick the 'average' to low average individuals for a profession allegedly responsible for the protection of society, it's not wonder we're seeing the increased issues and abuses.

Not only that but it further encourages ignorance and a lack of education.  "Don't study too hard Johnny, you might not get the job you want if you do to well."

Interesting story, and I'd not heard of anything like that being done before... strange to say the least!

I heard about this a while back. What ever happened to wanting the best of the best? We could use a lot smarter cops instead of the thugs they have been hiring lately.

Maybe they could hire some cops that can read a address.

Harrison Bergeron was meant as a cautionary tale and not an instruction manual, dammit!

TPTB don't want Police that are able to think.

If the cops are smart, then they might realize they're being given unlawful orders, and refuse to follow them.

I've heard it explained that the Brass is afraid their investment in the supposedly over-intelligent recruits will be lost when the recruit gets bored just driving around all day patrolling and writing reports about it that they quit in favor of finding more interesting work.
